I make it a point to eat at this place when I go to the KC area. Authentic delicious food with plenty serving size. Usually enough for my next meal. Highly recommend this place.
Authentic Mexican food. Lots of protein choices to go with however you want them. Tacos, burritos, gorditas, tortas and quesadillas. I went on Sunday about 11 am to have menudo and the line was backed up, the 10 minute wait was worth it. Most the clientele were Latinos so you know the place is legit. Saw military service members and several Caucasian folks there for good food. Lots of families with kids in-tow chowing down. As I was walking out more people were pouring in. Second time for me won’t be the last.
As far as the food, I've only had the tacos they were ok, I prefer the tacos from the Minnesota location. That being said, the pan Dulce at the Olathe location literally made me cry it was so good! It's a bit of a drive but omg I'm so going back!
Food is great with a great selection. One problem I had was I felt like I was intruding. I felt like they didnt like white people in there store. The cashier only spoke spanish to me and acted as if I was insulting her.Even so I married into a mexican family and love mexicans I cant believe I was treated that way.
This is food counter inside a grocery store and it serves authentic Mexican food. We all ordered what I would describe as street tacos. They were fresh and tortillas were amazing. I had chicken and steak both. I liked both but really enjoyed the flavor of the steak. They have a salsa bar to allow you to customize your items to your taste.
This place is amazing. I have been going to the KCK location for a while on Tuesdays for amazing tacos. It's nice that they have opened this one as well. My dad lives up the street and we eat here on Sundays all the time. I am a big fan of mexican food. It is by far my favorite, however, my son hasn't always been the biggest fan until I brought him here. I never took him to the other location but now he can't get enough. I highly recommend the barbacoa (made the real way from beef cheeks not like that crap chipotle calls barbacoa but really isn't) it literally melts in your mouth. And the borrego (seasoned steamed lamb) is melt in your mouth tender as well. Anyone who goes here will love this place. They have a restaurant right next door that is always packed. They are owned by the same people that own the grocery/taqueria and have all the same things. We plan on trying it soon and we will be back here for taco tuesday every week.
Authentic style Mexican food. They have a great variety for Taco Tuesday, but not the other days of the week. I had the Asada and the Lengua tacos and they were good. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but the best I've had so far in Kansas City. I did get a couple thing from the bakery and they were delicious as well. I would definitely reccomend this place.
A Great Value on Taco Tuesdays. I ordered a variety of tacos ($1.00 each on Taco Tuesday) with a drink ($1.79) at the counter. Several meats were available, although I did not see a list, and the meats were not labeled. An extensive salsa bar was available (see pic). The tacos were generously packed with delicious meats, and topped with onions and cilantro. The service was quick, but not too friendly, the dining area was clean, and there was no music playing. My value-adjusted score is 8.5/10.0.
Love this place. Great carne asada and homemade tortillas. Truely legit Mexican and I've had the best being from so cal. Great hot salsas too!
Been dying to try the new place-WOW!. It's every bit as fantastic as the KCK location-maybe a little more expensive??? Not sure about the prices-it's been awhile since we've made the trek to KCK, but the food is outstanding! I can go here on my lunch hour and I will be. Had gordita's and a taco, my friends had the "tres amigos" no one had any complaints each of us oooo-ing and ahhhhh-ing after every bite. Top it off with a Jarritos or a fresh pastry--Lordy, Lordy! My husband will be jealous and I will get a second trip back!
As Mexican as Mexican Gets. For those that don't know, this is a Mexican grocery that has a restaurant inside it. I had a steak burrito, with rice, lettuce, pico, refried beans, and cheese in it. I grew up in southern California, and all I can say is, it was like going back to Cali.
I should issue a couple warnings for "gringos" like me. First, the salsas in the tubs on the tables are spiced for the mexican palate, so be warned, it will test your spice fortitude. Also, make sure you READ the descriptions of the different meats on the menu, because traditionally, meat is expensive, so when mixicans butcher, they use all, and I mean ALL the parts of the animal. Americans, on the other hand, have a tendency to be picky about what meats we eat. As an example, beef tongue and cheek are both on the menu.
I also noticed they have the traditional tortilla chips I grew up on, which are super thick and crunchy. I look forward to many, many, meals here.
Has the be the Best place in the city for Tacos!!! A must have is the Carne Asada. Hands down one of my favorites. It's best to go on Tuesday or Friday as they will have sales but I not sure if the Carne Asada is ever on sale.. So get the Carnitas cilantro and onion. Don't mind paying the price for the quality as it is tops. I have never ordered a "Meal" however I have many friends who like other items on their menu as well, I can only tell you about the tacos. Salsa Verde is great and the Pico is on point, it's the perfect amount of spicy. The Rojo sauce is also a must if you like real authentic Tacos. My teen was amazed when I took him here. I told him it was the closest think in KC i found to where I grew up (So Cal). This location also has the extensive Mexican pastry shelf... don't forget to stop and get fresh flower tortillas on your way home if you want to up your Mexican Hamade game. The inside reminds me of my childhood but if you are looking for a Johnson county Typical Mexican Experience, this isn't for you. This is for they ones that know that tacos are eaten along with a soda in a bottle... My personal Favorite soda with Tacos is Orange Jarritos in the bottle. They keep the sodas at the register in Ice, the way the Lord intended it.
Stumbled across this place when I first moved up here...and I've been coming back ever since. It used to be a 37 minutes each way trip...now I've moved closer and it's just a couple minutes from me!! 🥳🥳 They have all kinds of delicious bakery items, cakes, groceries, meat counter...tons of great things. The best thing to stop by and grab is their tacos! They have almost anything you would want...it's always fresh and delicious. The service has never once been bad or made to feel rushed. It's like going to your own families store.... Very welcoming. I can't say enough great things about everything they offer...you'll just have to try it for yourself! They have great taco Tuesday specials too!
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants around olathe/Overland Park. I love 7 tacos el pastor with orange sauce. The Mexican coke is super good too. The people are friendly and you get your food fast. 5 stars!
Just amazing. The ceviche is amazing. On Tuesday they have a taco special. If you like street taco, this is the place to go in Olathe
Great street tacos. I just found this grocery restaurant and can't wait to come back. Counter service and very authentic. Not a hidden gem anymore!
