The food is good, depending on what you get. I got the dumplings which were great. Lamb shank special fell off the bone and the best thing on the table that night. Chicken was average. Service is slow, they only had 2 people working on a packed Saturday night (might just have been that night, not sure if it's every weekend) so be prepared to wait. Byob is a great add.

I loved this place. Neat ambiance without going crazy overboard. Very attentive wait staff and comfortable seating. BYOB is perfect for a more affordable romantic dinner. Prices are reasonable and portions are great. I ordered a lamb dish and my girlfriend ordered a beef and pumpkin dish. They were both so flavorful and unique! And if you can get the window seat, you can enjoy the food with a view.

Phenomenally delicious food. Quiet peaceful setting and great staff. Be sure to get the sweet saffron rice with your meal, it really makes the difference. As for meal choice, you really cant go wrong with anything. Spicy for them means really spicy so be careful.

I can't stay a long time away from this place. The best rice with chicken and rice with lamb. A lot to eat with low price. The portions are big and you can share it. I love all types of turnovers and dumplings. The atmosphere is great, specially that you can set and eat on the ground and live the experience of the Afghans lifestyle.

Kabul was amazing. My girlfriend and I went there for a date night not knowing what to expect. The menu had a wide variety of food that suited both of us. I eat meat and my girlfriend is a vegetarian. We had such a good time. The atmosphere was good, the staff was very friendly, and the food was amazing. We have been talking about for days already and will be going back with lots of friends and family.

Very nice atmosphere, polite waiters. Food was delicious and portions are good size. I tried eggplant dish and my husband had lamb special. Will definitely be back to try other things.

Excellent food with a courteous staff; I definitely recommend it. The food comes in surprisingly large portions and we were genuinely stuffed afterwards. There's also a traditional seating dias in the back that I'd like to try the next time I go.

We arrived just after opening, and received wonderful service and amazing food! Sometimes establishments treat you poorly when they know you have a Groupon, but we had fabulous service. The foods we chose for the appetizer sampler were DELICIOUS - I don't know if I liked the Sambosa Goushti or the feta turnovers better - and the suggestions from the chef were tasty (and I'm not a big pumpkin fan). We shared a plate Kabuli Palaw, and ordered extra meat (so we actually tried both chicken and lamb). It was truly wonderful, but WHO could finish that whole thing??? We were both hungry, but after the appetizers, together we still took home food. And I broke down and ordered the carrot cake to go… Oh. My. Goodness. YUMMY! Overall, this was a wonderful place for a meal, and if you are willing to try new dishes and flavors, this will not disappoint! Nothing was too spicy, but it also wasn't bland - they were balanced, well-seasoned dishes and very generous servings! We will be returning!

First time I went was in 2004 and I never stopped going back. Sure, they are not consistent 100% of the time but they make up for it with very hospitable service and excellent food. I have tried pretty much everything but love the kabuli palaw with lamb, extra meat and their kababs are amazing. Some of the reviewers complaining about this place's portions to those in other cities like DC and New York are forgetting that there is more to value than just a large portion. Those other places serve you using disposable tableware being able to give you large portions. That kind of practice would shut this place down, considering its location. Regarding those who say this is an American version of Afghan food, I completely disagree because this place's flavor profile matches that of Kabul, not some other region in Afghanistan.

Amazing service. My waiter was very attentive. The food was flavorful and the lamb shank was cooked well with the meat falling off the bone yum :)

We have mixed reviews here. The lamb shank was really good but some chicken dish we ordered was ok. Not the best atmosphere here but then again this is not a high end restaurant.
