Reviews Horse & Hounds Restaurant

This was our first visit to Horse and Hounds. We originally saw it on our way to Cedar Key. After checking out their menu we decided to try it on our way home. We are glad we did. We loved the atmosphere when we walked in. We started with their tomato soup. It was a wonderful surprise. It was light and the fresh tomatoes were obvious. I then had the Shepherd’s Pie. It was meaty and flavorful. My wife ordered a NY Strip medium rare with fries. When the steak came out it was well done no pink on the inside. When we showed our server he immediately took it back and was very apologetic. I was surprised how quickly they brought out another steak with fries. The manger brought it out to us and stayed to make sure it was cooked as ordered. It was a perfect medium rare…..The restaurant then comped us a desert and we had Key Lime Pie. The pie was very good but it was one of the best graham cracker crusts I’ve ever had on a Key Lime pie. I was really impressed with the service. The fact that they were observant and intuitive and we hardly had to say anything for them to know things needed to be corrected is just stellar. This is a diamond for the Ocala community.

In town visiting family and wanted a place that was dog friendly with great outdoor seating. This placed fit the bill and then some. We had good drinks had our pups on a covered patio with lots of seating. They had a good bar inside with good booth options. Our server was sweet and attentive with good suggestions. Live music outside really made our time there even better. Group favorites include salmon, Cajun pasta, and burgers. Cheers!!

Overall pretty good service. I ate the Philly cheese steak ( basically steak ems, cheese n green peppers) bread was fresh and soft. Not sure if I was overly hungry or if the sandwich was really that good. I have had better Philly sandwiches at other places due to the quality of meat. Steak-ems vs sliced steak. I'd stop by here again.

Good little restaurant with live music. We stopped by for a mid-day snack of fried pickles (very good) and some French fries (served warm but still tasty). The ambiance was nice and pricing fair. Service was good as well.

I've been eyeing this pub for well over two years, and I finally made it! What a cute building, inside and out. It sure has plenty of outdoor seating and indoor tables. But most importantly, it was absolutely delicious! I got the bangers and mash which came with three sausage links and the perfect blend of choppy mashed potatoes with a moat of onion-based gravy. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting, but it surely won't go to waste. I can't wait to go back!
