Everything is exceptional about this shop! Kickass caffeine, super cool staff, open/sunny space, lots of seating, yummy vittles, eclectic neighborhood...
We came across Hive while staying on the hill above the place. Came to look forward to starting my day with either their avocado toast or goat cheese toast, and their delicious Americano. I love the light from the large windows, the breeze, the variety of tables, the artwork, the music. A great place to work on a novel. Like a lot of great indie coffee places the people behind the counter aren’t unconditionally friendly, but they are friendly in the genuine sense that when you come around and smile at them, they smile back. It doesn’t feel like part of the transaction. I say this in response to a couple of negative yelp reviews I saw that focused on their lacking the Dutch Bros/Starbucks fashion of being loved instantly, which maybe is less sincere. Anyway, I’m gonna miss this place. Oakland and this neighborhood have given me more than I hoped for, and Hive is part of that.
Fantastic coffee, super friendly staff and owners, delicious local organic food (& a gluten free bread options!), sweet ambiance. A great place to study or meet with friends.
Excellent coffee, abundance of flavor in their food (honey-butter biscuits are insane), great vibes inside, and fabulous owner(s). Plan to be here as often as I can be :)

This is one of my favorite cafes in Oakland. There are so many food and drink options, and they're all good. The people who work there are always so kind and nice to talk to. The indoor seating area is cozy but not cramped. The rose cardamom cold brew mocktail is my favorite 🌹
This place is absolutely wonderful. Great local spot to grab coffee, tea, and small bites. I love to come for breakfast on the weekends when they serve fresh biscuits (honey butter, gravy and sausage, or rose creme fraiche) yumm. The chai tea is deliciously spiced and I love using the oat milk as an alternative. Atmosphere is inviting, great to socialize with friends or get work done. There is also a small children's play corner.
Really good coffee and food. I got latte and a BLT. Relaxed atmosphere. Nice music playing at the right volume. I would come back.
