I can’t find enough words to describe how amazing our dinner was! Hubby and I are super picky about our BBQ and have been looking for a replacement restaurant since Amarillo’s closed down in Bellevue, in 2010. And now we’ve found it!!! Tonight we had brisket and ribs, they were out of the pulled pork, and they were both incredible!! Side we got were fries, creamed corn and Mac n cheese. Fries were ok, mac n cheese was good. The creamed corn, which was more of the corn casserole variety with a cream cheese base, was to die for!! Even if everything else had sucked, I’d have still gone back for the creamed corn alone. This is definitely our new go to for BBQ.
Very good food. The Texas tumbleweeds they served up beforehand were enough to almost make me order a full order but I decided to try a few other things. The brisket was excellent with just the right amount if tender and bark. The ribs are among some of the best I have had. The meat came clean from the bone and the flavor was excellent even without sauce. About the only thing I would like to see any different would be one or two more sauce offerings, otherwise spot on from food to service to presentation to price point. Excellent!
First things first. These people run out of things like brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. In fact, the first time I tried to eat here, they were out of brisket, pullet pork, and ribs.
The second time I was here, they were out of brisket, pulled pork, and mac and cheese. Only the ribs remained.
The hostess seemed to think that running out of food was no big deal, and to be expected. The waitress explained that they had had several large parties, and advised us to call ahead next time. Both stressed that everything was made fresh, but running out of food seems strange.
I had the ribs - dry rubbed, juicy, fall off-the-bone tender, smoked to a very dark bark. The two sauces, vinegar-based in the clear bottle and spicy in the red bottle, were tasty and nicely balanced, but unnecessary. The ribs' flavor stood on its own.
Classic coleslaw was coarsely chopped, creamy, flavorful.
The creamed corn was outstanding! Very flavorful, and not at all like the canned variety. Prominent cream taste, I'll get this the nest time.
One curious thing were the complementary Texas Tumbleweeds. (At least, that's what I thought they were.) Looking something like a hushpuppy from LJS, these tasty morsels were shredded potato-based with bacon. I need to try these again.
Went for lunch today. I do not care for ribs but I do now...Frank was in heaven but a hot mess when he eats meat filled ribs. My brisket melted in my mouth....great idea that were given the option of dressing on the coleslaw. Will be back soon on Saturday for burnt ends....you have to try this place
I don't ever write reviews. But the food here was simply amazing. I was raised in Texas so the name peaked my interest. I'd been looking for a great BBQ place to eat here and until now it wasnt possible. I had the Brisket Sandwich, Potato Salad and Baked Beans. I had also ordered the Banana Pudding but was only able to get a few bites. My Hubby literally didn't want to share. There's a saying in the South, Slap yo Mama Good and this was. We were greeted right away and staff was friendly. We had a great time joking with our waitress. I can't recommend this place enough! I've been craving those Baked Beans for week now! I'll see y'all soon!!!
Hands down the best BBQ in Omaha. Perfect seasoning on the ribs and brisket mean you don’t even need sauce! The sides are generous and taste great...they sucker you in with a free tumbleweed when you’re seated. If you’re meeting friends, don’t be late so they don’t have a chance to snag yours! Even the desserts are top notch. Treat yourself to the caramel pie at least once!
Finally had a chance to stop by and have some brisket. Well worth going out in the frigid temps for it. The sandwich was so tender and seasoned perfectly. Had some fries and slaw as my sides. Both were excellent and was sorry I got full so fast and couldn't finish it all. Will be back to try the pulled pork next time. Our waitress was great and checked in on us just the right amount. We stopped for a "late lunch" around 3 and had the place to ourselves! Also loved the decor and cool light fixtures!
Best BBQ ever!!! Brisket and ribs were melt in your mouth tender served by the friendliest ever waiter. It is a must-go-to restaurant in Omaha.
We've eaten barbecue from Texas to Montana and this ranks up at the top. Fantastic flavor and outstanding wait staff. We'll be back when we're in Omaha.
Give the Tired Texan in Omaha a try, not a huge menu but what they have they do extremely well. The brisket is some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant. The Outlaw corn is a great side and the Texas Tumble weeds you gotta have. Service was excellent
Best food ever! Meat was so tender, corn was delicious and fresh, potato salad was great and the corn bread was to die for! Service was spot on and above! Definitely on my list to return soon!
Super good. Nice new place. Lots of seating. Great brisket and ribs. Sides are decent. Love visiting the TT. Location is "funny" in that you have to enter via "M" Street - which is easy to do if you are South-bound on 108th, but if you are North-bound on 108th you have to zig zag around a little bit (turn left onto John Galt Blvd). Now, if they only served hot coffee, it would be perfect!
Our group of six came here for the first time today, and we all LOVED it! The decor was nice, the staff friendly and helpful, and the food was outstanding. A real hidden gem, our only regret is not trying it sooner. We will definitely be coming back regularly, can't recommend it enough!
The meat was so tender I couldn’t believe how perfect it was. Husband had beef brisket and I had pulled pork. Both were out of this world good. The Mac n cheese good but a little bland but I go to bbq for the meat anyway.
First time and this is a hidden gem. Make sure you eat here asap as they have the best Brisket I’ve ever had in my life! OMG Wait till they give you a sample of the FAMOUS appetizer for free when you sit down. We will be back over and over!!!!
Initial review....
One of the nice things about coming here is the free Texas tumbleweed that they bring to your table when you arrive. There were 3 at the table. I was told this was a normal case that they bring this out. I'm unsure if it's one per person. My only criticism is if it is 1 per person they should bring it out when the other two guests arrive as at the time we were not there so it was getting cold.
Navajo fry bread sliders 5 stars
Chicken sandwich 4 stars
The brisket sammich 5 stars
Rib and 2 meat (brisket and pulled pork) 4.5 stars
Outlaw creamed corn 4.5 stars
Peach mango tea 5 stars
Coleslaw 4 stars
Fries 3.75 stars
I'm told the sides are the stars of the show here. We were warned about the fries. They used to make them in house but changed to a more streamlined version. The coleslaw was good but I think I might have preferred the poppy seed. I plan to try that next time if I get a chance
The peach mango tea stood out. It's got flavor but no sugar. This might not be good for others but for me it was fantastic.
There seems to be a bit of confusion about the amount of meat that comes on the platter. I checked the reviews and a response was that it is 3 oz, but the server did say it was 4 oz.
Service was a mix.
We had an order (I noticed they do sell them in orders of 6) of tumbleweeds dropped off at our table by a different server. We informed them we did not order them. The person said they were told it was for this table. The server came by and we hold our server. The server took it back.
When he was there he was very friendly and personable. At times it was absent, but maybe their patrons prefer to be left alone in general? I did have to ask for a refill by going to the counter once, but after that time he checked up much more.
I do want to return and see if they are consistent.
This place hit the spot. Ribs were tender and fell off the bone. I dig the spicy bbq sauce. Creamy corn, Mac and cheese are legit.
If your barbe down the street ran out, give Tired Texan a try.
This place was great! I had the brisket (points), pulled pork and ribs combo plate with fries. The ribs and brisket were incredible! The ribs had a great rub and were perfectly smoked. They were so tender they just fell off the bone when you bit them. The brisket was flavorful, and so tender you could cut it with a fork. I was amazed. The cornbread was the best I've ever had, and they served a delicious local honey with it. The fries were delicious, seasoned just right and perfectly cooked. I had the honey lemonade and it was a touch sweet but still good. The hot BBQ sauce actually had a spicy little kick to it, and it tastes great. I finished off my meal with a slice of their caramel pie, which was like heaven on a plate! The service was very prompt and friendly, and the place was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. There are only 3 BBQ joints that I would recommend and this place is one of them. They serve Coke products, which is unfortunate.
1/2 pound of brisket 10$ had a rich beef flavor and a tender texture.
Light and airy coleslaw
Corn bread is a house recipe I can’t get enough of!
French fries were ok, husband liked them and at 2.99 for a good amount.
Texas Tumbleweeds which are
Deep fried potato, bacon and cheddar cheese
Omg really an amazing flavor of love!
Regular BBQ sauce was tangy spice that wasn’t necessarily my favorite but I believe a flavor of a Sauce is up to you!
Excited to try other meats at this establishment
We have been there twice now and they have the best BBQ I had in Omaha. A little more pricy because its à la carte but definitely worth it. They do have items that are more affordable. You can get a side and a sandwich for around $10 without a drink. The brisket is one of the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Ribs are very delicious too. I have not had the pulled pork yet. Very nice and clean on the inside. Chatted with the owner for a bit and she was very nice. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone in search of BBQ.

I'll preface all of this with the following: Do not eat a heavy breakfast before visiting TTB as you will kick yourself if you're not able to finish your meal.
The thing about TTB that stands out among two other alleged BBQ places in the area is the authenticity. Famous Dave's slathers their sub-par fare in sauce (the BBQ equivalent of dousing a well-done steak in ketchup) while Hog Wild tries to come off as down home. However, their dry meats require as much sauce as you can spray onto them in order to be edible.
Instead of making everything at one point in the week and warming it up as they go, TTB cooks everything fresh daily and when it's gone, it's gone. That might be concerning to some, but realize that any legit place for 'Q will be like this.
The atmosphere is cozy with plenty of room at the bar and enough TVs to catch the game or keep the little ones occupied. TTB is kept extremely clean both in and out of the kitchen. Yes, I did see it in its entirety thanks to owner Chip who gave me the grand tour.
So, nice place, right? "But wait! How's the food?!" You've got some attitude, buddy. The good news is your patience is well-rewarded at TTB. The first thing I was served up was their now-famous Texas Tumbleweeds. A hushpuppy variant, these lovely little balls of potato, cheese and bacon are a great way to start your meal.
I was in luck as today, they were featuring their burnt ends which isn't always the case. Be sure to call early if you want in on those because they go FAST. However, the friendly staff will happily keep your food nice and hot for when you stop in.
I opted for a platter that came with ribs, brisket, a side (I chose the baked mac and cheese because...I mean come on, it's baked mac and cheese) and my drink with an a la carte order of burnt ends. Seriously, folks, this stuff is fall-off-the-bone tender and the burnt ends are honest to goodness the best I've ever tasted. I've been to Kansas City, I've been to St. Louis and they were put to shame by Omaha's own.
IF your appetite survives past this point, the Hershey's pie is a perfect rich, creamy capper to your evening. Be sure to say hello to Chip and the gang as they happily take a moment to interact and chat it up with everyone. Great food served by great people. TTB is a new Omaha staple.
Tried tired Texan BBQ for the first time today. My friends had recommended it to me. Ordered the two meat combo with pulled pork and brisket. Both needs were incredibly good but by far the brisket was my favorite. Amazing flavor and very tender. Beans were also excellent and very spicy which I liked. While the food was excellent the one major complaint that I had was the portion size. For the money it was very small and felt more like a sample dish more than a meal. I wouldn't hesitate to go back but I would definitely order the meat by weight instead so I had enough to make an actual meal. The server was friendly and very nice. All in all, I will definitely go back and definitely one of the better barbecue places in Omaha that I have tried.
Always have enjoyed great bbq, this is exactly that great food run by great people. Got just about the whole menu, brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Everything was great the ribs were a standout close to fall off the bone but with a nice chew still. Brisket, wow great brisket done very well with a nice bark went great with the fries.
This is some of the BEST BBQ I’ve ever had!!
Can’t say enough about it!
Normally when I see a restaurant attached to a chain motel, I keep on driving, but this is a spot you should NOT pass up!
Best place to eat BBQ!! Hands down smoked to perfection meats. I had the 3 meat combo dinner which consist of 3 ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. I was amazed how good it tasted. Fall of the bone ribs. I've lived in Omaha for over 25 years and it was the best BBQ experience I've had in Omaha! Tired Texan lives up to it's name with Texas being in it, cause all of the food is like home to me being as I grew up in Texas. I highly recommend this place. Awesome food, service was great!!
