Great food and great staff. I brought my family in and was promptly met at the door by Ramona she spoke to my children and made the visit such a wonderful experience. You very rarely see the manager come out and interact with the customers but this was one place my family and I felt right at home. Thanks Johnny Tamales and Ramona We will definitely be back and refer our friends and family as well.

Classic Tex Mex to the core. We love their chips and salsa, beef fajitas, margaritas, and rice/beans. Their success over the past 20+ years has always hinged on fresh ingredients and top-level service.
The food is always good. They bring out a red & green salsa with chips which I prefer the green. No long wait for food to be ready. And One of the best Strawberry Margaritas in town! Of many years going here, only 1 waiter issue: forgot to get my drink from bar. Otherwise, the waitstaff have all been friendly and attentive. For sure, Will keep going back!
Always a good experience. Decent food and drinks that are competitively priced. I prefer it over many of the other Mexican chain restaurants.
Living in Clear Lake I forget about places up in Pasadena sometimes but I used to love to come to this Johnny tamales because they would make a burrito exactly the way I liked it which was more in the Mexican style and not tex Mex, and while they don't have burritos on their menu anymore they do have some healthier choices and I was very impressed! The food was very flavorful. And it was easily enough for two meals . I have now been twice in the last 2 weeks and gotten the veggie Bowl which is absolutely delicious. They also have the best sopapillas I have ever had anywhere! Service was awesome and extremely helpful both times even with helping me select based on my food allergies. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back
We attended a birthday party and they served beef and chicken fajitas with rice and beans. Food was prepared perfectly and the tortillas so good!!! Wish there was one on my side of town (290 West in Cypress)
Everything was good. The young man was very nice and attentive. I was very touched when the staff talked to an elderly woman who was in the wrong restaurant. They even talked to her contact on her phone to help her.
They were so busy when we went there then it took a little extra time to get our food but I still think they did a good job and we were satisfied with our dinner. They have a lot on their menu and I would stop by there again.

Food is always GREAT -- fresh ingredients, promptly served, nice and hot. Service is fast and friendly. It's a bit loud, but that's because it's such a popular restaurant.
Great atmosphere and awesome JT margarita is on sale for $5.25 on Tuesday! I'm a big dude, and two of those let me have an amazing experience every time! There's a reason everyone is limited to four!

We had my moms 50th surprise birthday here and it was the smartest choice we could have made and will definitely be using them in the future. They worked with us on scheduling and pricing. Helped us through the entire process so we didn’t have to stress over how everything worked. It was a really easy and quick set up and the Staff was absolutely so wonderful, even when we didn’t meet our requirements they still didn’t make us pay for the unused plates on top of everything being so affordable. The food was super good and our waiter was the best. I could go on and on about how awesome our experience was. We even got to shoot poppers and without hesitation they told us not to worry about picking up at the end that they had us covered, I mean some of the staff even helped us decorate since I was running a little behind. It was just all around a great experience and I recommend this awesome restaurant to anyone looking for a place to have a party. They will take great care of you!! Thank you so much again Johnny Tamales for making my moms 50th surprise birthday party so special!
This place is excellent! The food is amazing and authentic. Don't worry about the sign Tamale it's good Mexican food their trust me. The portions are good for the price. I normally order the Cabo, it comes with a mixture of food fajitas, bacon wrapped shrimp, homemade tortillas, beans/rice. Everything is good! The only bad thing is, there's only one restaurant and it's not a franchise. I guess that's a good thing because the food is homemade and not commercial.
Dinner at the bar. Arrived at 5:30pm and the bar always reasonably crowded. Appeared to be regulars for dinner. There were 3 seats available. The restaurant had no wait for seating. Jose the bartender was attentive and got a menu and drink order immediately. He also provided chips and salsa and a white sauce. Chips tasted fresh and salsa varieties were good. I settled on the El dorado chicken. Topped with a wine sauce, shrimp and crawfish. It came with soup and rice. I opted for two fresh corn tortillas as well. It was delicious and an ample portion. While this is not a chain it has that vibe-but the food(at least what I saw and tried) is great!
