This place is unexpectedly amazing (I would’ve never thought a butcher shop sold this good of food).
Their food is outstanding: it’s basically fancy restaurant quality food for half the price. Everything I’ve tried I’ve loved…I recommend the salmon sandwich, the steak, and any of the sides, like the potatoes.
Staff is super fun and helpful.
As for the meat and seafood counters, I haven’t bought too much because it’s pricey, but what I have is very good quality and local.
I wanted to give a special shoutout to Carnivore. In addition to excellent food; they helped me out when I selected the wrong day for delivery. When I figured out my error I called and they immediately accommodated me on short notice. Great food. Great people. Highly recommend.
Fried Chicken Sandwich is delicious! The meat is seasoned, tender and moist. The fries were hot and seasoned! The guys working there were great! I will definitely be back!
Good food, good meat, good god -get in here!
The product is beyond reproach and the people make it all work.
Need a classic? The rib-eye, the strip, the porterhouse are there in first class examples -if you get there in time.
Want to experiment? Ask for a recommendation and come home with some tri-tip, a flat-iron or some bavette.
Do not forget the fish - the Skuna Bay salmon is fantastic.
Many thanks to Mike and the good folks at Carnivore for another beautiful rib primal, this one to be dry-aged for 70 days (hopefully)! There's no other team in Chicago-land that I'd trust as much as Carnivore to bring such top-notch beef.

Great service! Roast beef sandwich is delish! Fried chicken sandwich is good too. The seasoned fries are the BEST! They also have a nice selection of meats, sausages and seafood, some unique grocery items, local produce and flowers. Also picked up giant crab cakes, lettuce, lemon aioli & pate. When it’s nice out, grab a sandwich and eat at the park across the street. Food is high quality and a great price (sandwich + fries for $12)! I’m sad we did not try this place sooner. It’s definitely worth the visit.
Great shop for fresh locally sourced meats in the village. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They scored my duck breast for me to get the right crispness.
