Cute, cozy sushi place. If you're looking for fancy this is not the place for you. Food was good. I got the shrimp & vegetable tempura it teriyaki beef, came with rice and miso soup so it was a lot of food for just me. My SO got California roll with baked scallops on top and a baked Philly roll. He said they were just good nothing wow about them. Garlic mussels were good.

I'd rate this place like the best in the Desert. Fresh fish, good service and reasonably priced. I had 2 masago rolls and salmon skin that you can see on the pics.

Excellent quality for the price. Good fresh fish. Service was brusque but not unfriendly, and efficient.

Sushi in the desert?! I was a bit hesitant but had a late day of continuing education and needed this treat! It was a treat indeed! I made it to last call, they were so polite to allow me to order. I wasn't familiar with their menu and requested a few key ingredients. The sushi chef was happy to make a roll for me and it was delicious! It was cool, fresh and had just the right amount of heat to it (that special request of mine) I'm happy to recommend this restaurant and even more happy to visit them AGAIN! The price is fair, a steal really for what I got. Yum Yum! Many sushi restaurants are so pricey. I didn't feel like their fees were high at all. Very affordable which allows this treat more often. Yes! The atmosphere is super casual, the fish tank is fun!

Appears to be a family owned, small cozy place. Sushi is wonderful & well made. Not expensive for sushi, great value as it's very good. Went twice, late evening we had place to ourselves during weekdays. Highly recommend

Best Japanese food in the Coachella Valley. Probably the only REAL Japanese restaurant with the authentic tastes of Japan.

This Mom and Pop Japanese Restaurant and their ample and fresh fish keep me coming in at least once a week. They make you feel like a family member that dropped by for dinner. Reminds me of the Japanese restaurants back in Hawaii where all us locals felt at home and loved the food served. Plus, that movie Tanpopo is in my all-time faves film list! Go enjoy this excellent traditional yet casual Japanese eatery. Just please leave me some fish too!

Delicious fresh tasting food and reasonable pricing. Comfortable and homey environment. The place was empty when we went. Service may be slow on a busy night. Hope that all my future experiences are as good as this one. Definitely recommended!!!

This was the surprise of the year. From the outside Tanpopo looks liked nothing. The inside is also modest, so you wonder about the food. Do not wonder ..this is some of the best Japanese food I have ever eaten...and I am fussy. The Sushi was divine, the Tempura perfect, the salmon steak so good you could not help but eat the entire portion. This is a a must for lovers of great food, service that is not theming with tourists .

My husband and I looked for a traditional type of Japanese Restaurant and found Tanpopo on Yelp plus it was close to our resort. Glad we did excellent food and such a sweet lady whom was our server. My hubby is an expert on Nabeyaki Udon and this restaurant has some of the best. Come by for a wonderful meal
