Extremely cool space, good beer, slow service. I loved the space and the retro feel. They have their menu on VHS tapes. There were lots of games at the bar to play. We went on a Friday night. They had a few vendors selling handmade items and a musician performing. While I normally am not the biggest fan of IPAs (and a majority, like 75% of their beers on tap are IPAs), I really enjoyed most of theirs. They weren’t super hoppy and had some great flavoring. They had the best watermelon sour that I highly recommend! We had mac and cheese, nachos, and a cuban sandwich. They serve food, however, they do not have a traditional working kitchen. The “kitchen” is behind the bar with a single burner, a panini press, and a toaster oven. Definitely good drunk food, afterall my mac and cheese was topped with crushed Cheetos, but this is not fine dining, or to be honest, even a dining experience. Bar service was horrible. It seemed like the bartenders first time working on a Friday night. We were ignored for 10 minutes after sitting down at the bar. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks. They have a line to the bar for people sitting at the tables as they do not have servers. We ended up waiting in this line to get a second round of drinks. Overall, I would give this place another try since I loved the vibes and the sour, but definitely manage your expectations with their food and service.

awesome time at the most recent drag brunch! all of the staff was wonderful and the manager was quick and attentive. the show was a blast, the food was great and of course the beers were yummy. also non beer options if beer isn't your thing. right now the brewery is decked out for the holidays making it a fun spot to get in the spirit :)

Energetic, queer friendly bar with a good selection of beer. Favorite was their lemongrass pale ale. Also ordered the Flatbread pizza which was the perfect accompaniment.

This was my first time at Evil Genius Beer Company . The vibe is very chill.. the food was okay. I had the $1 tacos on Thursday. It was the first Thursday selling tacos for this special. The tacos didn’t come with cheese, so be sure to request it. The tacos were kind of bland. I had to use hot sauce to add some flavor. The staff were friendly. No complaints with that. The woman with the dreads made my margarita perfectly. She was sweet. The music was a cool, they played a host of songs. This is the perfect place for a quick bite, and for the beer lovers. They had a variety of beer flavors on tap and in the can. Definitely a must try if you enjoy a nice cold brew.

TLDR: Awesome atmosphere, great beer. Perfect place to spend a Saturday with friends. Vibe: 4/5. Located in the heart of Fishtown, Evil Genius has a sprawling complex complete with both indoor and outdoor seating. On the Saturday I visited, they had the entire street blocked off directly in front of the brewery for an impromptu concert and street hangout. I am unsure if this is a weekly occurrence, but it was very well organized and welcoming to everyone. They had several tables and beer tents set up as well as a mobile axe throwing booth (free!). The band playing was extremely talented and played a great selection of pop classic covers throughout the afternoon. My only wish is that Evil Genius rented a few port o pots for the outside festivities, as the brewery only has a handful of unisex stalls which caused a wait for the bathroom. Service: 5/5. The staff at Evil Genius were great from first to last pint. When we visited, you could purchase beer at both the inside bar and an outside tent setup in the street. Both locations were quick to get patrons their order and friendly in the process. Security manning the door was also friendly as you entered and exited the front door. Beer: 4/5. The beers at Evil Genius were both creative and tasty. I was able to sample the bacon beer and one of their IPAs and both were tasty. Pricing was reasonable as well, with pints hovering around the $8 range. If I wasn't so caught up in the outdoor festivities, I would have loved to sample a flight of beer to really get a better idea of their beer offerings, but maybe next time!

Cool, airy spot with good beer and big screens to watch the Champions League Final. It was pretty empty when I came at 3:30pm on a Sat but gradually filled up. They also have a lot of board games and big tables for big groups. Nice outdoors area too, but without screens.

Visited Evil Genius finally after living in Philly for a few years now. Came out to try their sour beer focused event which was fun! The beer garden was a little small for the event and more shade would have been appreciated, but the sours were great. Afterwards we tried out the normal tap room and was impressed with the vibes inside. Will likely come back to try more beers.

Strictly speaking about the Stacy's Mom American IPA. Tasting this smooth drinkable IPA at Toast in Richmond VA. Both are very good!

Beer and cider were tasty. Pizza and Cuban sandwich were delicious. It wasn't crowded and they had games on each table and TVs with sports on. Plus Eagles themed beer!

One of the coolest venues for a brewery. Nerd and pop culture paradise. Where else can you watch 1980s transformers and Seinfeld at a bar? They have (had?) retro video games to play and every beer name is a reference to some movie, show or meme. Yesssssss that's the Christopher Walken cooler... Get it? 😬 They do really fun beer and they're overall very enjoyable. Food options are limited which is ok! They specialize in beer. It's mostly snacks/apps like pretzels. Parking could be better but that's like legit the only complaint.

Awesome brewery! Really cool vibe with high top tables, booths, and couches. They have board games to play and a few TVs showing a good variety. All of the employees were very helpful and offered suggestions and details about the beers. I tried the pretzel beer and was very impressed by how close the taste was to pretzels while still being enjoyable to drink. The whole place has a bunch of cool decor. They also had some fun merch they were selling. Would definitely recommend checking it out

I've always liked Evil Genius, and I was really excited to come to this location in Philly. Initially felt kind of sketchy because it was under the L, but the vibe inside was great! The inside was surprisingly very spacious. Everyone looks like s/he's having a great time. Tables and benches were filled with people, and there are games laid out for people to play! This was awesome. I got in line for the beer, and the selection was great (hopefully, since it's a brewery). You're able to make your own sampler, and they have paper/pen out ready for you, and all you have to do is write the number down and they'll get it for you. I was satisfied with all the beer I had. My friend ordered food, which was average. Pretty much all finger foods, so not entirely satisfying for me. Overall, great place to come with friends and to have a drink! Rating: 7/10 Pros: Beer, inside vibe Cons: Sketchy exterior, finger foods not impressive

Very fun place - enjoyed the games, and the Nintendo setup on a retro 90s TV. Well done, interesting industrial and quirky interior. Enjoyed the beers, did not try the food.

First off...I love the area where they're located (Fishtown) secondly, the staff is wonderful--they even managed to keep a smile when the overly friendly stranger sitting next to me continuously mis-pronounced their names, even after she asked them several times. And for every act she displayed that only someone truly inebriated would think was okay...the staff/servers still were polite & helpful to her. (She thankfully tipped them well--I only know because I had to help her close her bar tab). The atmosphere-I loved it. Quirky meets trendy-meets-industrial...maybe that should be reversed. It's like an industrial building with lofty ceilings was taken over, revamped using reclaimed & repurposed items with interspersed comfy seating throughout and then the quirky cartoons painted on some of the walls. I loved all of it. The beers I love stout beers-and they have several to choose from. My go-to when I buy their beers in a store is "Stacy's Mom" but now I think I have a new one. Number 7

This place was PACKED! BUT for good reason. Line wasn't too long to get a flight of delightfully named and flavored beers. The sloppy joes were also quite delicious and the servers somehow found you in a sea of people very quickly. Clearly a popular weekend hangout worthy of a few hours

Can't believe I haven't checked out this place before. Not only is the name really cool, but the drinks and the food were delicious as well. I actually had a hot cocktail and normally breweries kinda have meh cocktails since that's not what people usually go for.. but in this case it was awesome. Also the service was very quick and the outdoor area is fun and good for a group to hang out. Would recommend the Mac and cheese and jalapeño popper grilled cheese for food!

The games on the tables are just one more addition to why this place is such much fun. The great beer is the icing of the atmosphere and fun times.

Stop by for a couple beers before my flight out. This is a fun place! If I lived here, this would be one of my home bases for sure. Great outside and good beer....

Was visiting Philadelphia and thought I try a microbrewery. This place did not disappoint. Super packed on a Saturday night but great craft beer. I had “Complete the Process” an imperial double ipa that was smooth. The food was well made. I had the tomato caprese sandwich. Would visit again. Keep it up guys.
