Both my friend and I thought the food was spectacular. We found the restaurant through Food Network, and decided to try while in Philly. I ordered the Bromance, and it was amaze-balls. My friend thought the Super Mario was worth a repeat as well
Had dinner in 6/13/16 with my wife & daughter. We sat outside during a pleasant evening. The service was very attentive. We ordered pulled pork nachos, rueben sandwich, beer can chicken, & a goat cheese salad. Everything was delicious. The price was very reasonable. We will return again.
Great food and great service. Will Donnelly be back. Meatloaf with gris was great. As was the burger. Yum.
Great vibe with food to match. Ahhhh....where should I start?
Ladyfriend and I sat at a table in the downstairs bar area and enjoyed wonderful service from the lovely Fallon. Friendly, charming, enthusiastic, fun, and NOT intrusive. Just great!! Her fantastic attitude and attention set the tone for our entire visit. Music on in the background at just the right level.
We split the mac and cheese fritters. Wow!....can't believe we finished the whole plate and it was filling enouh to be our dinner. Yum!!!!!!!!!!
Beer selection was good and ladyfriend's Cosmo was especially light and delicious--and she's a tough customer!
We are so glad we visited Sidecar on a nasty night and were rewarded with excellent food and drinks, nice atmosphere and superb service. Had a great time and we'll definitely be back!
Good but not varied. I really like the burgers here. Everything is cooked very well but I would like to see a little more imagination beyond the normal pub far. Burgers...check, Chicken...check, Salad's...check....
Etc. etc.
I do really like it though
Great bloody mary's, brunch is always great... Staff is terrific always!
Daily happy hour from 3-7pm. Awesome food n good beer selection. Ya can't go wrong homie
Saturday night was spent in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, dining and drinking at two of the area’s best spots – Divan Turkish Kitchen and the Sidecar. Dinner was first up, at Divan. It’s a cute and cozy spot on the corner of 22nd and Carpenter. Ther
My family stopped here on a whim after a medical appointment and were absolutely blown away by both the quality AND quantity of food on their brunch menu. Hubby got the brisket cheesesteak and not only was it out of this world, but we took half home to enjoy later. Same with the breakfast burrito that came with the freshest, crispiest side salad, and if you don’t think breakfast burrito and salad go together, this will change your mind. The boys devoured their burgers (two patties each!), and as a side note, damn good Bloody Mary’s. Cheers! 🍻
I had thee absolute best time ever here especially as a new customer. My sister and I will be going here more frequently. The manager Martese (I hope I spelled that right) was GREAT. And another patron Kevin chatted with us and schooled us about all things lacrosse. The food was amazing...... although I had to send my sandwich back because it was just too salty. So I got a burger. And the caesar salad was amazing!!! I've never had it with capers before and it didn't make it overly salty. Nice vibe would be an understatement
Update 8/13/2023: Still 5 stars. Wanted to add the Beef Bourgeoning Gnocchi. OMG DELICIOUS!!!!!
This spot is great! From the pizza to the wings to the weekend brunch. I really don't know if there's a better neighborhood bar in any city. Big fan of the Espresso Martini there too. Sidecar is a staple of Philadelphia and one that I hope is around for many decades to come.
The overall experience seems to be a little on the down side
It's a real shame...
I've heard a lot good things overall when it comes to the food.
The Mac and cheese; though properly "cheesed" was on the runny and salty end. (Regardless this was still quite good for what it was)
The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was a lot of waste in the spice and space department.
Highlight? Bun and pickles...
Seems like a lot of hot oil with minimal pepper based flavor to back it up. (Mind you, this is a heat : flavor issue)
The "ranch" came off as a mild "salt aoli" in retrospect.
Service itself was okay. A negroni shouldn't take as long to come to a table as a mac & cheese appetizer.
The negroni itself was very standard. No issue there.
Dropped into Sidecar on a whim, ordered the Love is Religion and Kiss of Life, burger, brussels, mussels, vegan wife had the Sesame Noodles.
The food was INCREDIBLE, cocktails were even better. I forgot to take pics of the burger because I was in love after the first bite. Fries were hot and crispy. Brussels had a touch of sweet. Whole experience was phenomenal.
Hostess was very accommodating of our baby and the manager Dan made sure we were good and happy, which we definitely were. Service was speedy and on point. Outside patio was covered and comfortable.
So happy we accidentally ended up there, can’t wait to go back.
When looking for something for dinner one day a couple months back, saw them on Caviar and decided to try since I'd heard of the place before.
Ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and Buffalo Wings. The sandwich was pretty good and so were the wings - I liked how saucy the wings were. Probably would've preferred the wings bring a little crispier or cooked more, but also think it probably would've tasted better if it was ordered and eaten at the restaurant versus having to travel but, given the pandemic, that wasn't an option.
Hope to try this place again in the future when things have gotten better and I can eat at the restaurant.
Update: went here for the first time in-person last week (December 2022) and it was great! We went for the late night happy hour drinks and also ordered a couple of things to eat. It was good eats, good drinks, great music & vibe - would definitely go again & recommend checking them out!
a really great spot - our true go to when we want to head to south philly. there is a lot of outdoor seating. it is heated in the winter, fanned in the summer. you can make reservations, which is a plus!
the food is incredible and they have really tasty cocktails, and cold beers. and great happy hour specials and a solid brunch menu.
Laid back bar/restaurant in Graduate hospital. Featuring indoor seating on the first and second floor with multiple bars, and plenty of outdoor covered seating with heaters. The service is really quick and friendly. And the food is very good with quality items to choose from like salads, burgers, soups and more.
Cute place, we sat upstairs where there was a big projector playing football! The host seating wasn’t the nicest but our waiters were awesome! Mac and cheese was good as well as the burger w/fries.
Their drink list is good I had the donut stout and Frose which was both delicious! A good spot to grab a drink and quick bite!
Great staff and delicious food. We tried pepperoni and white pizzas, garlic parm wings, fried cheese platter, ceasar salad and had great drink specials.
Will come again!!!
A restaurant with options galore and all of them will tempt you.
After a snowstorm delayed travel plans, it opened an opportunity to get brunch with new friends. The Sidecar takes reservations, which is highly recommended as you will end up waiting otherwise. Upon arrival you are kindly greeted and treated that way for the duration of your visit.
Opening the menu will turn you into one of Pavlov’s dogs. You’ll scroll cross the humorously named Between Two Slices and a delicious sounding farmers omelette, before you get to the benny section. There are three different eggs benedict options. The porchetta struck me as the most intriguing and it was a great decision. Each bite was bliss. The softness of the egg and sauce allowed the crispy porchetta to come through nicely. And oh my gosh are the potatoes crispy!
The atmosphere inside was busy but calm and allowed for great conversations to be had and new friendships to blossom. They have a great streatery setup ideal for warmer weather dining.
If you last visited prior to November 2019, you need to try it again. New management took over and totally revamped the menu, and it is amazing.
I love being able to get a solid meal and excellent drinks at the same time. Lots of local beers on tap. The food is better than at most restaurants.
This is worth mentioning but they serve what is possibly the best fried chicken sandwich in town. We also liked the shrimp and grits, the pork belly mac & cheese, and the s'more pancakes.
They have a Saturday and Sunday brunch menu, and a dinner menu. We came on Sunday for brunch with our kids, and we were well accommodated.
Happy hour here is great. Their burger and beer combo is one of my faves. They have alcoholic slushie drinks in the summer and strong IPAs on tap. Love having this in the neighborhood.
I truly think this is my favorite spot in Philly. Low key bar and delicious food. Pizza, fried chicken, and hamburger are some of the best in the city. I've had many a Friday night where I eat an entire pie of pizza from Sidecar and binge watch Netflix - doesn't get much better (I mean it!).
Food was really good but the service was outstanding.. I recommend to make a reservation before you plan to visit.. they have only outside seating right now.
