Trish and Colleen make this place shine the entire staff there are extremely professional and courteous from the moment you walk into the place you know you’re at a local diner and the food never leste you down! The chicken pot pie special was absolutely perfect. Piping hot from the broiler to the t
I ordered a BLT with fries and it had to be the biggest BLT I have ever gotten from a diner. Our waitress was super attentive and kind. It is always busy there and I can see why. The food is delicious and the service is awesome! Definitely recommend you try them!
This is one of the highest rated diners in Philly so we decided to visit. The diner has a bakery attached so you can pick up sweets without having to enter through or wait in the diner which is a less common setup and much appreciated. We were seated really quickly by the hostess who was really upbe
I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast at The Dining Car. I ordered the Sunday breakfast special of French toast with strawberries and bananas. My companion ordered eggs and potatoes that came with yummy bacon . The food was fresh, with the exception of an overripe bananas. Overall, it was a good d
Great local diner experience. Tasty food. I had eggs with pork roll and potato pancakes. Excellent. Stop by the bakery. The Jewish apple cake is delicious.
Such a great diner! We had the potato pancakes, fabulous turkey sausage, a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese & scrapple. So delicious! The coffee is excellent and the service is attentive but not annoying. Can’t wait to come back again.
It's nostalgia. The staff is always nice, the food (on the few trips we've had there.) And the bakerybhave all been delicious. If it were closer we'd dine ther more often.
First time eating here , great food and service
My mom, who passed away in 2019, grew up in the Northeast and always talked about coming to The Dining Car. She used to visit on her own and with HER mother! For whatever reason I had never eaten here...though signs point to me being a stubborn South Philly girl who never leaves her neighborhood. Bu
I had to try this place based on all reviews and everything I’ve heard about it. I arrived at 11:30am in a Sunday and didn’t leave until 1:30pm. The line was so long it was out the door and through the bakery section. They don’t seat like a regular restaurant where you provide your name and party si
I had not been here in years and I was very pleasantly surprised! Our server, Mary, was great and she had a wonderful smile! In fact, all the staff was very welcoming to everyone. Our food was very good and reasonably priced! No one rushed us and we had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we stopped at the ba
been coming here since I was about 10, worked there when I was 13.. that was long ago, one of the best diners in Philly, ever. An institution, yes, hours have changed, and things have changed, but it's always good, comfy, and welcoming.
Cool lil down home diner... The service was great, there was no wait and the food came out hot and quickly. The Fancy French Toast was sooo good. Thick bread with a hint of sugar. Soft in the middle and crisp on the sides... Sheesh.
A Philadelphia classic. Went often as a kid, returned after a number of years of being away. Will be coming back more often. Solid food, friendly service, and a surprisingly large and tasty selection of baked goods.
Although there was a line to get in the restaurant to be seated, the line moved quickly and the service was awesome! The waitress recommended an awesome Hot Chocolate for adults called the Banana Split....TO DIE FOR!!!!! 🤤 The food was great and my eggs were perfect! 😉
