Great, authentic Ethiopian food made and prepared by traditional Ethiopian women. Its name has a very interesting meaning in Jamaican and Ethiopian settlment connection. The owner Tess, treats everyone who walks through his front doors as if they are most important. It was he who had the vision, long before other bars and restaurants, to move far up north on Broadway, after Jack London was deaded. Local bar feel, but its draw is on international and diverse clientele. Great entertainment.
Be there every third Thursday of each month for open mic! All Talents are welcome and it is an awesomely great crowd!
I love the atmosphere, the management, and the staff! They have welcomed myself and my husband into their extended family with open arms and we look forward to each and every Sunday night where we run Speak Easy Open Mic Showcase and have a GREAT time!!!
Sashamane is so fun on Thursday nights! There is a salsa night every Thursday and we got worked out. And they even named a drink after me. If you go ask for the Laylay - it's a cucumber, mint, grapefruit goodness! One of the reasons it didn't get 5 stars is because I don't like Ethiopian food!
I admire this place a lot. there is a nice atmosphere. The food is good. the service is effective and the crew is courteous. The pay is decent. extremely recommend.
