Under NEW OWNERSHIP and WORTH a revisit. They painted and cleaned up the eating area. I’m sure they’ll improve the lighting as business picks up but I was enthralled at how they fixed up the eating area already. The food was good - I had boiled dumplings which I found quite tasty. The spring was good and my life had Moo Goo Gai Pan which she loved.
The NEW OWNERS, Fang & Gary, were excited to have us. They were quite friendly and wanted our opinions on the dishes they served us. Phoenix (17) and Gabriel (15) were also very welcoming and warm. They did their jobs well.
My pictures are missing - sorry.
Try it now!
Gluten free general tso! Im in heaven. They just reopened with new owners And I'll tell you the food tastes amazing . Fresh not greasy with really caring customer service. The best part for Me though is they have a tun of gluten free options made separately.
For the past few years, they seemed to be mostly take out. I was glad to be able to dine in there today, even if I was the only one. Take out service remained brisk though. I liked that they had 2 menus to choose from. I often choose from their gourmet menu. My go-to dish was always their steamed chicken, which is close to the Hainanise style ginger dish I grew up with. Today, being a wet and soggy rainy day , it only seemed appropriate to have a hot pot. The simple Chinese broccoli adds a bit of crunch to my meal. Savory and delicious.
Great Wall Restaurant serves some of the best chinese food you'll find in western mass. It's not oily, overly sugared, nor full of MSG. The Great Wall was recently sold, and the new owner has maintained the quality of cuisine and some of the old menu and recipes. I recommend the Boneless Ribs and Crab Rangoons, which are made out of the finest ingredients. The interior of the restaurant has been repainted with brighter colors, and the new staff is friendly and accommodating. I look forward to returning to try other dishes.
New owners have improved the atmosphere as its now clean and bright...and most of their menu can be prepared gluten-free! I just enjoyed general Tsos chicken for the first time in 10 years (since my allergy diagnosis)!!! I'll definitely be back to get my Chinese food fix! 😀 😋
Although it currently has the same name, the Great Wall is under new ownership. The food is fabulous. I no longer have to drive to Hadley for good Chinese food. The inside was completely redone and it is clean and bright. The will be adding sushi in the future.
The entire family works together to produce wonderful meals. The lemon chicken was delicious and will be my new favorite. The scallion pancakes make a great appetizer. You can tell the new owners have put a lot of time and effort to clean and update the dining area to make it a pleasant experience.
Have been there twice now, since new owners/management and we have not been disappointed. Tried 2 different specialty dishes, Happy Family Seafood dish and the General Tao Chicken. Both super fresh and made with care. They were delicious. Try them out! You won't regret it!
I would give the food 10 stars if I could! I randomly wandered into this place because I was in the area and wanted to grab a bite to eat. I had the hot and sour soup and vegetable lo mein and both were excellent! A lot of care was definitely taken in making this food. Wish I took pictures. Will be returning often and telling friends about this place. Thank you for an awesome lunch!!
Hi All, Wanted to share my fantastic experience at the Great Wall. Arriving around 8 pm, Saturday, I found the restaurant to be welcoming and not overly busy, with a noticeable focus on takeout orders. Upon entering, the owner greeted us warmly, setting the tone for a friendly and family-owned atmosphere. The tables and dining room were impeccably clean, creating a comfortable environment for our couples' night out.
We, being avid food lovers, decided to explore the menu extensively. Starting with appetizers, we indulged in the Special Dumplings, Boneless Spare Ribs, Wonton with hot sesame sauce, and hot and sour soup – all of which were simply fantastic.
Moving on to the main courses, we savored the Salt and Pepper Pork, Orange Beef, Triple Delight, Stuffed Eggplant, and Baby Bok Choy. Each dish surpassed our expectations.
Although the restaurant offers only beer and wine, I found the selection of Sake was truly wonderful.
I highly recommend Great Wall to fellow food enthusiasts and look forward to returning for another memorable dining experience.
