We didn't know to make reservations but they were able to find a very nice spot for our family. Very authentic experience. Brought back many wonderful memories of my grandmother, Ingeborg from Berlin. We were all very pleased with the unique experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Crystal our server was a delight. Such a lovely lady! She's been working here for so many years and she was very nice and educational. If you speak German she'll converse with you. The only thing we have to say is it was a tad bit salty/vinegary. Overall this was such a German homey feel!

Happy hour as advertised..4-6!! Just try it all!! $2 pork chop is great! Goulash soup!! Sautee mushrooms , brats, and kraut. Michelle at the bar knows what's up and won't steer ya wrong! She even makes the apple strudel, which was an amazing way to finish our german food tour whilst visiting!!!! Read this and just go!!!

One of our favorite restaurants in North Myrtle. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. The service is quick and friendly. Our food came out very quickly after ordering and was delicious. My wife and I both got the pork jager schnitzel with different sides that were all good. We split an apple strudel which was also delicious. They have some good specials that we weren’t even aware of; 15% off from 4-5 pm and $1 off beers from 4-6. We will definitely be back.

Best and most authentic German food I have had in the United States. Could not believe how amazing it was and how quickly it transported me back to Germany. From the caraway seed bread to the entree and the desserts I have no complaints. German Beers served in a standard glass, a liter, and a 2 liter boot. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Make a reservation a day or two before you plan on going and get there right at 4pm if you don't have a reservation. This place fills up fast every day.

Great food and service and I love the ambiance as it reminds me of dinners out with my German grandmother when I was a kid.

One of our favorite restaurants in Horry County!!! Love German food and this place is the best!!! We had the Schweinshaxe this visit and it fell off the bone! You can never go wrong with any schnitzel either. We love a good Dunkle and this was fresh on tap. Great service ALWAYS!

Enjoyed another great meal here. Our 4th time here. We eat here at least once when we vacation in North Myrtle. Will always keep this place on our "must eat"places. Service very friendly and if you arrive at the right time you can enjoy some entertainment. Couldn't leave another review about our 5th visit, but another 5* experience. Had the cordon Bleu this time...... delicious. Will come back every visit to NMB.

First time, 2 for dinner. Arrived at 4pm to start happy hour. Sat in the bar area. Very comfortable. Greeted by one of the owners "Michelle". Super great person. She was helped by "Jay" fun guy. Both answered questions and served. You had 2 choices, you could order off the "Happy Hour" menu or their dinner menu. Drinks German beer - Hefe weizen and Pilsner. Enjoyed them. Started with the Pretzel's for an appetizer w/ spicy sweet mustard, YUM! HH menu has some great choices along with great prices. 1 braut w/ sauerkraut, German potato salad and red cabbage along w/1 pork chop. Absolutely fantastic! 1 order from the dinner menu- Chicken schnitzel w/red cabbage and cucumber salad, Awesome! Loved the red cabbage. Also a must to get is the fresh rye bread, yes you will eat it all. A must try is Michelle's homemade Apple strudel to finish the meal. Perfect. But order your desert early as they go quickly. This place is a MUST try. Authentic German food. Thank you!

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was delicious. I must say the sauerkraut was the best I ever had. The shank and red cabbage was amazing. Our waitress had a lot of large tables and after we received our food had very little time for us. We must have waited and half hour for our check to come. She kept telling us she was getting it and never did. We finally had to get up to go see the hostess. When we did that we got our waitress attention and she finally gave us our check. I use to be a waitress so I completely understand when you get overwhelmed with to many tables, but you never keep a table waiting 30 minutes. We would go back but not ask for that waitress.

Had a delightful visit. Everything was excellent. The food was fresh and delicious. We will definitely come back. They do need to rethink the parking. This place is way too busy for parking issues. Also, a bench outside would be useful for those of us with walking and standing issues. Full review with pictures at #travelswithjohnandcherrie on Facebook

Horst Gasthaus has a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly and efficient. Their menu is authentic and well-appointed with many choices. They have a great selection of German beers both on tap and in bottles. They also have a few nice German wines on the menu. A light rye bread with caraway seeds, served before diner was fresh and delicious. Cabbage rolls were the special of the night. They were well flavored and server covered with a delicious marinara sauce. The Wiener Schnitzel, lightly breaded and fried, was tender and flavorful and served with a lemon wedge. For sides we sampled the red cabbage, the potato salad, cucumber salad, and the potato dumpling. The red cabbage was sweet and had notes of clove. The potato salad was excellent with a smoky bacon flavor with a light sweet vinegar dressing. The cucumber salad was lightly picked in a mild vinegar. The potato dumpling was savory and served in gravy. The portions were ample, but not too much. Deserts on the night we visited were limited to a Cheesecake and a Lava Cake. We opted not to partake. If you’re in the mood for an authentic German meal in a pleasant atmosphere I would definitely recommend stopping by Horst Gasthaus. Be sure to check out their happy hour specials! They said they would be closed Christmas Eve (2021), but open on Christmas Day if you’re looking for a good meal.

My husband absolutely loves this place. Born in Germany while his dad was in the army and two other deployments there gave him a love for German food and he says this is the best. Whenever we travel, we look for German restaurants and, according to him, this one is the best.
