One of the most respected restaurants in my book. The hospitality is beyond genuine and superb! Thank you Radovan Jacovic and your family!

Balkan Express is an unassuming, simple restaurant with excellent food and a friendly staff. The dishes of Yugoslav and Hungarian tradition are mostly unfamiliar to the American guests, but they are of high quality and very tasty. The prices are very reasonable and the selection is more than adequate. The restaurant is definitely worth a try when you are in Philadelphia.

Great spot! From the cozy, homey, old-country-feeling dining room to the warm and friendly charm if the service...you are set up to win before you even order. The food! It’s the only place in Philly where you can get many of the Serbian delicacies that grace the menu. Hearty and delicious! And the best stuffed cabbage I have ever had!

Some of the best smoked meat I've ever had! The stuffed cabbage rolls and bean soup we're also delicious! I also recommend the Turkish coffee & baklava for dessert! 👌👌 I will definitely go back soon!

Have gone here multiple times; a couple of times for the fixed price Christmas dinner and a couple for the regular menu. Always fantastic, always great service! The family that runs the restaurant is so friendly - my best friend is Serbian, and even though she only goes in a few times a year, they remember her every time! Get the Sarma (stuffed cabbage). I never liked stuffed cabbage until I tried the Serbian style; the cabbage is pickled instead of just roasted (or however the "normal" style is done). Everything is completely homemade! Cash only, BYOB.

I absolutely LOVE this place. First and foremost, the owners are amazing people who actually take the time to converse with you and make you feel totally welcome in their restaurant. That is a huge starting point. Then, its the homemade food. Yes, I'll admit, its not the most flavorful, but it makes you just feel amazing and like you're visiting relatives when you eat it...and totally authentic. The salads are perfect, the bread is delicious. This is basically the place I take people to in Philly if I want a nice enjoyable meal, a reasonable price, oh and its BYOB, so you're not spending a fortune on drinks. Just give it a try!

This restaurant is one of my favorites in the city. It's such an experience to come here and really have authentic Balkan food that is amazing. I'm from Croatia myself and I was very pleasantly surprised at the authenticity and quality of food for a really very decent price. I will be bringing big parties to this restaurant again soon.

Really enjoyed it. The host and his son were very nice and polite, the food was excellent. The mixed meat platter for two was done to perfection. Portions were just perfect, my wife and I left feeling very satisfied with the meal. Will definitely go back again, it being the only balkan restaurant in Philly, beats out some of the other balkan restaurants I've tried around other cities.

A very nice little restaurant with good authentic southeastern European food. Neat and clean, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices (cash only), friendly and personable owner-host/server and chef. Pretty much the only southern Slavic restaurant in Philly. We'll be back!

I dine in this restaurant a lot! This is my favorite spot to pass a nice evening. I go there frequently. The food is very good, the staff members are friendly and the payment is fair. I like being in this restaurant to have a rich meal.

Named after a Yugoslavian comedy movie, this place has some good and authentic Balkan food. It's hard to find a decent spot for Balkan cuisine in our area, so I hope this place makes it past this Covid situation.
