Excellent! It was a busy lunch crowd on a Friday yet the service and the food were both outstanding. Portions were large, the food came out quickly and beverages were refreshed regularly. The schnitzel was extra crispy with a sour cream dill sauce that added a nice lightness to what could be a heavy dish. The mashed potatoes and gravy were authentic and delicious. The breakfast burrito was large and loaded with meat. The hash browns were cooked perfectly being crispy and golden on the outside and tender and buttery on the inside, bullseye. It was hard to choose what to order due to so many things looking good. I’ll definitely be back soon to explore more of the menu.
This is THE best place to go for chicken fried chicken. You’re going to get two meals out of it. Two meals of all the happiness and love that you ever wanted for your whole life. Your mouth will be ecstatic.
The food was good. We enjoyed breakfast and there was a wait but they were very organized and swift. Our waitress was a little frazzled but still polite. They forgot waters and coffee refills. Overall food was above average. Eggs Benedict was not the best I've ever had but chicken and waffles was very good!

We stopped here for breakfast on our way out of town. The food was good and the prices even better. Our two kids shared a meal and it was more than enough for them. The biscuits are homemade and perfect. The omelets were a good size and had fresh ingredients (cut tomatoes, not from a can) and delicious. Staff were all extremely friendly and very attentive to the customers. It appears to be popular with the locals.

Tasty and Inexpensive. Its got that old school diner feel to it. Food comes out quick and great portion sizes and a small bill at the end. Service is great too, Really no complaints or even recommendations as this place should and can be able to hold its own for many years to come if they keep up what they are doing now. I would recommend this place to anyone and have already sent a few people their way.
Country style goodness. This restaurant is small with a great vibe of the years past. The food is American style, so expect meat and potatoes in one form or another. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and i was not disappointed. This is my comfort food to the max! We had a great server but I saw and heard a few duds on the staff. Our server was a younger girl with piercings and colored hair.
Shirley's diner is one of the great 50"s breakfast places in Omaha to eat! they have great food and GREAT service! i just want to say to people who come out here and complain,about nothing at all,stay out of restaurants!! If you have FOOD ALLERGIES,don't go out to eat and stop blaming business owners for your illness's. If you are that picky about food then stay home and cook!

Yummy Comfort Food!. Recently ate at Shirley's Diner in Millard and were very pleased with our meal! Hubby had the chicken fried steak and I had a hot beef sandwich because I was jonesing for some comfort food. It was good, nothing spectacular, but exactly what I was looking for! Traditional, unglammed comfort on a fork! The service was excellent! Will definately go again and prob take the kids since there is so much history crammed into the decor and very interesting reading material (at least on the booth table we were seated at).
Great place for lunch and even better for breakfast. I love the spanish omelet - very tasty. My wife loves the country style hash browns - come with an apatite cause you will have a very big plate.
Very good diner. We went because someone from church said it was good. I will always trust their reviews now. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich. The chicken fried steak was so large that it was my 7th bite before I hit the bun. The meat was moist and the coating was nice and crispy. My fries were nothing to write home about. My wifes pork tenderloin sandwich was also very good. She decided to pay the extre $1.25 to get onion rings instead of fries. It was a very wise decision.I have never before seen such large onion rings. They were very large cuts of sweet onion with a crispy coating on them. They were delicious. Even though it was very crowded we were seated in about 5 minutes. After our order was taken the food came in about 15 minutes. Service was very good. The place is decorated like a 50's diner on the inside. Our booth was the Marilyn Monroe booth. Each one has its own theme. We will definately be goinng back to try some more items on the menu.

Simply done well. After a couple of visits to Shirley's, I can see why this diner gets so many positive votes. Simple food done really well with great value for the price.
The menu is classic diner meets country cafe. You will see hot beef sandwiches, chicken fried steak, burgers, sandwiches, and a full page of breakfast items.
Its a small cozy place that seats maybe 40-50 people decorated with 50s memorabilia, checkered tile floors and wood paneled walls. It's comfortable.
The menu items I've tried so far have been excellent. Most recently I was impressed with the chicken fried steak sandwich "atomic" style. A crisp steak that was twice the size of the oversize bun, dipped in hot sauce and served with lettuce and tomato. With the plate of fries, I couldn't finish it though I gave it a good run.
I couldn't have asked for better service. I had two different waitresses check on me throughout my 30 minute lunch. I enjoyed it so much I bought a gift card for some friends who I know will love the chicken fried steak.
I use to go here when I was younger with my mom and grandparents. I loved this place the food was great and the atmosphere is neat to. In Millard stop by. I have not been here in awhile but would love to go back.

Cute Mom and Pop Place. This little whole in the wall next to the Millard Ballroom and Lord of Hosts is a great little place to go to get some real old time home cooking! The decor is fifties style with each booth having their own theme. My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak that we'd heard so much about and it was very good! They had run out of the milk gravy so he requested the brown gravy instead, but the breading on the steak was very crisp and good! I had the hot turkey sandwich. It was good. We will visit them again.
Awesome!!. I went to Shirley's Diner for lunch today, it was such an awesome experience! I had the chicken noodle soup (yum) and a hamburger and french fries (also yum).
The owner was super energetic and had a great vibe.
The only thing that wasn't energetic or personable was my server. She had the personality of a plank of wood (sorry)........

Best chicken fried steak around. I love this place. The only problem is that the chicken fried steak is TOO good. Every time I go there I always tell myself that I am going to try something different from the menu. I never do. Despite my intentions, the chicken fried steak always calls to me. And like a long-lost sailor hearing the song of the sirens, I can not resist.
But I will try something new next time.

I have had several recommendations for Shirley's, and yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to give it a try. From the outside, the place is nothing to look at; just a door in a strip shopping center. Once through the atrium, it lights up, and you are surrounded by photos and memorabilia for various Hollywood stars. My table was a shrine to Marilyn Monroe, lots of nice photos of her. The house specialty is chicken fried steak. What else could I do? The CFS was fork tender throughout, clearly hand breaded. The meat was a little thin, and was not jus bursting with flavor, but it was pretty good. The gravy was excellent, with pieces of sausage. The meal came with nice cut green beans, and very good mashers (nothing dehydrated there). The iced tea was good and kept refilled, and service was excellent. My check was $12.37, and I would gladly go to Shirley's again.
Kick started hubby's birthday weekend off trying a new place and ended up at Shirley's. Watched a lot of delicious looking food come from the kitchen to the diners while waiting for a seat. We were so excited that when we finally for our food, it was as good as it all looked. Our server was not very friendly and was very impatient coming over several times in the first couple of minutes... even after explaining, we have never been there before.
Stopped here with the family on our way out to Denver. This will definitely become our go to stop anytime we are traveling through Omaha. There were too many amazing looking things on the menu, so I just got the special which was hot roast beef, dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans. It was very very delicious. My wife loved the chicken tenders and my daughter slammed a pancake. Thanks to all at Shirley’s Diner for making us feel at home. Big shout out to our server Tammy, hope to see you on our way back.
I had no idea this place even existed until we were in Millard one day and looking for Breakfast/Brunch. We searched nearby places and found Shirley's Diner.
Right when we walked in, it was such a warm and welcoming energy. The place was packed with families, couples, and friends. We were seated pretty quickly!
I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was absolutely delicious! I love when chicken and waffles are a combo of spicy and sweet. I highly recommend trying!
If you're ever in Millard or looking for a new Breakfast place to try out in the Omaha area, you have to check this spot out!

The hot Turkey with mashed potatoes was decent, but the sweet gravy wasn't my favorite.
Overall, I'd be open to going back and trying some new items on the menu.
Took my wife here today for a date and I can say it was well worth it. I ordered the Western omelette and my wife ordered the chicken & waffles. Everything was good, cooked very well, portions were good size. The environment/atmosphere was very nice and laid back. Our waitress was pleasant and very kind. She made sure we were very well taken care of. I would definitely go again and recommend.
First time here. Great varied menu that had something for all in our group. The Poutine was great, and a surprise that it was on the menu. The chicken fried steak was a large portion and the gravy was tasty. The burgers are big and we're not dry. The onion rings were huge. Our server was friendly and attentive, but the food coming out was a little slow. Overall a good visit.
It is hard to find quality home style cooking that is a good value! This is my go to place when I'm visiting my father in Omaha. Our entrees featured generous portions that were hot and fresh. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We enjoyed a leisurely evening meal without being hurried.

It's my favorite place for comfort food when I'm having a bad day. The staff are so kind and the food is so so so so so delicious! THEIR MEATLOAF IS 🔥🔥🔥🔥 but get in early or you're gonna be real sad if you miss it. Good enough to start a war over. Would I fight someone's grandpa for the last piece? Probably, yeah, even my own if I had to.

Had the Country Gravy Hashbrowns which was a unique menu item and very good.
They do a very good job of turning tables for new customers. I really appreciated that they don't crowd their tables together so you actually have room to manuever around your table. Food was very good. They substituted a waffle for the kids' pancake, and it was huge. Maybe a hint of vanilla in the pancakes that elevates them to another level. I do like my hashbrowns a little more crispy but will make that request next time. Service was quick and attentive. The decor was unexpected but perfect. The kid's corner is a great touch!

I went into this restaurant this morning with the intent of a quick but delicious Diner breakfast experience and food. Well, in short, they knocked it out of the park. I got there and I was greeted and sat immediately. I was hoping to do some work while I ate but I realized my laptop had died, so I asked if I could be moved to where there was a power outlet. After double checking with the manager there was no problem moving me, and they brought me coffee and took my order right away. The food came out very quickly. The order was made up just as I had asked, which was the #1 on the menu. The hash browns were a perfect combination of crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. The atmosphere was cozy and clean. The waitress was very attentive and all of the workers seemed to be in good spirits. For breakfast, it was exactly how I had envisioned.

I had the eggs Benedict, and they were fantastic. You can definitely tell all their food is made fresh and from scratch.
If y’all are looking for super healthy meals or big chain service, this is not the place for you. It’s a mom and pop diner with down home cooking. Their chicken fried chicken is my favorite. My only complaint is that they switched from fresh green beans to canned ones, which aren’t nearly as good.
Mostly everyone is great that works and eats here. But, this restaurant is a magnet for rude and unreasonable customers. People who take up tables for hours. People who order items made perfectly but not the way they had imagined in their minds so they cause a scene and try to get other food or free food. People who have no idea how to be patient and respectful. People who try and reinvent the menu to their liking. People who were just looking to be rude to someone that day. People who do disgusting things at the table and in the restrooms. And people who like to make the servers cry for fun. If you find a server to be somewhat cold or standoffish, give them a smile and be nice. They go through heck everyday. They'll open up if they think you are not going to give them a hard time for no reason.
When all you want is some good down home comfort food, there’s no place else to go besides Shirley’s. We love most of the items on their menu and the chicken fried chicken dinner is just like mom’s ❤️👍🏻
