Service was excellent, I had the fried chicken with Mac & cheese. I’m a serious picky eater but the seasoning and flaky crust on the chicken was so good that I couldn’t stop eating it, the Mac and cheese was served in a mini skillet 🍳 perfectly cooked. Paired it off with a draft beer 🍺 I will defiantly being going back again
Fantastic brisket sandwich and mac & cheese! The Burnt Ends are worth the drive alone.
Hubby and I had a wonderful meal here last night. I had the brisket and pulled pork. Brisket was the best I have had and the mac n cheese was very cheesy and not mushy at all. Perfect. The only thing I was unhappy with was the cornbread. However, that is just my preference, I like mine with more of a course cornmeal.
Our waitress was great. Atmosphere good. I had the ribs and brisket combo, excellent meat. Wasn’t a fan of the baked beans, otherwise awesome.
This one of my favorite places. The food is great, beer is great and the people are amazing. My family and I are regulars and I recommend it to people all the time. All my friends come in town to visit us and they all make Smoqued a part of their trip.
The service was A+++
The food was just as spectacular. I had the hangover burger with a side of macaroni and the deep fried pickles. Delicious!!
Kenna was the attentive lady serving us. The brisket is unlike any other BBQ's I've had. Moist, tender, tasty. Almost no need for any of the 3 nice sauces. Burnt ends were great, smoked bacon awesome. I'm no fan of muffins, but the corn muffins were very good, too. A 5, no doubt about it!
In my home town: Great atmosphere, friendly people, outstanding Food & Service, to top it all our server was great. Give it a shot, you’ll love it.
Stopped in to try some new places and areas and found this BBQ place. It's a small shop, so it was filling up fast. It has a nice simple feel and the services was great.
They have a lot of items to pick from: sandwiches, combo plates, salads, al la cart, etc. We tried the pick 2 and the pick 3 meat combo plates. We ordered the pulled pork, brisket, ribs, flat iron steak and some sides. The Flat Iron steak is $5 more option, but it was really tender and worth it. The ribs, I would probably pass on next time. Not bad, but I think the other meats are better.
Sides, lots of sides to pick from. We got for our two sides each; Seasoned Fries, Cornbread, candied bacon and mashed potatoes. The mashed is a pass for me, not bad but just better options. The Candied Bacon is however a must get for you and you get 3 strips. Mac n cheese looked amazing and so did the green beans, so next time I'll pick those.
As for drinks, only beer and wine, no hard liquor. Soda and water are your other options.
Overall it was pretty good. You have lots of options to pick from and it's pretty good price for where it is located. I only wish they had mixed drinks, that would have made it amazing.
It was a slow night so your experience may differ.
Service was good, food was very good and beer was also very good. Mixed drinks not so much so stick with the brews.
Sampled, brisket, ribs, chicken, Mac and cheese, deviled eggs, fried pickle and chili.
Though all were good the stand outs were the chili (not very hot, good flavor and lots of meat) and the ribs. Also a nod to the deviled eggs and burnt ends.
Portions were a little better than many bbq places but not great. (Not uncommon, but the only really disappointment, especially with the deviled eggs and pickles.)
Since we were a larger group and ordered a large sampling, it worked out.
Will definitely be back for an amber and chili, maybe with a side deviled eggs. (Also, if you order the chili, pour a good portion of the habanero sauce. Good flavor and not really that hot.
Stumbled across this place by accident. We were craving bbq and decided to go for a drive. After stopping by 2 places that were closed (it’s the Friday after Thanksgiving) we just happened to find this place. Best part….. it was happy hour!
We ordered 2 house beers, avocado fries and bbq fries. Everything was very tasty and SUPER hot!
The avocado fries were excellent, especially with the chipotle ranch they serve it with.
The bbq fries were to die for! And everything that we ordered was on the happy hour menu. $6 per item!
We will definitely go back here. Orange circle has so many places to shop and eat at but this place is a gem!
Heard about this from a friend and wanted to try this out.
We showed up and was seated with no issues. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating.
Not the best I’ve ever had but still worth a stop if you’re craving bbq.
Love this local spot! Feels welcoming and the wonderful aroma of smoked meats hits you as soon as you approach the area.
The staff is super friendly and the beer selection is pretty great.
The menu is varied enough to keep you coming back to check out other options to see if each one is going to be as delicious as the last!
Smoqued California BBQ in Orange, CA is a must-visit spot for anyone who loves delicious BBQ and great service. I recently had the pleasure of trying their burnt ends, and they were absolutely amazing! The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. But the real standout was the bartender Rachel B. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made our experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with exposed-brick walls and unique eats like avocado fries. I highly recommend Smoqued California BBQ to anyone looking for a great meal and a great time!
Food was great as always, but it felt like the server was overwhelmed by our large party. Missed a couple of drink orders. Never came back to ask about refills or another round. And randomly split the checks so I ended up paying for some of a friend's food.
Smoqued is one of the better restaurants in Orange County. The staff was friendly and welcoming and very professional.
I had the BBQ tri tips which were really good and the fries were awesome. The wings were delightful as well. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was because the drinks were a bland. I still, recommend that you check out Smoqued.
The Mac n Cheese was so delish! It was my favorite item. Their Rib Tips are tasty, and the chicken was moist.
Would definitely comes back!
Best bbq that we've found in California so far, our waitress was really sweet, in a cute area, a touch on the pricey side (but well worth in flavor), and would overall recommend.
Fire! Tried Smoqued for the first time and I was very impressed. Service was good, prices are good. I’ll definitely be coming back many times. I highly recommend doing a 4 meat combo. The Mac was good.
Amazing food. Good beer choices. Great service. BBQ Mac n cheese and fried chicken are my favorite. I kiss the chingaderas
Smoqued is awesome. The fatty brisket is the best and the Mac n cheese is top tier. It’s wonderful quality, not too expensive and all of the staff is absolutely wonderful. The girls run the show. I do feel bad for them though. They always seemed to be so understaffed. This can lead to burnout from the staff and honestly the patrons. It’s not fun to see the people you care about be poorly managed and run ragged. You’re amazing Smoqued Girls!! Keep up the great work!! To the owners, do better!!!!
They have the best Mac and cheese! The brisket is juicy and tender. My sister and I got the 1 meat plate with brisket and Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes plus one more brisket a la carte for $13. Worth it! We shared the sides. We came back for 2 nights in a row
Ambiance, service, food was all awesome. Grilled cheese- excellent. Fried Chicken- excellent- and even managed to make corn on the cob something to remember. Tacos- excellent. Shepherds Pie- very rich, very decadent. Be prepared when you order this one! Bread pudding dessert- off the charts! We would totally recommend and will definitely be back!
The ribs are amazing, plus the restaurant is very cute looking.
Food was decent, but not the best BBQ I've had. Hard to beat the south for that though. Waitress seemed friendly, however, she was very quick to walk away and didn't spend a second longer than minimally necessary to take our order. We wanted to ask her about a couple things but she bolted so quickly we had to just wait until she came back with our apps or meals or whatever. Kinda weird honestly. Guessing maybe because they were short staffed?? Not a ton of people in the restaurant at that time though.
Anyway, most of the meat was pretty tender with some much more firm and almost dry parts occasionally. Tater tots and Mac and cheese were pretty tasty. Also recommend the avocado fries.
Pretty good BBQ. I had the half rack of ribs and brisket with Mac n cheese and green beans. I also ordered the deviled eggs and cornbread.
The deviled eggs, Mac n cheese, ribs and onion rings on the green beans were very good.
The ribs fell off the bone and what cartilage there was had begun to jelly. The sauce for the ribs was good but I think generic. I actually liked them without the sauce.
Mac n cheese is one of my favorite comfort foods. There's is delicious. I don't know what its topped with but it was a great compliment to the macaroni. It was cheesy and creamy.
I love the shoe string onion rings on top of the green beans! They had a good chewiness to them and just enough onion flavor. They helped the brisket out.
The brisket was good, it didn't taste bad but I was really looking for that smoke ring and a little more flavor. It was a little bland. And I'm pretty sure the sauce is A1 or reduced Worcestershire Sauce. I think it would be good in a sandwich or on a salad. The brisket, not the sauce.
I had high hopes for the green beans. I love green beans. They were just underdone and I have a very very very mild allergy to some uncooked foods (carrots, green beans, bananas...). My mouth/tongue just gets a little itchy.
The cornbread was dry and way too crumbly.
I want to try the burnt ends and the crazy cornbread/Mac n cheese that might be a bbq pie. So I will be back.
