What a Midwestern treat to find a restaurant that respects food by using locally sourced faires and mixes both traditional and modern techniques. We had the pork shank, beet risotto, swedish meatballs, shrimp toast, crispy octopus, and grilled oysters. That shrimp toast, do not miss it, it will surprise you in how simple it appears and explodes with flavor in every bite! I've never had octopus prepared this way and not sure I can go back to rubbery, breaded, circles ever again. Grilled oysters so soft and sit in a broth that makes you wish it we're a bowl of soup.
The ambiance is clean, intimate and comfortable with it's industrial modern farmhouse feel. The entire staff seemed comfortable and enjoying their job, with an especially knowledgeable waitress guiding us through the shared plate menu.
Omaha has a unique gem with Stirnella. We will come back for another exploration of this eclectic menu and another slice at that butter cake.
Visiting from out of town 2 hours, the food was amazing and so was the wine. We had a wonderful server, however a gentleman who was well known by staff at bar ( they continued to serve him) was highly intoxicated, hanging on my spouse, verbally inappropriate and staff just kept walking by telling the guy to quiet down by name. My husband finally requested management who did not come in timely manner and so 4 customers left. Great food but bad atmosphere.
1/13/18 We returned for our 2nd visit with family from out of town. We had a amazing server and co-server we had the deviled eggs, shrimp toast, and oysters for appetizers followed by crispy octopus, pot roast, and duck special. Several drinks and a great atmosphere! We will definitely return and appreciate the encouragement for a second round as the atmosphere was friendly!
I think at this point, Stirnella might be the best restaurant in Omaha! Our meal was incredible with four of us splitting 6-7 different dishes..the Burrata with squash and apples was a dish to dream about! Our waiter was Aaron and he was so knowledgeable..he brought out the different dishes at various times so they wouldn't interfere with all the different tastes..we can't wait to go back!!!
We came here for our anniversary dinner. We decided on the deviled eggs, johnny cakes and the tagliatelle. We had tried to order the bone marrow, but they were out. The deviled cakes were really good. The johnny cakes were good, but the tagliatelle blew everything else out of the water. The tagliatelle had just the right amount of spice.
We were seated out on the patio area. The weather was perfect for patio seating. We decided on the creme brulee which was really good.
We're planning on coming back and trying more things from the menu.

Had a very pleasant evening at the restaurant. The atmosphere was subdued and relaxed, making for a comfortable dining experience. Service was excellent and prompt, even though the restaurant was busy. The food was good but a bit pricier than I had anticipated. The portions didn't quite match up to the cost, but the quality of the food made up for it. That said, the oysters were not only exquisite but were the one thing that did seem like it was a plentiful amount!
My main disappointment was with the seating arrangement. For the price, I expected a more relaxed area, but the only options were high-top tables, more suitable for a bar than a fancy restaurant.
Wonderful restaurant with a menu full of unique and flavorful options. The Burrata appetizer was perfect. The Ricotta Gnocchi was amazing. The drinks had a fun twist and were made well. Definitely worth the stop.
Very nice and welcoming atmosphere, we sat in the outer covered front patio. Service was good and the food was good! We all finished our food and we pleased. We shared all 3 appetizers for Sunday Brunch: donut holes, burrata, and deviled eggs. I got the Brunch Smash Burger. My only draw back was that the burger patties were too thick for a smash burger BUT it was still pretty good.
Great menu, nice atmosphere, I hosted a very nice business lunch here for a bunch of foodies and we all enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. Highly recommended.
Initial visit
Risotto 5 🌟 everything about this dish was perfect
Grilled cheese 4 🌟 it would have been a 5 had it come out hot.
Avocado toast. For me this was 4 🌟 though my dining companion claims it's the best one she's ever had.
Service was polite but not exceptionally friendly. We had a few issues. Quality check came in pretty late.
I love their sister restaurant so I'm hoping that this was just a one time fluke and if I returned it would be improved on.
This is located in the Blackstone district so parking can be difficult. If you take a photo of your parking receipt from visitor lot on 38th and Farnham they will take $5 off as long as your meal was over $25 and it's a same day ticket.
Food was all excellent I just think there are opportunities to enhance the drink program here. Burrata comes with amazing moist bread, beet salad was outstanding, popcorn chicken was good, pork chop was fantastic. Nice place to switch it up at
My first timer here. A cool atmosphere and good food. The drink menu variety is good enough but not great. The popcorn chicken with Bleu cheese was great. The french dip was fantastic as well. I'll be back for me!
Good with the potential to be Great!
Food - outstanding! Hot, tasty, consistent, pretty.
Drinks - They were okay. Great concept going, but needs refinement & to be consistent.
Service - lacking. Our server was busy, but she rushed us a bit much and she knew nothing at all about the menu. Could tell us what was popular, but could not really describe anything or give us feedback on what she liked.
Bottom line, loved this place, as I understood it, they just rolled out a new menu, so learning it and trying the food takes time. I would for sure visit again!
I had come down here to try out Early Bird but there was a 1.5 hour wait. This place, was right next door and serving brunch on Sunday and I was able to get a spot at the bar. Very good coffee and a phenomenal eggs Benedict. The spinach adds an interesting flavor and they do a Dijon hollandaise. The breakfast potatoes were fried in a breading, unique, and most excellent. They had quite a few things that looked interesting on the menu.
We had a fantastic dinner while visiting Omaha for our anniversary! I had the chicken and dumplings and my husband, the pork shank. Both dishes were unique and absolutely delicious; it was everything we wanted from a dinner on our trip! The only downfall was that we had to sit in the front room, which was right by the front door and awfully chilly.
My partner and I have been here several times and this is now our favorite place in Omaha. We love sharing the smaller plates from their local-sourced menu, which changes each season. Our favorite dishes are the shrimp toast, spätzle with oxtail, and brussel sprouts. Delicious and strong cocktails, and lots of local beer options. Love that kids are still welcome here, and that they have happy hour every day, including the weekend from 2-6 PM. Service matches the food, it's been wonderful every visit.
It had a most enchanting evening at Stirnella. The food is exquisite as you can tell by my photos. I would highly recommend The octopus and the risotto entrees shown in these photos! The waitress was kind and caring. The art decor was quite interesting with a modern contemporary theme. The restaurant itself was spacious and uncluttered.
Stirnella has a fun atmosphere inside and out with unique dishes. Our favorite every time is the Brussels sprouts which are in the appetizer section of the menu. I had the pulled pork sandwich this time and wasn’t a fan of the bread but the filling was good.
My first time there last night and it did not disappoint! Everything had so much flavor and was absolutely fresh. I will be going back for sure!
Fantastic food. One of the best farm to table restaurants I’ve been to. Pork shank was mouth watering. The food takes a little longer than normal, but everything is made to order and more than north the wait!
Great restaurant in Blackstone District. The burger is delicious with fries or salad. The atmosphere is casual upscale and has a very comfortable setting. Also the cocktails are very generous and reasonably priced.
Stopped in for lunch today with my little brother, it was worth the drive from Elkhorn. We had grilled oysters and chicken sandwiches. The oysters were good, but the chicken sandwich was so good, I think I ate the picture I took of it too!
