The food is so amazing. I had the polenta and pork belly. David had the savory French toast and Chris had the breakfast Sando. I declared myself the winner- the polenta was really delicious and just the right amount of cream and cheese. The fresh greens added a nice bite and the pork belly was tender and tasty. I had to get the tuna salad even though it was too much food because it is so delicious! The savory French toast was really good, I've had it before. The rye bread is so subtlety rye, it doesn't overpower the rest of the dish. What a great brunch!
It was my birthday and we were looking for something different. We found this place and thought it sounded great. Love it's casual but hip atmosphere. The vibe is energetic and inviting. We has the smoked fish tower. Pricey ($25) for one, but two of us split it. It is not huge, but we were delighted to fill up on this without filling stuffed or like we had overeaten. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Simply put... loved it! Afterwards, we wandered a few doors down to the Oaktown Spice Shop, which I also highly recommend.
OMG!!! The Pork Belly, Potato and Bacon Soup, and the Squid Crostinis were delicious. They also have good customer service. The only thing I didn't like was the hour and a half waiting list, but hey, there are some sacrifices you have to make for something that good; it was worth it.
This restaurant was a recommendation from our daughter's co-worker. What a great place. Seated within 10 minutes, great service and food. I had the GLK burger, husband and son had the baked chicken dish, our daughter had an egg salad dish. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and drinks. Sat outside and had a wonderful evening. Service was great. We will stop in again when in town to visit our daughter.
First time there and it couldn't have been better. We did the 3-5pm "afternoon" menu and the sandwiches were great! We'll be going back to try the dinner menu.
We had an amazing meal yesterday. Starting from the pickled vegetables, to the egg salad sandwich with fried chicken skin, to the mini donuts. The food was great, the service was thorough and attentive without being overly intrusive. I can't wait to go back.
Eclectic, sublime, lively, small and big, incredible menu (grown up breakfast) and the Vespers are perfect for a James Bondian like me.
Great food, an upmost much appreciated gem in the heart of Oakland right next to another hidden gem of Oakland, Lake Merritt. The food, the atmosphere and the service are all excellent.
I made a reservation through open table and when I got there I was brought right in to a table with a "reserved" sign which made me feel like a VIP. The food and the service was beyond amazing and the grand lake kitchen is now my favorite spot when I feel like indulging myself to a great meal. I love it.
Definitely worth the wait! I had their pastrami Benedict with the baby kale salad. The pouched eggs were cooked just right served on a rye bread. Very friendly wait servers! This has become my favorite go to for brunch!
I love this place because even though a lot of menu items are simple, they are well thought out and delicious. Everything tastes fresh. My favorite is the tuna sandwich and the potato salad.
Enjoyed the food quality and friendly service. A must visit on a trip to OAK
I love this little hidden gem. The food is fresh and the variety is good . They have taken classics and put their twist on them. They are very busy on the weekend so I would make reservations. Staff are friendly and attentive without being invasive.
Delicious food, quick service. Best place for brunch on a weekday in oakland IMO
