This is a really great option for breakfast food. The prices are very reasonable and probably a bit better considering the amount of food you can get for the money.
The service was friendly and efficient. The staff moves with purpose. There isn't typically a long wait time.
As much as I'd day the food is great, I probably wouldn't get it delivered. I don't think it would be the same.
They nailed the hometown diner feel.
1st time, Highly recommend, food was absolutely perfectly cooked, taste was delicious, coffee great, presentation like a king and queen, technique of serving awesome (coffee server only, helpers) allows waitresses to focus on serving. Nicely price family friendly.
I will be back. Go ahead indulge and try this place, you will not be disappointed.
We had been to Vidlak's once before but will be back for sure. The bestfast was on fire, and the server was even better. Even with being packed with people waiting for tables, our sever didn't miss a beat, and our drinks never were empty. A must try if you are thinking about going.

Looking for down home "comfort" food, with affordable pricing? Bring your family and friends to Vidlak's Brookside Cafe. This is my go to breakfast place for meeting family and friends.
Come early for breakfast or arrive later for lunch but don't hesitate because they are only open till 2:00. No reservations are needed and when there is a crowd, the wait is usually short (10-15 minutes).
Servers are amazing and greet you with a cup of coffee and a glass of water within a minute after you are seated. Your order is always correct and the food comes out hot and guick after you order.
I've had the cinnamon roll that covers your dinner plate with delightful pastry slathered with warm frosting.
The cinnamon french toast is awesome as well. I've had the brookside muffin which is a slice of ham, scrambled eggs with cheese on a toasted english muffin. But my new favorite is the breakfast BLT sandwich with a hard fried egg on toasted marble rye bread with a side of hash browns that are crunchy on the outside and cooked perfectly on the inside.
Check them out, you won't be disappointed.
Update: for the first time ever, our food wasn't great. The hash browns were barely cooked and very greasy, the bread of the Philly was stale and the cheese and flavor were lacking. Hopefully it's just an off day because Vidlak's has become a family favorite over the years!
Update: everything is still just as great as always! This time I tried the Eggstacy minus the bacon and it was pretty amazing. Eggs, cheese, lettuce tomato and mayo on marbled rye toast.
Always excellent service and amazing comfort food! We eat here every chance we get. I highly recommend the Garden Egg and Potato Casserole or the Chicken Philly Sandwich (add jalapenos)! The Cinnamon French Toast is like heaven on Earth with a hot cup of black coffee! To make it even better, they accept the Pinpoint app to earn free food. 😁
Very nice experience. Had the veggie scramble which came with hash browns and pancakes. Delicious and generous portions. My coffee cup was kept full which is important to me 🤣. The service was attentive and efficient. Highly recommend Vidlaks Cafe!
This is just good, solid, unpretentious Diner food. I have only been here for breakfast, but they also serve lunch. Everyone that works here has always been super friendly and the waitstaff is great. I have never had any issues with the food. It has always been prepared just as I ordered it. They're also in the PinPoint rewards program.

I had recently gone to three other restaurants for breakfast. Two of them brought me over easy eggs when I ordered the eggs over hard. The "hash browns" were like mashed potatoes that had been put briefly on a grill. The food was lukewarm. The breakfast burrito at another establishment was a disgrace.
This morning, I went to Vidlak's. The order of eggs over hard with sausage patties and hash browns was cooked to perfection and brought to my table in less than 5 minutes. The quality of the food and the preparation was outstanding. The food and coffee were hot. Service was fantastic. My breakfast at Vidlak's restored my faith in dining out and in humanity itself. I can't see going anywhere else for breakfast in Omaha...
With so many delicious choices of comfort food waiting for you it is always a worthwhile wait! Coffee and drinks are served promptly upon sitting down. Orders come out quickly. We had hot and fluffy blueberry pancakes, tender chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, moist sausage patties with eggs that were made-to-order, german hashbrown potatoes with scallions. Friendly servers, happy patrons.
A wonderful breakfast joint, just as it should be! Surprisingly, the inside is a lot bigger than it appears so there was zero wait time for a Saturday morning at 10:30am. The food was delicious! I only gave it a 4 because I wish the coffee had been a little better. The service was sweet and kind and the atmosphere was open and welcoming. Will be back for sure!

I have eaten here for many many years, usually once a week, but it’s been a while since my last visit.
Today was the day that I decided to meet a friend there for breakfast. I’m happy to say that nothing has changed. It’s still the same great food and staff.
The place was packed today as it usually is at 09:00 on any day. Angie was our server and of course remembered both of us, though it’s been over a year. She quickly took our order and had coffee and water to us right away. Side note; one of the great things here, is you can make any item on the menu custom to your liking. I love that about this place and the best part is, it’s consistently high quality and you get what you order. Always delicious and perfectly cooked.
So today I ordered the corned beef hash. Now I like mine crispy, which it was as ordered. I requested 3 eggs, lightly basted on top. They were perfectly cooked as you can see in the picture. I chose rye toast for my side, that was perfectly buttered and I added strawberry jam. Delicious! I also ordered a side of hash browns with sausage gravy on top. Again, delicious.
Of course they are excellent at keeping your coffee cup filled and checking to see if you need anything. All was as it should be,perfect!
There was even a group of 10 guy’s from Iowa ahead of us that were headed to the Nebraska vs Iowa football game in Lincoln. I heard someone ask them how they got to Vidlaks and one said they Googled best breakfast places in Omaha and Vidlaks came up. I welcomed them and told them they would not be disappointed.
If you have never dined here before, put it on your list. You too will not be disappointed. Oh, they also do lunch, but no dinner.
Very good experience. Short, 20 minute wait for 6 hungry people. Once in, it is nice as there is plenty of room for waitresses to wait and people to walk around inside. The space provides a nice separation of conversations from nearby tables. Food was breakfast food, and was cooked just as I would want. A platter with bacon and sausage delighted me, normally a pick between those two choices.
I heard about this cafe from an Omaha Food Lovers FB group and bookmarked it. My husband and I were in the area a few days ago and decided to try it for brunch. We arrived around 10 and were worried about seating due to the parking lot being rather full. We walked right in and were seated immediately. The cafe is large with a huge seating area which helps when spacing guests. Our server was super friendly and recommended an omelette for me. My husband enjoyed his steak and eggs, and I loved my Denver omelette. When we were checking out the hostess recommended me downloading an app (Pinpoint) to save on our next visit along with other stores/restaurants in the surrounding area. She also recommended their cinnamon rolls so I’ll definitely be back to try one.
Another excellent breakfast/brunch place in the area. The service here is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Very unfussy and simple interior. The food here is very excellent and they have a wide menu to choose from. The skillet casseroles here are some of the best around.
What a great down home cooking breakfast place. Usually a line, but worth it to have that country vibe, good hearty food and good prices. Come here every time I come home to visit my family - it is my brother Randy and my spot to meet up!!
Great food, huge portions, solid price. I ordered the steak eggs Benedict with the loaded hash browns and it was fantastic. The service was great too, they have an army of staff tending to everyone which helps a lot since it is so busy. We had a great breakfast and we will be back!
Absolutely outstanding food in its own right. On top of that this is one of the more wallet-friendly breakfast places I've been to. A must visit for sure! Whatever you do, don't miss out on the pancakes.
