First time patron. We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The food was good, everything is $$$ Al-la-cart. The service was amazing; the staff checked on us and accommodated our request. While, I gave five stars. It’s important to note that they have this wonderful bread basket. However, no one made us aware that one of the breads had pork in it; it was pepperoni. We do not as a family or in our culture eat pork, and it was a little surprising that that wasn’t mentioned, or even inquired about as the menu was given us, or as the waitress took our order; just be careful if you have dietary restrictions. I ordered the chicken Milanese.. while it was good and I did give (five) stars the chicken was a bit over cooked. The rigatoni was great a little Parmesan Cheese would have made it better. My daughter ordered the sea bass and was well pleased. Great place for celebrating… we went around happy hour on a Monday and the place was full of patrons. Seating and service was quick. Lovely Ambience….Basement level…there is a elevator ( hidden), I say this, because if you have some mobility issues, you might wanna inquire about how to get to the elevator from the inside going down, we found out about it from the inside as we were coming up.
I really don’t have anything bad to say about this place. My boyfriend and I were trying to decide between 5 different potential dining options for visiting Philly and I’m so glad we chose this one. Reasonable prices, great atmosphere, and even better food. The bread is exquisite, it comes with three different kinds which is cool since it’s different than other Italian places I’ve been to. I got the hand pulled mozzarella for my appetizer and they prepped it at the table for me which was awesome to watch. Definitely will be back the next time I visit!
This reminds me of the newsies, which were hidden subterranean clubs that people used to sneak into and have a good time. This place has a great vibe for drinks. The greatest dish was the Caesar salad, and the garlic bread tasted great, too. At best, the entrée of gnocchi, calamari, and spinach was mediocre. It was enjoyable to converse with everyone at this large party that we brought here for restaurant week. The restaurant had a subdued, romantic atmosphere.
This place is great all around. If you haven't been here I highly recommend it. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is warm and fun and the staff always goes above and beyond
They were packed and we didn't have reservations since we just stopped in late. They still made us feel welcome, got us a spot at the bar and after a drink they had found a spot for us within a few minutes. They even remembered my friend from a previous visit somehow and knew here drink order. Overall great experience!
Incredible food and service! Went there for my birthday dinner with my parents. The manager came up to us to wish me a happy birthday and check that everything was good. I got the Sunday sauce/gravy which tasted just like my great aunt Nettie’s. They also brought out a cannoli for me for my bday even though we didn’t order dessert (had cake waiting at home). Overall, they made it a great experience for us.
The vibes here are immaculate, it’s tucked in underground kind of like a little speakeasy. The food is great, and the staff are fun and friendly. In general a great date night spot. I will be returning to try the Handpull mozzarella.
We loved this restaurant. Being from out of town, we didn't have time to make a reservation but the staff were able to find us a table quickly which we really appreciated. The food was fantastic and the table side preparation of the tiramisu was amazing.
I came here for happy hr on a Sat, yes a Sat ! I loveee the ambience- it’s so dim, intimate, and I loved the decor.
I ordered the mussels, garlic bread, ricotta toast, shrimp, calamari, clams, and meatballs. My favorite was the garlic bread. Drinks were really tasty too.
The restaurant is in the basement, but has a wonderful speak easy feel.
Wonderful experience. 4 of us. Everything is pretty shareable. Wonderful drink at the bar while waiting for friends. It's about $50 a person, and we had salad, entree, dessert and coffee. Great job.
As an Italian American myself, it’s important to me that I indulge in the best Italian food I can find. This restaurant, located in the heart of Philadelphia, happened to catch my eye. As you walk in, you go down a flight of stairs greeted with the bar, walking into the most beautiful Italian style ambience. I had made a reservation for two and was seated as soon as we walked in. Our waiter greeted us with 3 different types of fresh cut bread and a delicious plate of olive oil! Their menu offers a variety of different pastas, Seafoods and meats. Food was served in a timely manner, and let me say my favorite thing about this place is that they’re portions aren’t ridiculously huge. You don’t leave this place feeling sickly full, you leave the place feeling like you had some banging dinner at Nona’s house. Service was outstanding, and had the pleasure of meeting the manager as she made her way through the dining room assuring everyone was having the best experience. I’ll for sure be back and will be sending people in this direction!
