Amazing spot. Easily the best in Palo Alto. Everything was really good and innovative. The duck breast might have been the best I've ever had. Portions are a little small and the wine list seemed kind of marked up.
Everything here is great, including the super knowledgeable sommelier. Don't miss the perennial menu favourites: grilled avocado and fried chicken. Cocktails are fantastically balanced, desserts are not overly sweet. All menu servings are usually shareable for 2 ppl as a large portion, or 4 ppl as a small portion.
A fun, hip, spot highlighted by creative menu choices that are exquisitely executed. Eclectic wine list is fairly priced and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful with choices. Bird Dog tops our list of must-visits when we return to Tall Tree Town. This Dog hunts.

EDIT to my review below: Emily, the co-owner, reached out to me about my experience as she wanted to better understand some of the details. She was very thoughtful and sincere and sent me a gift card that more than covered the cost of the glass of wine and invited me back. I did go back with my original party + some others and we had a fantastic time. Like before, the food was amazing and we all very much enjoyed ourselves. Service was spot on even to the point that the bartender remembered a special drink he made for a friend of mine that was with me the first time, a week ago. My friend was pretty happy and very impressed. I won't let my first experience deter me from returning or recommending Bird Dog!

Everything tasted amazing. Service was excellent. The rating is based on Brent, the wine steward, who after asking for a house red wine, took it upon himself to take advantage of our table and serve a $42 glass of red wine. Not impressed or appreciate being taken advantage of. Customers beware of Brent!

Simply put, the best restaurant in Palo Alto. Get the Avocado, Uni, Wagyu, honestly everything. Wine list is wonderful; cocktails are perfectly made.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Bird Dog. The food was cooked to perfection with just the right balance of spices. Among my favorites were the Grilled Avocado, Farro and the Wagyu Bavette. The dessert dishes (which we all shared) were also amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Exceptional food and great service. Modern, clean decor. Impressive wines. Overall, a great find. Serving size is somewhat small, so the water advised ordering an extra dish per course to share among the 3 of us, which worked well. If you order obvious side dishes like potatoes, ask to have them served with the main course. Food was very creative and perfectly prepared.
This was my first time dining at Bird Dog and I was seriously impressed with their combination of flavours and the attentive staff. The squash with tofu and mushrooms was such a delicious and memorable dish.

New prix fixe menu with special add-ons. Highly recommend the sweet and savory goodness of the caviar on a belgian waffle with creme fraiche. The sustainably raised blue fin tuna, with a kick of pepper, melted in my mouth . The striped bass was delicious with crispy skin and a flavorful dashi - I can't quite figure out what made it so tasty... The food, drinks, people, and the music made for a very special dining experience.
We were there for a journal club and we wanted to sit in a big table, to talk about different educational matters, however they have given us two separate tables. We couldn’t even hear each other. We had to wait for them to rearrange the tables.
Anyway, the atmosphere was good and staff were nice. I had lamb steak and it was delicious. 👍🏻
food was ok - middle of road on taste. for the quality and price the portions were far too small. Had to get supplemental meal afterward. Staff was extremely accommodating and generous - great service and ambiance.
