Roast beef and stromboli are a must try! I never leave Oxford without eating here. The absolute best sandwiches in Mississippi. It should be a privilege to eat here, not a right. Enjoy.
My favorite place to eat in oxford. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of good you get. The muffaleta and roast beef subs are my two favorites and you will end up with leftovers from both. Service is excellent and friendly can't ask for a better pizza joint
Food Yes-Service NO!. You can't say anything negative about the food. I've eaten sandwiches here for over 34 years and it's like the first time every time. That's hard to do. As to the service, it is unfortunately just a painful today as it was the first time I ate here. I knew Bob. He was slow, but he wasn't bitter. This is one of the few "original" places left in Oxford. I hope it last forever.
Awesome. This place was great when I was a little kid and still is a great place today.
Great food and I love the "make your own sandwich" experience. Make sure Jonathan, Brett, and Eric are working when you go there.
One of my two all- time favorite places to eat on Oxford. But 2 things: service is a la Soup Natzi and if they tell u 20 minutes to get ur pickup don't wait! They will burn it in the oven until u get there. That said, best sandwiches in this town hands down!
Classic. Been going to Pizza Den (aka Pizza Bob's, 'Za Bob's or just plain Bob's) for over 30 years. Get the Strom or the Muff. Not much tomato sauce on the pizzas. Truly a classic.
Wmarler@hotmail.com. ABSOLUTELY the BEST college food !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Service SUCKS always has and part of the Ambiance think soup nazi Seinfield.
Pizza so so.
Sandwiches AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Muffaletta
Stomboli
RB and Gravy
Anybody who gives this a Negative review PLLEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE IGNORE!
Seriously!
I always get the Stromboli an it is great. Everything is good though.
Pizza Den. Had the lasagna last week -- very good. Got the side green salad that just hit the spot. The best part of all, though, was a loaf of sliced French bread slathered in garlic and butter. A huge hit......all of it.
(trying the open roast beef sandwich tonight and looking forward to it)
The food here was amazing!!! The atmosphere was great. My only complaint is the time it takes to get your order and the system thy have in place to keep up with whom ordered what. Other than that, the place was excellent.
Lunch Rush. The food here is good but I would definitely suggest going for lunch since late in the evening they are so dead it just isn't any fun. Go to the counter and order up your favorite pizza or sandwich.
ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!!!!!. Lov it lov it!! long wait but well worth it!! Sandwiches are to die for!! homemade pastas are a must!!! Nothing better i dream about this place........
Great Memories from Back in the Day. Last Saturday's forecast was 70 and sunny...that's all the Ride to Eat crew needed to hit the road. We had already promised a friend we'd attend the annual bike show at the local civic center; so, that only left us a few hours on the bike. Brian checked the weather and suggested we head south. With only an hour and a half driving radius, that left us only a few destinations...Oxford, Corinth, and New Albany. So, I turned to Urbanspoon.com and started spinning. When Pizza Den turned up on the "shake" I nearly fell off the bike!
While I was an undergraduate student at Ole Miss during the late 80's, I probably ordered from Pizza Den (or Pizza Bob's as we called it) at least 3 times a week. Same order every time...full-length Stromboli with a side order of chips. After graduating and moving to Memphis, I got my first grown-up job, got married and started a family. But, I never forgot about Pizza Bob's. So, on a sentimental tour around 15 years ago, my husband and I took the children on a road-trip to Oxford with the explicit purpose of eating the one, the only, Pizza Den Stromboli. With anticipation, we all pile in the car and headed to Oxford. When we turned on the University Drive exit, I was on the edge of my seat, I was so excited. But, as soon as we turned into the parking lot, my heart dropped. The building was empty...the booths gone, the ovens, everything...just gone. So, we at at McDonald's....yes, it was just that depressing.
So, to make this incredibly long review, even longer:-) When Pizza Den popped up on my mobile Urbanspoon at a different location, I had to hang on tight while I tried to flag down Brian and Judith to get them to pull over. First order of business, I had to call and verify that the restaurant was in fact the original Pizza Den...and, it was!! Second, to convince them it was worth a try. Neither had heard of the place; but, they could see how much I wanted to go. So, they gave me the "Pity Ok" and we were off!
We arrive at Pizza Den's "new" location and found the same old booths, same ovens, same atmosphere as the original...everything except the beloved Pizza Bob who had passed several years prior. But, his family still runs the restaurant and his memory lives on.
I head straight the counter and order the usual...full-length stromboli with chips for $8. My husband does the same. But, Judith and Brian take a different route and ordered a side salads for $4 and small pizza's for $6. I told them I'd never seen anyone order something besides one of their oven sandwiches; but, I'm sure it would be good.
The salads arrive and, I didn't want to admit it; but, they were pretty bad. Well...not bad really...just not worth $4. it was just a bowl of lettuce with a packet of dressing. At this point, I'm sweating it. I'd hyped this place up so much on the ride down and didn't want to disappoint everyone. But, I shouldn't have worried...when the pizzas and stromboli's arrived, it was as if it was 1984 all over again:-) The stromboli's were the same mouth-watering sandwich I remembered and the pizzas were just as good. Judith even commented that it was very close to the pizza she makes at home...which by the way is the most amazing pizza I've ever eaten...so, "close" to Judith's home-made, that's good enough for me!
So, the Ride to Eat crew gives this trip down memory lane, 4 revs of the engine!
Great sandwich. Pizza is great... but the Turkey with Gravy sandwich is a must try!
SO-SO. Great food. worst service in the entire world. last time i went it was not crowded and had to wait an hour. The next time i called my order in went 30 minutes later and they just kept telling me i hadnt called and ordered it. If you actually get the food its fire
Great place. If you go do Pizza Den you are in for a treat! You have to get over the fact that you have to get your own refills and such it's just not a servie oriented kind of place but still great none the less.
Muff and Stromboli can't be matched. Friendly service also.
Same as everyone else. Food is wonderful but service is horrible. The pizza is great and perfect to share with many. You have to get your own refills and scoop your own ice. You also have to go get your food from the counter when the rude people call out your order. Haven't been back since. Be careful asking for a take out box for leftovers. They give you the 3rd degree about it and inquire what you're taking home.
Yum. I crave this food! I recommend that half roast beef/half stromboli--you may not be able to finish, but you can always reheat later. If you are an ice fanatic like I am, know this: They have a flake ice machine. It's great. Also, I will say: Don't go if you're starving b/c it's not quick. But what you get is worth it. It's not health food, but it's delicious.
The best Stromboli ever made
Simply good. Totally delicious. the best thing to do for a hangover is to order a sub and a cup of sweet tea. Oh and they have that really good crushed ice.
Pizza Den is a great place to come! My family got two pepperoni pizzas and a roast beef sandwich and everyone loved their meals! If you are wanting nice, hot pizza or a great sandwich, this is the place to come!
My most favorite place to eat in Oxford! I am going to miss it so much when I move. A true hidden gem!
The muffuletta is one of the best outside Nola- everything is good- nice people- dog friendly outdoor seating- even brought my kids roast beef scraps!
We ordered takeout. It was ready right on time and it was delicious. Will be going back.
We are from Missouri and love pizza den, just ordered from car
.. yummy roast beef and cheese!
The couple of things that I have had here are freaking amazing. The ones I have tried are just so good I can't get away from them. I tell everyone I know about their AMAZING bread and anyone who hadn't been there or tried it I insist we go right then !!! Food is incredible and the staff are top notch !!
