UPDATE: 3 YEARS SINCE MY LAST VISIT AND INTERVIEW. This place is a time machine, taking it back to an Oakland that I used to know, and the ladies at work there are local historians, and just have a vibe that reminds me of 1970s, Fremont high, Flint's BBQ, and a totally different vibe all across Oakland. I love them, and I love this Kasper's for being what it is. Also, real old school Oakland folk come in here and hang out, and it is one of the last islands of real Oakland culture, still surviving in this post.com, and post real estate boom era. Oh my old school Kasper's with a "K", how do I love thee, let me count the ways. These old-school dogs, using their old school Construction, meaning correctly sliced tomato and onion wedges come on steamed buns, it just the right amount of mustard salt and pepper, and are an old-school favorite of Oakland locals, and part of a Dying Food Service condition that only real old schoolers will remember. Enjoy it while it's still here. This is real Oakland food

Kasper's on MacArthur Blvd is one of my absolute favorites. Getting a cheese dog and chatting up the ladies behind the counter. How good does it get. Unfortunately, I think time is not on the side of Kasper's. W Winton closed and San Leandro is next. I fear our beloved Kasper's is in decline 😢😥😢

This place has some amazing hot dogs, nothing too absurd, Just genuine flavor. If you love hot dogs, come and check them out I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. The prices are highly reasonable, the location is easy to get to. You can’t go wrong with these hot dogs.

This place is an Oakland original!! The BEST hotdogs in the Bay Area! They keep it simple and delicious... And the ladies that work here are the sweetest! (cheese dog with cheetos and a root beer)

Hadn't been here in about 3 years but this Kasper's still makes great tasting hot dogs. I bought 2 Kasper dogs with everything. So much better than anything you can make at home, even when you buy the packaged casper hot dogs from Costco, they just don't taste the same. Maybe it's the way they steam the meat and the bread. I usually get the chili cheese but thought I'd keep it light this time And you know what else? Even the same "little old ladies" still work there after all these many many years.
