Review Westside Coney Island - Novi

Service was fast and friendly and restaurant clean. They appear to have a good carry out business. Our party had, Club Hamburger and Fries, Smelt dinner with Onion Rings, Chicken Stir Fry, Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp, Children’s Spaghetti. The burger looked good but shockingly little flavor, fries were good. Fettuccine was decent but tiny shrimp and not very many for the added price, Chicken Stir Fry was not good - tasted like a bag meal and veggies were mushy, Smelt and Onion Rings good. Children’s Spaghetti was healthy portion and child liked it. We also had side salads that were fresh.

Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the "Westside Supreme Breakfast" and it was wonderful. Just the right amount of food. My only minor complaint was that the hash browns weren't the usual shredded and chopped and crispy on one side. They were more like spaghetti. It tasted fine, it just wasn't what I was used to.

My carry out was ready on time and the staff was friendly. The omelette was good, and they included all the jams and etc without asking.

Chicken Caesar salad is off the charts good. Huge portions everything, huge menu, breakfast anytime. Great service. Couldn’t find a better restaurant if you tried.

I love, love, love Westside Family Dining! Everyone there is so incredibly kind and they have the best chicken Greek salad around! I literally will find any excuse that I can to go to Wixom/Novi so I can stop in and get that salad! Thank you so much to everyone at Westside!

Seat yourself the sign said when you enter, so I did. It only took a moment for a server to come over and offer me a drink, which I recieved shortly after from a different server. I was not ready to order yet so she said she would give me a minute. Less than a minute later I put down my menu and awaited her return, I figured I would wait and see how long before she came back to check on me and after waiting another 6-7 minutes I made eye contact hoping she would see me and come over but it still took a further minute or two before she made it over to me. I didn't really bother ordering off the menu as I usually order the same breakfast wherever I go. After placing my order I was subtlety upsold on adding the American fries or hashbrowns, I didn't really want either but since I was being asked if hashbrowns were ok and I don't care for them I automatically went with the other option without thinking about it. Right after I noticed on the menu that adding either of those bumped my meal price up by an extra dollar, had I of known this I would have declined them, but no problem I was hungry. The food arrived quickly and the server was very polite. There was no salt on my table so I had to grab one from a neighboring table. They had a fully stocked jelly container though and the sugar looked full. Not far from me someone was requesting part of their food to be redone as it was not cooked correctly, but it was taken care of promptly to their satisfaction. My food arrived exactly as ordered without issue. Almost done with my meal but only half done with my drink and I was offered my free refill. I didn't really want a full refill anyway so I didn't mind, trying to cut back lol. The menu said you get one free refill not sure if that is true or not as I didn't get a second. Food was great, 4 nice sausages, 2 big sunny yolks and a heaped pile of the American fries as well as 2 pieces of toast. The toast was not super dry and not smothered and dripping in butter like I've seen at some places, just about the right amount. The soft drink was fizzy and full of flavor, not watered down tasting, over carbonated or overly syrupy. The place looked clean and tidy and not as busy as Google led me to believe it would be for the time of day but still a few people here. It was a quiet relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and happy looking customers. The old regulars sitting at the counter and a few families and couples dotted about the place. They had a large selection of tasty looking desserts on display but I was already full by the time I was finished with my food. It took a while for someone to come over with my bill after I had finished eating, maybe 10 minutes or so, it's a very laid back and non-rushed experience here. The bill was fairly cheap and I was not rushed to pay and leave. I headed to the counter and was greated by another friendly member of staff, I paid and left a good 55% tip and off I went. A great place overall, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good breakfast, in a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly people, for a very reasonable price.

Excellent breakfast, large portions, cooked exactly the way we ask. Very clean and very friendly waitress.

I shopped here twice each time was a very racist experience!! The second time is what made me write the review. I know we still live in time where racism exists but darn I’m spending money here have some decency she took everyone order who cut me saw me standing in line and everything when it was my turn she walks away didn’t say one moment or anything I was disrespected!! I feel a way about this establishment why they still open to the public is beyond me.

I called because my order was taken incorrectly and I wanted to come back to change it. The server on the phone was extremely rude about it and told me it was MY mistake and she didn't know what I wanted her to do about it. I proceeded to talk to another server, she was just as rude agreeing with the FIRST rude server. THEN, the owner gets in the phone and expresses that the rude service was okay and he can't confirm that I said I wanted chili so the server was right. I tried to explain to him that the food was not the issue. It was the customer service that I received when I called. I told him I eat there all the time and I don't appriciate how I was being talked to. He told me I can take my service where ever I wanted to if I don't like the service. Clearly this place does not care about their customers being respected or losing service over rude servers.

We will be back.....for breakfast. The waitress said they moved from down Beck rd. into the old National Coney Island. We didn't care for National, but we like this place. Good homemade soup, my baby loved her coney, and my corned beef on onion roll was tender. Prices were fair, the place was clean and not too crowded. A good family type restaurant.

I ain't complaining. This is a darn good joint. I especially love their breakfast.

Another Coney Island!. Just what we needed another Coney Island in the area. For such few places in the area to chose from if someone could come up with a better niche it would be great. The food is average like all the rest. They need something that pops and is different. Try something else besides all the standard basics.

Best Deal around. For the money, Westside is the best. Servers are always friendly, food is great and plentiful, and prices are very reasonable. While I never get the water as it is not very good, that is no reason to avoid. Better than National could ever wish to be.<br/><br/>I now live in Chicago but try to make it over there a couple of times a month to catch up with friends and we always go to Westside.

Dirty water!. I came to westside once to try it out and I have to agree with one of the previous posts. Stay clear of the water! Tasted disgusting! The soup is pretty good but the prices are definitely on the high end for a coney island and the place is a bit tiny. OK place but National just north of it is definitely more inviting and offers better prices.

Best value. Large portions, tasty food, and friendly service. Supporting a local restaurant is great but I go there because it offers the best food for the price. Try the cabbage soup if they have it when you visit.

Best Coney Restaurant Around. Our family can always depend on great food here. Salads are fresh,soups are amazing, coney's are awesome, prices are right,all around the best family owned restaurant and coney in the Oakland county area. Highly reccomend to everyone!

Not bad. There's an abundance of Coney joints around this area. This happens to be a small, non-chain, local joint. This brings good and bad qualities. It's got a great atmosphere since it's a little more relaxed/family attitude. However the prices are a little higher than some of the chains and some of the food is not quite as good. A better option than National, just down the road, I think though. And heck, what's a few extra bucks to support a local joint?
