Everything was so delicious. We had the burrata appetizer, parmigiana pinsa, grigliata di pesce, and the rose water cotta for dessert. Everything was so, so tasty and the service was great. Love that it’s BYOB as other reviewers have mentioned. They have both indoor and outdoor seating - both areas have a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend this place to others. Looking forward to returning!
All the food was delicious. The gnocchi and the fries were outstanding! Service was great. If it could be improved: the bread they served in the beginning was old and not good. The octopus needed a bit more salt or seasoning (and I generally eat less salty foods)
Such great food and service!!!! I literally felt like I was back in Italy. Can’t wait to come back here again and try everything else on their menu ❤️
Grilled octopus and fish. The grilled shrimp were well prepared but not super-fresh. The food generally is v.good. Atmosphere is simple but good.- simplistic. Service was very good for the price range. I will return. (have been twice since summer).
We have taken friends here twice. I have tried the octopus appetizer and, the mushroom appetizer , both delicious. I had the wild boar pasta and the gnocchi, both also excellent. I recommended the first to our friends (who can be food snobs sometimes), and they loved it. The service is great (Luca and Zack). We love it. Bonus, it’s a BYOB (a Philly thing), so, frankly, you save a little money. No corkage fee.
Delicious Italian byob in graduate hospital area. The food is high class which you wouldn’t know looking at the restaurant. It’s in a new Construction building and doesn’t look like this fancy food would be served here. Service was also lovely and super friendly. Pasta plates cost around $15-20, with some $20-30 entrees on the menu.
Loved it! Zack was our waiter and host. He was so polite, very professional, kind and hospitable. I felt like my friends who were visiting from DC/MD and my family felt like VIP. I am sure they treat every guest well but it’s dually noted how much patience they have as a team and patience. We truly enjoyed the special as well and all the 20 diff options we consumed as a family. SPOT ON! Keep up the great work! We will be back.
Walk by everyday and had no idea how good the food is here. I was legitimately blown away. The pasta amatriciana was better than some that I had in Rome. Our waiter said the chef is actually from Rome which is why it was so authentic. The burrata, meatballs, octopus and pastas were incredible. I’ll go as far as saying this is one of the best italian restaurants in the city and rivals Fiorella
Been to L'Anima 3 times now. It's a great Italian BYOB, definitely a sleepy gem in the neighborhood. The outdoor seating is simply perfect for the summer and indoors open and spacious in the winter. The pasta dishes are fresh, with a good mix of seafood and meat choices. On my most recent visit I got their saffron linguine special with crab meat and my GF had chicken cotoletta which was a breaded chicken filet with buratta. The crab meat was so good and there was a lot, the filet was perfectly cooked and the burrata was great too. We love having this place in the neighborhood, def worth a visit.
Excellent BYOB. Clean modern space. Saffron pasta special with crab was delicious. Appetizers were good as well. Our server, Liz, was professional.
Everything was amazing!! I will be back every time I visit Philly
Wow! Can’t say enough good things about this place. Amazing food - we had the gnocchi and the pesto pappardelle which were both delicious. It’s also BYO so you can bring your favorite wine and enjoy the night on the outside patio with great atmosphere. To top it off, the service was spectacular from the waitress to the owner who came in and checked on our table multiple times. This is our new go-to Italian spot for sure!
A wonderful new addition to the Point Breeze & Graduate Hospital neighborhoods! L'anima is a bright and pleasant BYOB tucked into the corner of 17th & Carpenter. The staff was energetic & polite. We started our meal with a couple of appetizers, the swordfish largo skewers and the Arrosticini di Pesce Spada. Both were very good, although I'm not a fan of anchovies, they were easy to pick off the bruschetta and didn't take away from this dish. Our entree's were the Amatriciana and the Reginae. The pasta in the Amatriciana was cooked perfectly. The Reginae pizza could have been more flavorful. Maybe some sweetness or spicy but it needed something to give it a personality. Otherwise, we'll be going back. Hope you enjoy and have fun!
P.S. they don't take AMEX.
Nice at atmosphere and good pasta. There's indoor and outdoor seating as well!
We dined on their large patio to celebrate our anniversary. The early June weather was nice, so most people were eating on the patio, though a few ate inside. If you eat an early dinner, the sun will still be above the buildings, but L'anima has plenty of shade, so it's not a problem. FYI, it's BYOB.
We shared two appetizers and two entrees, which included tasty bronzino, shrimp, grilled octopus, tuno crudo, farro salad, and - last, but not least - squid ink tonnarelli (pasta) tuna. It was all very tasty, but our favorite had to be the squid ink pasta, which had an incredible tomato-based sauce. For more details, see the menu online.
Our server was just right: attentive, but not intrusive. He did the little things right, such as going around me to put a utensil on the left side of my placemat, rather than reaching across in front of me. He was nice.
All in all, I definitely recommend L'anima. I think you'll enjoy everything, esp. the tasty dishes.
Always an amazing time. Gotta love Luca and Rose.
If you haven't been here, you should definitely give it a try! Great food, attentive and professional servers...Julio is the best, cute/pleasant environment, & and immaculately clean!
Given that it is winter, we did not experience the outdoor section. However, the outdoor patio is great especially because it's approaching spring. The restaurant always does a great job decorating and landscaping the outdoors.
Taste and See!
Neighborhood gem. We’ve lived nearby for 15 months and just visited L’Anima for the first time. Food was great. Zach was an amazing and patient server. We will be back.
My wife and I have been here a dozen times and have loved it each time. Everything on the menu is amazing and fresh and really reasonably priced. The servers are all very professional and courteous, yet genuine and nice. The ambience is also really lovely for either a larger group or for a smaller more intimate event. In fact, we held our rehearsal dinner here and the entire staff helped make our dinner party of ~25 people a really memorable experience. It is one of our favorite restaurants in Philly!
