Amazing dining experience! From the minute we walked through the door until we closed our bill. The staff was absolutely amazing! The food was unforttable. Each dish was undeniably delicious, showcasing an edible work art. You must give Anepalco a visit. The experience will not disappoint you.
I'm an avid fan of Anepalco. I've been coming here ever since a friend of mine introduced me when the restaurant first opened a few years back.
The restaurant has a mixture of wooden picnic style and individual tables painted black. Anepalco is accented with a "rosa mexicano" color throughout the space. They have a full bar built in the same style, which is separated from the tables by shelves with books. Across from the bar is longer table for bigger parties that has a wall art drawing of two iconic Mexican personalities: comedian Cantinflas and singer Pedro Infante drinking together. The restaurant also has a outdoor patio section with metal tables that give you a relaxed atmosphere. The space is framed with simple white flowing curtains.
The food is the real deal here. If it's you're first visit, start by trying their main seller staple dish: chilaquiles. For those of you not familiar, chilaquiles is a dish that varies from state to state in Mexico, but Chef Godinez seems to have embraced the central Mexico City style. Chilaquiles are tortillas cut up and fried, then cooked in a sauce that can be red or green (Anepalco offers both). The tortillas are slowly simmered in the sauce until they become soggy and absorb all the flavors while maintaining a hint of crunchiness. You served them topped with many different ingredients, and Anepalco serves theirs with pick de gallo and avocado mousse on top of omelette style eggs. I wish they would offer sunny side up eggs because that's how I usually eat mine, but even with the omelette style eggs you won't be disappointed.
They also have huevos divorciados (divorced eggs) which are over medium eggs with both a red and a green sauce and are served atop a bed of chopped bacon, and sprinkled with cilantro and avocado pieces.
The list of yummy dishes goes on an on. They have sandwiches and burgers for all tastes with choices like chicken, carnitas, and even a ratatouille "burger."
If you have a sweet tooth like me, you've come to the right place. Anepalco offers crepes with different fruit fillings, but my two favorite desserts (I couldn't just pick one!) are the mango panna cotta and the tres leches (three milk) cake. The panna cotta, which is sprinkled with powder chili (I believe it's Tajín, but I could be wrong), is creamy and refreshing at the same time. Your mouth won't know what hit it! The tres leches cake is rich and moist, served with dulce de leche sauce. Your taste buds will feel like they've died and gone to heaven.
Now, without a doubt my favorite thing about Anepalco is their drinks. Bartenders Cesar Cerrudo and Jorge Sánchez make drinks that taste as good or even better than they look. And they look absolutely amazing, so you can just imagine how they taste. They offer a wide variety of drinks that range from the traditional like their Manhattans which are to die for, to the artisanal. Spicy, sweet, or nice and strong, they got it. I've tried a lot of them, but my top favorite are their barrel-aged drinks ('The MF' and 'French Domain' stand out), 'El Charro y Jazmin,' which has tequila, honey, lemon, jasmine liquor, and muddled epazote, an aromatic herb usually used for cooking, but Cesar Cerrudo managed to use it here with wonderful results.
My other favorites are not even on the menu, but play nice and ask the bartenders to make them for you. Drinks like 'La Abuelita Caliente' (Hot Grandma), which is made using Abuelita Mexican hot chocolate (hence the name) with liquor de café, crème de menthe and horchata foam. Also, 'el Café del Abuelo,' which is their version of an Irish coffee but with cinnamon and horchata liqueur. And lastly, 'El Cielo y el Infierno' (Heaven and Hell), created by Jorge Sánchez, which has mezcal, lavander essence and is infused with serrano peppers. A truly magnificent experience.
And of course, the best service ever. Knowledgeable and friendly staff that go out of their way to offer you a great eating experience.
Do yourself a favor and visit them as soon as possible. You'll leave satisfied and ready to be back for more.
We were there with a party of 10 and our server Jose did an outstanding job explaining the dishes and the origin of the menu. The enchiladas I got were superb and all my friends agreed... the food rules!
Thank You Chef for such an authentic yet modern take on Mexican food!
I wish I lived in California
The best guacamole and chilaquiles I ever tasted! Also, I highly recommend the Horchata French Toast!

Delicious food, great service, fun atmosphere! We had the Fundido, Carne Asada and Deconstructed Tacos, everything was flavorful and great. I will be back again.
I am trying to find the words to explain how amazing this is. Between the atmosphere, the employees, the food. It was amazing. We were there for breakfast and my daughter got the French toast. The sauce/syrup was amazing. I got the divorciados.... mouth watering goodness.

A must stop when I am in Orange. Everything is delicious, and the wait staff are attentive and very nice, upbeat.
This is our go to breakfast on our way out of town, as we head home from Disneyland. Great food, great service, one of those tiny places that have the best food!
We love this restaurant! The staff is so friendly and the food is delicious. We’ve never had a bad meal here. The chilaquiles are fire! But today we tried the burrito and chorizo tacos. Daaang! Can’t go wrong with anything you order here.
The BEST CHILEQUILES EVER! Best Coffee and abuelita mocha🤤😋🤤 so good! Excellent Service. One of Our favorite breakfast spots.
Had breakfast here. The chilaquiles divorciadas come with the red and green variety with eggs on top. I love spicy food and these were not spicy at all. But they had plenty of flavor. I personally preferred the red ones over the green. The presentation is very appealing. The service was friendly and attentive. Their hot chocolate is excellent using Abuelitas

This morning I was looking for a different place to eat and found this little place in Santa Ana. The reviews were a little mixed but I thought I would give it a chance. I was intrigued by the guava french toasts but was discouraged since it didn’t come with any sides. For $15.50 I wanted something a little more substantial. I went with the Chilaquiles Divorciados ($16). It was a mix of red sauce and green sauce - two fried eggs on too. Most of the tortillas are pretty soft so if you like a little mix of soft and crunchy you may have to make a request. Beautiful presentation. I also had a delicious mocha abuelita ($5). The menu is pretty small but the choices sound interesting. The place was empty when I arrived and was a little concerned since it was still morning. However, it started to get more customers as I enjoyed my meal. There is outdoor seating but it’s right where the cars park so it was not desirable for me. Indoors they have ample seating. The host/waiter was very nice and always checking on me. I would like to try the Orange location.
The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. The temperature was perfect, really flavorful without being too spicy. It’s the perfect family owned restaurant. Our server was kind and attentive. We had a large party and she was very patient.
Unpretentious, small restaurant with good service and flavorful food. The short rib omelet was generously filled, well seasoned and delicious. Can't wait to return and try more items because the plates that we're coming out of the kitchen all looked good.
Chilaquiles Rojas was really good. Duck perdido and horchata French toast was good but not as excellent as the chilaquiles.
They charge extra for more bread (cmon really…? At least let us know beforehand), but other than that the experience was good.
A great place to bring out of town guess and family. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is parking is usually a pain and there often you have time wait for a table if you have a party of 3 or more.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, I went here on a Saturday the place was packed but the wait was still only 15 mins! (mind you this is 2 people, bigger parties should call ahead.) The parking is terrible but well worth the hassle, such acute little spot. Plus the servers work in this beautiful unison which was really nice to see! 10 out of 10 would eat again!!
I had not been here in a few years. I like their modern twist to this traditional dish. We also got some coffee. I continue to recommend this place to friends.
this place is delicious! I still think about their guava french toast to this day! sooo good! also had the nortena omelette. if I lived closer, I would go here all the time

Great french- Mexican cuisine. My favorite red chilaquiles. This are so far the best chilaquiles I ever had way better than my Grandma's. Good coffee. Pastor tacos very yummy also!
Excellent for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Tasty Mexican street food experience. I also loved their Colombian Coffee, free refill. Friendly service.
First timer: I just had the chilaquiles delivered to my work. I was not disappointed at all. These chilaquiles are legit! Best I've ever had. I can just imagine how much better they are eating them at the restaurant. Very good flavor and the sauce they put on the bottom is what puts this dish over the top. Highly recommended! If I could give it 6 stars, I would!
Chiliquiles Rojos with barbacoa and a Mocha Abulita. I've been coming here for over a decade I think and have never been disappointed. Now any time anyone I know is visiting Orange County, I tell them this is a must stop.
This place wont disappoint in taste, and portion. The prices are fit for the food. I have been a few times and my favorite is the enchiladas. Omg so yum. However the the torta the meat just melted in your mouth. Love the agua fresca. Here in pic is watermelon and lime.
