Monarch was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment you walk in past the gorgeous bar and through the beautiful dining room, you know this place is something special. We went with some friends and felt very comfortable with a higher end dining experience that didn’t feel stuffy. We sampled about half of the menu and were all blown away by the quality of the food. What took our experience to the next level was the service of our server and the entire wait staff, including a sommelier. They coursed the menu for us, suggested cocktails and paired wine beautifully. The staff was quick to remove finished dishes without feeling like we were rushed. It was a beautifully orchestrated experience that we will for sure be back for, and is something we are excited to have in Omaha and will want to show off to out of town friends. This is a gem that you don’t want to miss out on.
Brunch was excellent. What makes this place the best place in Omaha to eat brunch is the food and how well seasoned it was. It was absolutely perfect. I recommend the hash dish. I left full and happy. I will be back!
OK, so that was a total gastronomic experience. The food you see on the foody shows...well it is being served right here is sweet old Omaha at the Monarch Prime (black pepper marshmallow foam on a potato leek soup for starters...OMG..) Interesting and unexpected combinations that surprise the palate and are a treat for the eyes. Not overly fussy wait staff or service, yet attentive and professional and the presentation of the dishes is so beautiful, and then to taste the fresh mouth watering food.....really, what a well rounded sensory experience. The room is soooo beautiful as well. Will take me a minute to get back to earth from this meal experience.
Great service memorable meal! The kale salad and French onion cream served with baguette was more of an appetizer. The filet was the best beef I’ve ever eaten. The red potatoes and asparagus completed the meal we ordered.
Carrot cake is not an ordinary dessert. The chef really put a twist on it!
Loved the atmosphere first and foremost. The lobby bar had great energy and tasty cocktails. I dined with vegetarians and found those options to be delicious and some of the best items on the menu especially the gnudi. I highly recommend goat cheesecake for dessert.
Ask for Melissa. She’s knowledgeable and wonderful about recommendations. I had the pork shoulder and it melted in my mouth. Divine. Wonderful atmosphere, fun, upbeat music and locally sourced food prepared by excellent chefs. All in all, a wonderful, semi-hidden restaurant. Look for Hotel Deco - it’s connected!
Come early, hang out in the bar, question the cocktails and receive detailed answers, sit down and try salads like you have never seen or tasted, and don’t skip out on the aged steak. My only advice is take your time and enjoy the entire experience.
Hotel Deco - Omaha, NE Monarch Restaurant
Quiet, romantic place within Hotel Deco. Went to brunch - with 30 mins to go, the place was empty until a large party arrived.
Excellent service!
Amazing, chef-inspired food full of flavor.
Coffee, delicious.
No reservations required.
Highly recommend.
Will return for brunch, try other items and the dinner menu.
Price: $12-15 per meal.
We had a wonderful experience after the opera this last Sunday. I was a huge fan of this place before the pandemic and since then it changed head chefs. I have been hesitant to return. It was slow for a Sunday, but there are not a whole lot of places open at that time downtown.
Truthfully, I was pleasantly surprised. They had a great wine selection which is always key, and they brought us a better vintage than what was on the menu, so we were off to a good start. I got the charcuterie, the short rib and the poached pear dessert. All were well integrated dishes. Wished for a bit more options, may be a special, but I appreciate that what they did have they made well and with great technique and attention to ingredients.
I really don’t like it when we have to choose our sides, so often that feels like an afterthought, so in a town of steakhouses this place does a good job at presenting thoughtful dishes.
We were taking in a show at the Orpheum and the Monarch was right across the street. Making a reservation online was no problem, and we got a good parking spot in the street around the corner.
The lighting was low and comfortable. The mood was quiet and upscale. The menu was good, albeit a bit pricey as dinner for two with splitting an entree was $120 before tip.
Our server was friendly and engaged us in dialog, but the food was somewhat slow to come out and although I would say the food quality was high, the portions seemed very small. This seems to be the norm when eating downtown in the Big O these days.
Really great place. Romantic atmosphere good for business dinner as well. Beautiful bar at entrance. Tables were wobbly and squeaky but food and wine great. High quality ingredients and impressive preparation and presentation. Highly recommended.
Ate dinner with my daughter…really great! I had salmon and she had steak, both were awesome. Crème brûlée was excellent. Great atmosphere as well.
This is a fun place! Lots of stuff to see and the people watching is excellent. We shared the wyobi steak tartar...this was a first for me, but we heard they have the best in the area, "can't go wrong", so we tried it. It was excellent! The bar tender did an amazing job too...professional at every level. Highly recommended!!!
Wow. I was pleasantly surprised with such a great experience at this restaurant. My husband and I went here with our friends for NYE dinner and it was a fixed holiday menu. Even though I would consider this dinner slightly overpriced, it was still a 5 star experience for me. The champagne was so smooth and amazing, the steak I had was cooked to perfection with the most incredible sauce and the rest of the dinner/dessert experience was amazing. My water glass was always full and the server left us alone enough to enjoy the night. I would definitely recommend trying Monarch out if you haven't before. Just know, this is a fancy dinner ($$$) not a casual night!
The food was delicious. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was tender and well seasoned. The desserts were amazing and prefect for sharing (or not sharing too). The service was quick and very friendly. I will definitely be back.
Passing through Omaha and happened upon this restaurant that was close to our hotel. The food was absolutely amazing! The wait staff was polite and friendly and gave great wine recommendations. Very much enjoyed our visit!
Delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere, its a spot I plan to return to.
The restaurant is located in the downtown area, inside the hotel Deco.
This was my initial visit and I'm hoping that the food is consistent in the future, because if it is, it will be one of my favorite spots in Omaha.
As well, I do hope that the service is friendlier in the future. It was professional, but a bit cold which was a little uninviting (from our server). The hostess and everyone else was very warm however.
Blistered shisito peppers 5 stars
This is the best shisito dish I've had in Omaha so far. Often they are flavored with an Asian sauce, but the chef let's these peppers shine on their own.
Herb marinated Olives 5 stars
Remiscent of my visit to Chicago when I was staying on the Fairmont gold floor.
Wagyu steak and frites 5 star
The sauce was so good on this. The flavor was subtle but I couldn't get enough. It was exceptionally tender.
Pork shank 4.5 star
Technically it could be a 5 star, my best friend certainly thought so. The outside was a bit over cooked but the inside closer to the bone was perfect. It might be an issue with the size which is absolutely massive. If you're hungry I'd recommend this.
Lemon tart 4.5 stars
A bit too sweet for me, but still an excellent dessert. The crust is stiff like a cookie so it took a bit too break.
Creme brulee 5 star
One of the best versions I've had. The sugar on top was a bit thick, I would have preferred a thinner crust, but the perfect consistency of the custard won me over.
Parking is metered street parking but there is a parking lot. We paid $10 for the evening.
We did not inquire if there was other parking available (for example in the hotel)
I would give them 10 stars in could. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable! The bison tartare was inspired and delicious. The Wagyu Tomahawk Chop was the best steak I've ever had, and the potatoes and mushrooms really elevated the whole experience! Also, not as important, but a special kudos to the music selection in the background; it created a very relaxed, chill atmosphere that wasn't stuffy or pretentious.
BEST steak in the country! Bravo to the chef on everything because it was out of this world. Highly recommend getting the Bison appetizer as it is truly an experience of its own. The setting is so romantic & beautiful. We will be making the drive from Wichita, KS back to Omaha again soon just to eat at this place.
Great spot with food that impressed. While the menu for food and drinks is small, they got the nail on the head with every item. The options feel curated and perfected. The ambience cannot be topped in this restaurant and the staff was wonderful and friendly.
