Reviews Ristorante Genovese

We were looking for a new Italian place to try and based on other reviews, this place looked promising. We liked the idea of it being well-established and family run. When I called to make a reservation at 1:30pm, no one answered even though the website said they were open for lunch until 2. I left a message and waited to hear back. When I didn’t hear back by 5:15, I called back and mentioned that I’d left a message and was looking to make a reservation for that evening. They said they hadn’t listened to the messages yet, but could take my reservation over the phone. We’d asked for a 6:30 reservation and was offered a 6:15. Fine, but a rather clumsy process and not exactly the best first impression. We arrived a little before our reservation time, entered through the back patio entrance. It was quaint and kitschy. If you look at other pictures of the decor, you’ll notice the style is very old-country and homey. We were shown to our table and were warmly greeted shortly after. They brought us a basket of garlic bread to the table and took our beverage order. The bread was decent, but nothing special. We also ordered some fried mozzarella sticks which were also just okay. Next up were the soups that came with most of our entrees. I ordered the pasta fagioli and others ordered the minestrone. My soup had a thin but savory broth with pasta and beans. Pretty simple. I preferred the minestrone that I was able to taste as it had a nice aroma of herbs with hearty vegetables and pasta. Now to the entrees. I asked them to put together a pasta dish for me with pink sauce, chicken and fettuccine. It was delicious! Around the table someone had ordered the baked manicotti with sausage, a capellini pomodoro, and a veal with pasta. The manicotti was decent, but I didn’t care for the dense and dry texture of the sausage. The capellini was light and flavorful, solid. The veal dish looked good enough, but there was an unappetizing pool of oil at the bottom of the plate. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu for the table to share. Also a high point. It was so good! Throughout the course of dinner I smelled what I describe as dirty dish rag. I don’t know if it was because of where we were sitting (close to the kitchen) but it was distracting. If I had to break down the review into elements, I’d rate the experience as follows: Ambiance/decor: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 4 Overall a decent contender for family run Italian food in the area.

The food here is unique and therefore takes time to prepare. If you follow up with your waiter they'll be more than happy to update you on the status of your food. I ordered the Chicken Castillo so it took a while and it was so worth the wait! Shout out to the staff for a really friendly experience. 😁

Ordered Alla Frutti de Mare. I was impressed how much seafood it has and how much variety was in it. It was delicious. And the clam chowder it comes with was also perfect. Again, lots of seafood in that as well. It's my second time coming, last time I had the shrimp scampy and it was also delicious.

Everything on the menu is very high quality. Worth the price tag. Inside is so interesting. I got lost just looking around at all the cool decorations. Owner is extremely nice, was very friendly and funny. Customer service was great. Wait was short. I suggest coming and trying Genovese if you haven't already. One of my favorite dining experiences ever. I've never felt this good leaving a restaurant for less than 20 a person.

My family and I have been dining at Genvese's for over a decade, back when Mr & Mrs. Genovese Sr were still making the rounds at the tables and bringing smiles to everyone. While we genuinely miss them both, their children have brought some modernization to the establishment while still maintaining the family's original traditions. Though it's unfair, the food is almost secondary to the atmosphere! That being said, the food is always above reproach and delicious! My favorite dish is their chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta. The food is always fresh and cooked to order, and it genuinely tastes like it's all cooked with love! If you haven't before, you need to stop in at at this gem of a restaurant, if you have before - you need to go back! We're excited about the new family style to-go menu options and are looking forward to trying them! Here's to more decades of delicious homemade Italian food!

This is my place! Meaning for a long time I didn't share it with anyone. Realizing that's not fair to the staff and owners, here you go! Food, drinks and service is everything I want. Greg the bartender is "old school" the only place I order a Perfect Rye Manhattan. Grant the server is always entertaining and the food he brings is always great. Now you know🍸

Great experience here at the restaurant. We were really pushing our luck with a time as my husband and I went out for dinner but we got There about 9 o'clock when we noticed that they close at 9 and my husband was ready to go I said let's just ask them because people are there let's ask them if anything in the kitchen is open we gave it a shot in the were more than happy to take us even though it was the last of the kitchen closing the service was excellent or beyond excellent the gentleman waiter that we had was so friendly and positive energy that it just made us very happy and it was a pleasure being there the food while that I don't want to forget to rate because it was superb. There's Good food and there is bad food n there's OK food but it's been a really long time since I had such an amazing tasty flavorful delicious dish and a certainly had a great meal there my husband agreed

Excellent food with warm, kitschy atmosphere. The long time servers are professional with loads of personality. No reservations so be sure to come early or be prepared to wait. (They have lovely outside seating when weather permits.) Every dish we've sampled has been delicious and every one of our guests has wanted to returned. Ladies receive tacky (in the best sense) light-up flowers, kids get light sabers and birthday girls (and some boys, usually middle-aged) get light-up tiaras. Save room for dessert -- best spumoni we've had (and we've reseached southern California) and the huge portions of tiramisu have rabid fans. Great fun, with memorable food and servers who remember you from previous visits. Our preferred location for family birthdays and anniversaries.

Wonderful atmosphere for casual, delicious Italian food. Spent 2.5 hrs with old friends and never got an anxious glance from waiter. Give them a try. Nothing fancy, just a good meal and pleasant time.

We live around the area,we have always wanted to go and so we did. The place always has a good amount of people coming and going so that's good. We absolutely loved it from our server to all the staff around. Food was great. The place was cozy and elegant. My 7yr old daughter said that she even wants to work here😊
