Ordered the poke bowl the ahi was perfect. Also had a few oysters on the half and were very good with the house made cocktail sauce and horseradish. Definitely will come back with friends. And I would recommend Shucks to anyone looking for a great seafood meal.
Our first time here and chose it because they have a large amount of gluten free selections. When celiac eat at restaurants that say they have some gluten free items and you find they meant the salad minus the croutons, you revel whenever you can eat at a place like Shucks that has many main menu choices as GF. What's even better is their food is delicious too. We will be back. Often!
Food was delicious. I had all 6 oysters from the special today. All very good. I was debating between the shrimp
Scampi and the Creamy Risotto. I went with the Risotto which was amazing. The sauce was perfect. The portion was huge. Great service and food recommendations from
the staff.
Ordered the shrimp po boy combo. I choose the gumbo as my side. Was definitely presently surprised considering the first time I tried it was in Mississippi and I did not like it. Shrimp was fresh and the breading on it was crispy, not to forget the sauce that came with it👌🏼. The three baby cakes reminded me of the Dunkin doughnuts breakfast tots which are my favorite. We will be definitely be going back to this place.
My dad and I went here tonight and as expected it was busy because of Lent. We were accidentally seated at a table when it should've gone to someone else. The staff handled the situation so well, explaining it to us, apologizing profusely, and being very generous and accommodating of us. They treated us exceptionally. On top of that, the lobster roll was as amazing as ever. We've always loved the food here but will be coming back enthusiastically because of the amazing service. Mistakes happen, but Shucks responded kindly and generously, and it impressed us.
Great food and staff! Great gluten free beer and food!
I have never had anything to eat here I didn't like + everyone is so nice. They treat me like family and you can't beat their happy hour. I love this place. Everything is fresh.
We have never been able to have breaded options for gluten free unless we eat at home!!! Fantastic experience!! We will be back!! If you have gluten/wheat allergies like we have in our family PLEASE check this place out!!! It passed the test for us!! Bravo to you guys!! Plus the food tasted amazing !!!
Great service, awesome food. Biggest plus for myself and daughter, celiac aproved!! Knowledgeable staff + great food = not getting sick. Which makes Shucks one of my favorite places to dine at in Omaha! ❤️
Great seafood and ambiance. Lots of shrimp on entrees. Calamari and crab cakes were excellent too. Will come back and bring friends!
The best place in Omaha to eat!! The shrimp and oysters are amazing! I get a different dish every visit and we love the atmosphere!!!
Love this place! Gotta have the Deep South risotto. It's so delicious and I love oysters! I'm glad to have discovered this place. I'm a satisfied customer!
Extensive gluten-free menu. Excellent food. Great bloody mary. Wish we had one in Waukee.
I can’t believe we had never eaten here before! It was so amazing!!!! We will definitely be back
Outstanding service and Great Food !!! The only place I’ve ate seafood any freasher was on the coast !!!
Awesome experience last night at Shucks! Our server Savannah made us feel like we were long time regulars, and the food was outstanding. We will return next year!
Another great meal. Tonight's special was the shrimp poblano and it was amazing. Don't forget to order a cup of the lobster bisque. The Moscow mule was delicious too.
First time here and wow. Prices are hi for fresh but it's fresh all right. Tuna is OMG. Lobster roll in heaven. Heard this location is best. We agree
Feels like home, so good. I came in here before I had even moved into my apartment. The bartender was friendly and cracked jokes and just was in general comfortable. The food was good and I felt like it was a place for relaxing, a place where you want to become a regular.
The food was tasty and while it's not as showy as Plank, they definitely know their seafood.
Strongly recommend.
Good seafood in south downtown Omaha. Tried the Leavenworth Street Shuck's a few weeks ago with visiting friends. We were all pleasantly surprised by the items we ordered. One of us had the fried walleye, which she found delicious. The Deep South Risotto, something I'd never thought I'd say before going to Shuck's, was extremely tasty. And the bill was not overly large for what we ordered. Service was quick and polite as well. Will definitely go back.
Outstanding all around!. Let me just start out by saying that this is, by far, the best location of the three Shucks locations. The specials for both lunch and dinner are always delicious and never fail to push the envelope of creativity. I mean, where else can you get a Smoked Salmon Reuben or Sushi Tacos? For that matter, would you really trust anyone else to do seafood the way Absolutely Fresh does? As a bonus, the wait staff are always friendly and attentive without being overly so.
Gustatory. Moved into Dixie Quicks old digs. Good sea food. Keeps eyes open for sea food specials.
Po' What?. Ok, admittedly I didn't think it was possible, but man-o-man can this place make a po' boy! Ca c'est bon - as they say down in Cajun country. The jambalaya and gumbo are solid, but their po' boys are worth the trip!
Tasty. Po Boys and bloody marys. That's all you really need, right? Salmon BLT is good too, as it the jambalaya.
We had a lovely and delicious lunch here on the patio. The shrimp pivot was perfect with a yummy sauce and super fresh bread. A good value. Don't go to joes crab shack come here. We loved it
Oysters!. Got to love this joint. We've been done twice for happy hour which is a bargain. Nothing fancy but sometimes it's great to sit outside and slurp some oysters and drink some beers. Reminds me of being in New Orleans. Like the catfish fingers, too. And the gumbo is pretty darn good which is high praise coming from a Cajun who's eaten the real deal since childhood. One comment -- some of the oyster shuckers are better than others. Gotta watch for shell chips if you get an inexperienced one.
Really Solid. My old man takes me here all the time to get my fish and chips fix. It's hard to find good fish in town but Shucks is consistently good.
Great Place. I eat here at least once a week. The entire menu is fantastic, and the servers are awesome. One of the best happy hours downtown.
Great addition to downtown. Completely remodeled from its Dixie Quicks days, this south downtown restaurant is sure to be a hit. The menu leans heavily toward casual comfort food, with an emphasis on fish and seafood. A number of items have a Louisiana twist. I recently tried their gumbo, and can honestly say it was as good as anything I have sampled in my several visits to Louisiana!
There is a secluded outdoor patio for nice weather, or you can eat at the bar or in one of the two dining rooms.
Weekends offer a mid day brunch, featuring traditional American breakfast fare done up with flair. Service is friendly (although not always prompt) and prices are about what you would expect, mostly in the $8-12 range. Street parking is available.
Wow!!! Best oysters I've ever had. So fresh, it was like they came straight from the sea to our table. We will definitely be regulars at the downtown location.
Shucks Fish House and Oyster Bar opened a new downtown location on 19th and Leavenworth (previously Dixie Quick’s) earlier this year. They have a casual, seashore, dive atmosphere and friendly, good service. I am delighted that Shucks is now in the downtown area. I have visited Shucks Downtown (and Shucks Pacific) on several occasions. Shucks is the place to go to for raw oysters in Omaha. And, I love raw oysters. On each visit, I always order their raw oysters and leave happy and satisfied. Shucks raw oyster is a refreshing, full-body morsel of tasting pleasure. I like to add lemon, horseradish, and, some times, hot sauce. When the oyster hits your tongue it’s a cool ocean touch, then I chew for an ocean-sweet experience. I then slurp up the remaining oy
Late review: We were here at 12:45. It was a little busy because of lunch times. The food takes almost half an hour for some reason. The waitress kinda nice, but she so hurries. She did not even listen to all the orders, and of course, she came back and asked again. The food was delicious, but it would take me a while to come back here.
Five stars for the great quality seafood/oyster bar. The oysters here are great and flown in next-day, so they live up to their name. Fish tastes fresh. The shrimp is great and the clam chowder is too. Happy hour offers seafood and non-seafood options. A fun spot to hit up for lunch or after work. Decor and atmosphere nice for the whole family. Side note: personal preference is to use harder roll on the poboys, but that doesn't take away.
You are near downtown Omaha and there is this place that looks like it might be down on the docks in New Orleans, you enter, paper table coverings, a bar, good beer and very good seafood. No white table cloths, no pretentious surroundings, just a dockside bar with great seafood. The Gumbo was terrific! Omaha, NE, who knew.
Great service and wonderful easy atmosphere. The staff are very friendly asking about where your from? Are you a tourist or local.. and providing recommendations about where to go if you have any question... the food.. is wonderful. The best oysters, with a great selection of oysters available. The lobster stuffed mushrooms, great hot appetizer... can't forget the oyster shooter... best way to suck an oyster down.
My family and I were in town for my oldest daughter's dance competition. We were lucky to find a seafood restaurant still open after competition night that accommodated our Lenten sacrifice. If you love seafood, you have to give this place a try. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and had our kids wanting more! A plus for the kids was being able to draw on the paper strewn out over the table. Kids got a big kick out of that!
Just stopping by to have some good seafood while in town, I came across this gem of an establishment. I wanted a light meal and I did just that; catfish bites, grilled oysters and a strawberry lemonade that the waitress/ bartender prepared for me. The staff was helpful & friendly, even allowed to park my e-bike inside.
We popped in for a relaxed date night. Always great food, attentive and serious servers, reasonable prices. Definitely a top notch place. The patio was nice that night, in the shade, quiet, gave us great ambiance. Had some NAs for those who enjoy alcohol free options. Below is the Gruben, a Ruben using Grouper rather than Pastromi, and the shrimp and cornbread special
Great happy hour specials ! Very local with best oyster deal in town. Loved their peel and eat shrimp as well and clam strip. Wish I have more time to sample all the foods on the menu
Wonderful atmosphere! They have patio seating if it’s a nice day it might be fun to sit out there. The customer service was fantastic. I’m so impressed with their selection of allergy friendly foods! I got a po boy and it wasn’t to spicy for my sensitive palate so I very much appreciate that. It was a little chilly in there so maybe bring a light cardigan
Seafood in Omaha? I was skeptical. Shucks removed that skepticism rather quickly. I sat at the bar where I had oysters being prepared for me. The happy hour was solid, $1 an oyster. I think the oysters were called the early points? Not my favorite type of oyster but it got the job done.
The seafood enchilada was the star of the show. The slaw and rice it came with was a nice contrast to the enchilada itself. Nice chunks of shrimp and fish, it came out piping hot! You know you made the right choice when your server tells you "good choice", it's always reassuring. Lol given how good the dinner was, I had to try the key lime pie. The pie was delicious, but I've had better.
I would definitely come back here when in Omaha.

Great staff very friendly and quick to make sure you get your food and drinks! I love sitting at the bar when I go. You can watch them prepare your oysters which is pretty cool. The food has always been amazing- my favorite is their homemade clam chowder
OMG! Some of the BEST seafood we have ever had! And we live literally on the Pacific Ocean north of Seattle. The oysters were sublime, four choices, each one distinctly different. Ben & Sarah took tremendous care and ensured our evening was nothing short of beyond memorable! A night to remember for sure! A “dive bar” that rivals any FIVE STAR restaurant anywhere. OUTSTANDING!
Loved the food!! The handicapped parking was a bit of a joke. In the back of the restaurant with only gravel.
The food was excellent!!! As you can see from the photos...we kind of forgot to take photos until we were almost done! Oh...in one of the Oysters Rockefeller...we found a pearl!!
Great gluten free options, great service, didn't do alcohol this time, but the drink specials looked interesting, happy hour specials on food are priced well. Service was excellent, except we asked for more lemons for the fish and didn't get them, very minor issue, it won't keep me from going back.
I had never had the pleasure of eating here but for my first time experience it was amazing. I had the seafood taco it was soooo delicious. We had a party of 6. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It’s a small place so if you want a big party you may have to sit at different tables. The only thing that was disappointing is that they they ran out of burgers which 2 in my party wanted but they did order the fish baskets which they were highly satisfied. Great service, food was hot, no long wait times. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars only because they ran out of burgers.
16 years after they opened we finally got around to going. We are originally from New Orleans and my wife wanted oysters for her birthday. They did not disappoint. I had the lobster stuffed mushrooms (normally an appetizer) and a side dish of green bean risotto. The meal was excellent.
Cool spot! Good happy hour options. The gumbo had some good flavor. The jambalaya was okay but was a bit bland to my taste, but since everyone else's dishes looked really good, still well worth 4+ stars and good service.
Had been meaning to visit here and now I'm mad that I waited so long! Service was fantastic! Martinis with sea food is my favorite. We did peel and eat shrimp and the round about of oysters. We also did the seafood enchiladas and they were very tasty! Can't wait to be a regular because I'm going to be craving the jalapeno poppers and the key lime pie from now on :] I am certain that it was the best key lime pie I have ever eaten in my whole life, no joke.
We had a party of 6 on a Friday night during lent. We only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The waitress was friendly and did a great job! The food was delicious!! We ordered Maryland crab cakes and catfish fingers. The fish was moist, but not greasy and very flavorful, but not fishy! Would definitely recommend!!
