Drive thru wait time was crazy but the food is great for "fast food"! The chicken was seasoned well. Not just the breading but the chicken tasted great throughout. Everything was cooked well. I read a review that says this was better than Bojangles and I agree. Just make sure you have some time to spare before you order
Fried chicken is no doubt one of our favorite food and Lee's cooks it perfectly. We really love their chicken. Please bring one of your restaurant to Sarasota area.
I love love love their chicken. It’s cooked just right wether it’s pieces or tenders it’s just right. The ratio of crunchy to the actual chicken meat of the tender is just right. Real chicken not just fried batter. Their sides are just as tasty I usually go for the mashed potatoes and gravy with a biscuit. Plus the free two piece meal on your birthday is a definite win!
I have been eating here for many, many years but I had an experience with them this past week that was out of the norm from what/when/how I normally order due to it being a very large order. Unfortunately, because I didn't think to call ahead or order online, I had to wait for them to make it special so that it would not mess up there lunch rush by me taking too much of the food being prepared. That gave me a little time to sit & watch. While I had nothing better to do than watch the process... WHAT A WELL OILED MACHINE they have there at the 40 East Ocala, FL location!! That staff works amazing with each other while keeping the place clean & amazing customer service, even during a 12 noon lunch rush on Fri! Obvious great management & a team of employees that really care about your dining experience & their job! Way to go guys!! Very Impressed.....
Great food. The chicken definitely stands out from other fried chicken places. Definitely affordable, and the potato wedges are unique and delicious. The biscuits are AMAZING!!! Some of the best ever. It wasn't busy, the staff were very friendly. Good service.
You need to manage expectations when visiting Lee's. The staff is overworked, the small dining area is not comfortable, and there is a good-sized line at the drive-thru. All that being said, I was quite impressed with the fried chicken. I got the regular recipe (not spicy), and I was quite pleased. I thought the prices were reasonable in this day and age. The employee at the register was basically manning the front by herself. She was stressed but handled it well. I would probably recommend the drive-thru to avoid the frustration inside.
First time here and really enjoyed everything! They have great chicken and sides to go with it. The place itself is a little cramped, but cozy. The food and pricing make up for it though. My boyfriend did think that the portions of sides were a bit underwhelming, but he a big eater. I was totally satisfied with mine and left with a full stomach. We'll definitely return!
This is my first time having Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken and it didn't disappoint! The chicken tenders were juicy, and breaded to perfection, the mashed potatoes and gravy - were divine much better than KFC, the cole slaw was tasty, and the biscuit was good. I'll definitely be back!
Mmmm, soft biscuits that melts in your mouth. I got a 3 piece mixed snack. 1 hot and 2 regular. The hot had a great kick that wasn't uncomfortable. Could I take Spicer? Yes. However, Lee's chicken was hot and moist. 4 stars for food bc it didn't taste honey dipped like as subscribed. However, It wasn't salty either, which I really enjoyed. I'm new to the area where I'm used to Popeyes, kfc (when it was good), and churches (when it was open). My 14yr son enjoyed the taste as well. Prices are the same as everywhere else. I never went inside but it was full. I'm ready to taste test the whole menu .
This is been my only fried chicken restaurant since they've opened it's been my go-to as long as I can remember. They always have great chicken it's always juicy it's never dry their sides are awesome. And all the years I've been going there I've never had a bad experience or bad food and I wouldn't go anywhere else
Great place to get some fried chicken. If you love fried chicken this is a must if your in the area. Staff was super friendly and took care of all our needs. Best coleslaw in the country!
Stopped for lunch for the first time. My wife was very impressed with the chicken. It was very busy, and we had to wait a bit in line. It was worth the wait!
Never heard of this restaurant until driving by. So glad we stopped at this local favorite. Really busy, but very efficient staff keeps lines moving and everyone happy. Absolutely fantastic chicken and sides. Good prices and large portions. So glad we stopped and are looking forward to the next visit.
I'd give 5 stars but im deducting a star because if you forget to scan your receipt for rewards in the app then your sol ...for me that leaves a bad taste because we moved out here and had to eat out for a month straight due to the remodel on our home so when I say ive spent over 300 in a month I'm probably under lol so when I found out about rewards I was all excited only to be disappointed because a week or 2 is too late to scan the reciept 😒 but everything here is always spot on!
We visited Lees in ocala, and the chicken was tasty. The mac n cheese i ordered wasn't good. Similar to kraft. Pretty unappealing. But we all know that they are really known for their chicken. Tasty and delicious!
Three staff works hard to get your order right kn the first try. This is an oldy goldy place in Ocala. Been going there for decades. The environment is a little ruff around the edges and its a tad small but the food is always good, hot and fresh.
Drive thru. Wish the food wasn't so much. Really like it. But too expensive for a family on a budget
