The only place for the coveted “best tasting cheese steak! We love to make this one of our first stops to beat the lines and crowds.

Order tip!! We tried all the options and the best was a Philly with American Cheese and Cheese Wiz. That was advice we received and they were right. It was like heaven on a bun!

This place was a staple of my college years. For more than 35 years since, it has been a must stop any time I'm back in town. We took part in the usual make-new-friends-and share-old-stories ritual during our 45 minute wait Saturday afternoon and the time flew by. Well worth it for an extra-whiz-with. Even as South Street has fought the good fight against corporatization, it's good to know your old landmark is still there serving up some of Philly's best steaks. Don't miss it if you come to town!

The sandwich was amazing. I did it without onions and with whiz and provolone.

We were told this is the place to go to get a real Philly cheese steak, and we weren't disappointed! Their sandwiches are delicious, and they have other options if you're not really into cheese steaks. The prices were reasonable and they make the food right in front of you. If you have your covid vaccine cards handy, you can eat your food in a dining area upstairs that has a nice view of the street. The restaurant was clean and the staff were efficient.

Delicious cheese steak! Somebody told us this was the only cheese stake that worths and it definitely does. The place gets packed at lunch time so if possible, get there early. There’s a few tables outside but if you take a 5 min walk, you can eat it in a park nearby. Would recommend it for sure! Traditional cheese stake with wiz costs 10.99 and it can be shared if you’re not too hungry!

Jim's had always been among my very favorite cheesesteaks. I've eaten at both locations and I love them both. However since the South Street location in temporarily unusable perhaps you'd like to try their West Philadelphia spot.

2nd stop on the Philly Cheesesteak Tour in Philadelphia. I enjoyed this thoroughly! I asked the guy to prepare it just l Iike it's suppose to be in Philly! It was so good! I loves the energy and smell of good food! Great atmosphere while there and nice layout! Will Vista again when I return to hit up more Cheesesteak joints there.

Jim's is top 3 in my humble opinion. I finally got a chance to visit this south st location. Was thoroughly impressed with everything. The pictures and autographs on the wall were a nice touch. The steak is very good and cooked to perfection. Was devastated when they closed the northeast location so now it's South Street or bust. Great job & keep up the great work.

When a place is widely regarded as the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia, it’s easy to get complacent and start to slack on the quality. Not this place. It doesn’t matter what time of day what day of the week or what month of the year, this place gives the absolute best cheesesteak. The rolls are loaded with meat the onions are grilled to perfection.

So sad to hear about the fire. Very thankful to have been able to visit in its original state. I can’t imagine the devastation of losing all the memorabilia that was on the walls. When you reopen, this little Californian will make the trip back to support you!

Not bad for $23 for two Cheese Steaks. Sat upstairs. Ton of autographs on the walls. Good food. Ate these at 11 a.m. and had no regrets. Nice workers and great food!

Good diner vibes at Jim’s. We stopped by here for Philly cheesesteaks. They also have veggie options like an all-vegetable sandwich on a hoagie and egg+cheese sandwiches. I thought the service was not very friendly but the bread was surprisingly good (bread really completes a sandwich, not just the fillings).
