Your portion size is generous, the atmosphere is charming, your take out service is fantastic. you cater to my special request to have alfredo sauce instead of red sauce on my fruity d mar. Our family favorite restaurant!!
Listen up, Sammy. This is ridiculous. I had your pizza for the first time about a year ago, and I am more than just a little upset with you. Since I tried your pizza, I have gone to every restaurant in town and tried their pizza, hoping I would find something I liked. No, your delicious and affordable pizza has made it impossible to enjoy pizza anywhere else. Why do you have to have such an authentic New York style? Why do you have to advertise your patriotism and respect for law enforcement on your walls? Why is it that when I pay at the counter, you all are always so lovely and welcoming? Huh!? Tell me why your restaurant is so awesome, and I have to go back as often as possible? Nevermind, I'll just ask in person one of the multiple times I visit every month.
Ordered chicken a la sam - buttery, with red peppers, artichokes and rotini pasta. Tasty. A bit too oily for me. Large portion, could only eat half. Salad was a bit skimpy having just 1 olive, 2 tiny tomatoes, 2 slices of cucumber. My partner ordered 2 baked, huge ravioli stuffed with eggplant and loved it. The women's bathroom leaves a lot to be desired and desperately needs a coat of paint and a thorough scrubbing. The faux stucco attempt looks more like a tike smeared feces on the wall. There were long, old runnlets of discoloration from water dripping down the walls in several places. Service was friendly. Food delivered quickly.
Sammy and his family run a magnificent business. Order anything from their menu and you will not be disappointed but my all time favorite is Frutti Di Mare, if you like sea food you must try this dish.
March 26 2016,,,,,We have looked around, trying new places and found this place. First time we had the chicken parm. Delicious. 2nd time we went there we tried the Chicken ala sam. Delicious again. What a place. nice atmosphere. We now go there regularly. For Italian fare this is the best along with very reasonable pricing. I would expect this place to expand shortly. He does most of the cooking himself. I don't know about the pizza but I'm not a pizza fan.

Hit or miss. I've been there before and had gotten a pizza and it was very fresh and flavorful. I then recently have been there ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich. They didn't let the sandwich cool so they let the two strips of cheese they slathered on, stick to the foil it was wrapped in. Besides that, the sandwich ingredients were seemingly fresh, could have been warmed a bit more however.
Eggplant Parmigian. Always good I like tomato sauce on the side.
Consisently good food. Eggplant rollatini, white pie is hittin' people are nice whether you dine in or take out. New york style, nice marinara. Hwy 200 jasmine plaza.
Good experience. The 4 of us were looking for an Italian restaurant close by and had heard about how good the food was at Sammy's. we decided to try it.
We started with calamari, which was excellent.
I ordered the ravioli special. It came with soup or salad and I went with soup. It was a good choice. I had pasta fagoili and so did my bro-in-law. We both enjoyed it very much. The ravioli were a good size and the gravy was very good as well. My sister also ordered it and she, also, enjoyed the gravy.
My girlfriend had the chicken parm. Good portion and it wasn't patties.
Would definitely eat there again. Prices were reasonable. Bread is baked onsite. Overall it was a good experience.
Very satisfied. Good food, good mom & pop service. Prices were great. Soft drinks, salad, garlic bread, and a pizza for around $20. Hard to beat that when the dough didn't come out of an old stinky freezer.
Great food! I'm huge fan of the mom and pop type places and I highly recommend this restaurant. Ive had Italian from Lil Italy NYC down to ft lauderdale Florida and tons of
places in between and this ranks among the best. Really impressed! Only thing that was lacking was our waitress, she was very forgetful. Other waitresses were right on point but ours was lacking, we even noticed her messing up at other tables and patrons getting upset. Only problem I had though, still wouldn't stop me from going back in the least.
This is the best pizza to a New York Pizza I can get in Ocala.
Good Italian food and friendly waitresses. Tasty pizza and pasta dishes. Chicken a la Sam is pretty good, bit they could leave out half the garlic and make it better. Garlic bread with cheese was a real disappointment - not at all in keeping with their other yummy food. Linguini Alfredo with shrimp was very good, though the alfredo sauce was a bit thick and heavy.
The pizza and Greek salad were great and our waitress was awesome! I am always skeptical of little restaurants in shopping plazas especially being 7 months pregnant and starving, I was a little concerned about eating here. But it turned out to be pretty good and one to add to our list.

I want to start off by saying that this review is based solely on take out pizza. So the sit down restaurant could be different. Anyway, I ordered a large pizza from Sammy's based on a recommendation.
Sammy's was touted as having New York style pizza. Although Sammy's was not the best pizza I ever had. It is by far, (so far) the best pizza I have had in Florida. More so in the Ocala area. I'm not saying it is the best. Only that they are the best we have had up to this point.
Sammy's actually does seem like New York's style pizza. At least almost. But without a doubt, they actually make good pizza. It is close enough to New York style to make most folks happy. As such, I have given them five stars which I rarely give out. Again, it is not the best pizza I have ever had. But it is the best I have had in Florida (so far). (Edit to add: There is another restaurant that also makes very good pizza. So there are now two I've had)
The price was not outrageous either. I paid close to the same price for a smaller pizza (same toppings) from a competitor, just the other day. Nothing is cheap nowadays. But Sammy's price didn't seem like they were trying to take advantage like some other places. So for an actually decent pizza, at a fairly decent price, Sammy's did it for me. I guess that I'm going to have to try out the actual restaurant.

The calamari was the best we’ve ever had, so fresh. My husband had the special, Spaghetti & Meatballs & loved it. I had Mussels over pasta, fabulous!! Some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had. Will definitely go back. Excellent service too!!
First time (but not the last) at Sammy's! They bill themselves as a NY Italian restaurant... Walking in the door and taking a sniff was all it took for me to know that's a true statement! Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu and specials of the day. Our dinner came out quickly and was very well prepared. Pizza might have been a little more well done to have the "NY Feel" that I remember, but it was soooo close that it didn't matter. Prices are very reasonable. Can't say enough about the fantastic staff! Everyone who walked by the table took a peek to see if there was anything we might want or need for our dinner. We will definitely be back to sample more of the menu! Thanks for a great dining experience!
Best pizza so far on Ocala area. Really tasted like New York style 😋. Made me feel like I was back home in New Jersey/New York even though Florida is my home now and I love it here.
Ordered a large pie half ham and sausage asked for the crust to be crispy. The music playing brought me back to the Bronx getting a slice and listening to oldies and talking about those days with the owner I felt very comfortable there .
The pizzas taste great! It has great flavor and the crust is tasty as well. The only thing I didn’t really like their garden salad, they barely put any tomatoes or cucumbers. Other than that, I would definitely order from here again.
Stopped in on a recommendation from a coworker and was happy with the decision! I had the chicken parm and ziti, huge portions that I took half home and enjoyed the next day. I'll definitely be back.
I just loved this place! The salad and chicken parm I had was fabulous. Can't wait to be back in town again to go back.
