Imagine my excitement to find a place that serves liver and onions. It was terrifically prepared and presented. The server was cheerful and eager to make our dining experience a great one. The atmosphere was soothing and inviting. The manager treated us to their award winning bread pudding and it was well deserving of that award. Wonderful dessert. We will definitely return again.

My husband and I had coconut shrimp for appetizer then I had Chicken Marsala it was to die for!! The service was great and fast !!! Will add this place on our list to take friends!!!

We went on a Sunday night for a birthday celebration, and everything was excellent, including the service. We started with the Braised Onion Soup, shared the Braised Short Ribs and Shrimp & Grits for dinner, and finished with Chocolate Amaretto Mouse. All food was phenomenal (sangria, too)! Will keep this in mind next time we're in Ocala.

We went here today for lunch. It was fantastic! We started with the onion fritters for an appetizer. They were very flavorful & crispy! The dipping sauces were also very good. I had the grouper fish & chips. The fish was very fresh & moist. My spouse had the shrimp & grits. I'm not a big fan of grits, but i have to say that i tried some & this dish was amazing!! We finished the meal with coconut cream pie & coffee. The coffee was fresh brewed & had a nice flavor. The coconut cream pie was magnificent! I highly recommend any & all of these dishes. Give yourself a nice treat & stop in here for a meal. You won't regret it!

Absolutely amazing! My daughter had a salad with chocolate balsamic vinaigrette that was so delicious. I had the braised pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with mango salsa, potatoes, and string beans that had delicious chunks of bacon which was absolutely amazing! So much flavor in everything! Oh and dessert. Wow, the chocolate mousse, I need another to go!You would love this place! The service was very friendly also. Highly recommend!

This Place Is Definitely a Hidden Gem. Starting with the Service "AMAZING". I was greeted and Seated by Ms. Kristi she was so Sweet, Very Welcoming and so kind. Kristi made my sister and I feel very comfortable for our first time. Our waitress was Ms. Cheri and She was Truly AMAZING. I let her know that it was me and my sister first time there and wanted to know about the menu. Ms. Cheri took her time with us and let us know about everything on the menu, she was very patient and sweet. The Food was definitely 10/10 and the atmosphere was beautiful and definitely a Vibe. Great for a Date, girls Lunch, or a Self care Day. Go I promise you will not be disappointed.

This was TRULY a 5-star experience. Arrived at 11.30a - opening time - and were greeted warmly and sat promptly. The server, TREVOR, was very attentive throughout our visit but never made us feel rushed. The menu is fabulous and we decided to each try an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. What a great decision. In spite of the ordinary recognizable names of the menu items, like fried green tomatoes and bread pudding, nothing they served was ordinary. Their interpretation of every dish and dessert is a huge improvement on the STANDARD that we imagined those items to be. In other words, each time a plate was served we were wowed with the beauty of the plated food and the evident creativity and skill of the chef. I have reviewed many places but this restaurant stands out from the rest. The appetizers we chose were the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp and grits. If you look at the pictures they tell the story. Three beautifully prepared and cornmeal breaded green tomatoes served with crab and corn salad and the house made creole mustard dressing. To die for! The shrimp were similar. Three beautifully prepared and plated colossal Tiger Shrimp that were blackened and served over house made Gouda cheese grits with corn relish and cilantro oil. Just decadent. The main course we had the short rib stroganoff made with braised short ribs and their house made stroganoff sauce, using pappardelle noodles and gorgeous crimini mushrooms. Perfect balance of seasoning and texture. The other entre was the kurobuta pork loin. Made from Berkshire pork, marinated and then wrapped in bacon and oven roasted, with a mango salsa. I got a side of additional mango salsa, it was an unbeatable harmony of flavors with the pork. The green beans had chunks of pork belly and the mashed potatoes served in a small dish were combined with roasted herbs and garlic parmesan butter. And then toasted to a beautifully textured, crusted top layer. Then we got dessert. They employ a world class pastry chef that makes all of the desserts in-house, daily. Even and the ice cream is made in house. The coconut cream pie - toasted coconut mixed into the house made filling which has fresh shaved vanilla, topped with whipped cream, caramel and more toasted coconut. Delectable! The bread pudding was a work of art! Served chilled with amaretto soaked raisins and a creamy vanilla base, finished with caramelized sugar and toasted almond. And the bread topping was charred toasted to bring out the flavor. The bread pudding is plated with diagonally placed mirror servings of whipped cream garnished with blue berries, raspberry and a strawberry. A true delicacy that looked as good as it tasted. We both ate the desserts completely! This restaurant is NOT to be missed! I drove an hour to visit for the first time and will definitely be back. And will bring friends!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. It’s perfect for a large celebration or a more intimate romantic dinner. It’s sophisticated and for a refined pallet, but they make everything from scratch and are willing to eliminate ingredients for people with food sensitivities. We had a fam reunion dinner of sorts here. We had a very short wait before being sat and served drinks by the wait staff. Our appetizer and soup/salads came out quickly and the main course was worth the wait. Coming from NYC and most recently Miami, I’ve had some of the most unique and unforgettable dishes. It’s on par with any Michelin star restaurant (Boulu Sud’s 3 Michelin star restaurant comes to mind), and is a must taste for Ocala. It’s worth the wait, worth the price and I only wish I had indulged in the bread pudding. It will be on my mind forever now. I think Matt was our server and he was also very knowledgeable and very helpful throughout our dinner. Please go and enjoy this amazing place, but do make reservations.

10 out of 10!!! This was our first time here and it was fantastic. Our server Matt was on top of drinks and checking in on us. The cook Jay knocked it out of the park. Definitely would go back!

We had lunch today 4 adults and 3 little children for the very first time & I was a little nervous because #1 I am a chef at home and cook divine, clean organic food and #2 some reviews were negative but I prayed and I have 0 complaints! From the moment we walked in we were warmly greeted and made eye contact and we’re seated right away which made me feel very welcome. Everyone had something different to eat and it was all exceptional! Fresh, beautiful presentation, tasty, perfectly cooked (wow especially the shrimp!) & you can tell the chef took time to make everything spectacular and it really was! Deserts absolutely amazing! We had a fantastic time and the atmosphere was warm and inviting! We will definitely soon return! The reason for the 4 stars is this: I asked for a desert that I saw online and waiter said he would check with the party chef guaranteeing me that she would be able to make it then he said she was on break then he brought the check but never asked me if I wanted something else or apologize for not having it made for me, disappointing. Also no quiche, no lobster and seafood also disappointing.

Happened upon this place after leaving Silver Springs and I look forward to going back. The staff, vibes and food were excellent. I had the bourbon ribeye and it was great. I tasted some of the other dishes and look forward to trying more from their menu.

The service and food was absolutely fantastic! We will definitely be returning. Do yourself a favor and ask for the dessert menu. I had the chocolate mousse and my husband had the Kahlua and coffee. Totally stuffed but 100% worth it.

Four of us for late lunch yesterday at 2:30pm. First time for two of us. Absolutely delightful experience. No rushing us by the staff. Plenty of time to visit. We sat in the bar area with not too many people and comfy seating. Service was perfect. Could see we were talking and gave us plenty of time. The crab cakes were perfect — 99% crab! Really really good and served with a mango salsa and delicious sauce. Other items ordered and pictures attached. Can’t wait to return!

The food and experience was phenomenal! We came for my friend’s bachelorette event and they did not disappoint! The server Camden was incredibly engaging and recommended a lot of amazing choices and the complimentary bread was a nice touch! Will definitely be back whenever I am in Ocala in the future

Alex was an amazing server who was very attentive to us. It’s rare to find servers who make you feel at home, but Alex did just that. He made us feel like we had known each other for a while. From the service to the laughs we had a great time. Will definitely be back again! Oh yeah lol I forgot the Food! It was so good! I had the braised beef short ribs stroganoff and my wife had the pecan crusted salmon which were both very spectacular. Homemade ice cream was delicious as well!

What a gem. Worth the visit. We got the onion fritter app and it was perfection. Served hot and both sauces were a delight. Crispy on the outside with a wonderful blend of shredded onions on the inside. I chose the shrimp and grits for my entree and it was awesome. Huge shrimp with mashed grits enveloped in a wonderful sauce. Went for it with dessert as we saw they have an in-house pastry chef. Chose the coconut pie and it was out of of this world. Lots of care to make this pie. Home made crust, real coconut and a great filling. Wonderful flavor. Fantastic service. They even brewed me a cup of decaf coffee. We will be back because of the care of the food, the service and it is a local establishment. Please give this place a try.

I love this place. Great food, great service , upscale but unpretentious atmosphere. I love family run businesses. Especially when its done so well. Keep up the great work. I only regret not taking pictures to share with Y'all. Give em a try. They do get busy so a reservation is always a good idea

First time dining at Braised Onion. Alex our waiter was great. He was courteous, knowledgeable and attentive. Food was excellent, prime rib and pappardelle top notch.
