Travis doesn’t like eggs, but he likes his sweets and sandwiches. When he’s in town, he likes to have a sausage and cheese sandwich on an English muffin with home fries and a short stack of Cinnamon Crisp. Then he has a large juice instead of coffee.
The cinnamon crisp was so good! And the potatoes were perfect.
My cousin got an omelette... Her plate was full of sunshine.
I would def come back. I can see why it's a local favorite.
Place was great! I was a little nervous because I’m from the south and CT just makes scrambled eggs different but they’re perfect here 😭 bringing my family back here again. This is the closest I can get to southern breakfast! I was shocked when I saw biscuits and grits on the menu lol
Best breakfast in New London. Great Omelettes and great Chicken Fried Steak. Staff is very friendly and the food comes out fast. Every is made from scratch.
8/17/2023-Drove to Connecticut again this year and had to come back for the chicken fried steak. Ate breakfast on Tuesday, and ordered 2 "Chicken fried steaks" to take home to NY this morning, but when we got home we got a regular steak and eggs breakfast. I'm sure it's very good, but we come there especially for the Chicken fried steak ( which you can't find on LI. And I was VERY disappointed when I got home. I told "Jared M" over the phone how much we love the Chicken fried steak and how we come there only for that. I must have said Chicken fried steak 4 times over the phone. He should pay more attention when taking orders. I still love "Old Tymes" and will be back next time I'm in Connecticut.
Get the turkey dinner. The turkey dinner was really very good. Real mashed potatoes. Stuffing and gravy were on point. Sides were done perfect. Only disappointment was they stopped serving their extraordinary pies. Visited again from South Carolina was looking forward to the pie.
It honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, but there is so much to look at inside this place. I love the aesthetics with its old sewing machines and farm implements hanging from the walls and rafters. Our server was super friendly, and the service was peppy. I ordered the turkey club with fries and slaw, and ate every crumb, it was so good. Prices aren't bad either, and I see this place becoming our go-to whenever we're in town. My only negative observation is that the whole place looks a little weary and could use some minor upgrades. Maybe better lighting, too.
7.23.22 our 1st time and we loved this old tymes venue because big parking area, friendly staff, good food especially that deep fried cinnamon French toast, oh my goodness it was yum, and it was a nice change of pace from the typical new breakfast cafes. This restaurant has character.
This is hands down one of our favorite breakfast spots. It's a cozy family friendly environment with the nicest staff and delicious food. Their biscuits are made from scratch and heavenly, coffee is always fresh, and portion sizes are perfect. This is the one place we can go and are guaranteed that every single person will be thrilled with every item on their plate.
The Cinnamon Crisp is a must try!! So good!! All the food we got was great. Service was good too!

I had Texas toast French toast and coffee.
My dining partner had a special, with eggs, two blueberry muffins, bacon, and water.
The French toast was ok, a bit longer in the egg wash would have been better in my opinion. The blueberry muffins were pale, and hard. Not recommend as they may be frozen. The service was excellent and outstanding!
The food was amazing! Loved my egg Benedict; the Hollandaise sauce was my favorite! Others loved their Turkey club, Ruben sandwich, Western omelette, and Phil’s Phyne. Everything was delicious and well made.
We will definitely be back for another delicious brunch. Thank you!
