I wish we had a place like Irwin’s in NYC (yes I did just say that). The food, service, and atmosphere were unreal.
I visited my friend last weekend, we sat at the bar and were immediately captured by the view and the decor: 360 view of Philly from the 8th floor, elevated schoolhouse look (the building used to be a school).
Dana at the bar was amazing - so warm, funny, and helpful. She even took some pics of us outside on the rooftop.
My favorite bites were the Trofie pasta with mushroom - there was a mushroom broth that was insanely flavorful. The focaccia special that had rosemary and Concord grapes baked in. And the wine was fab.
Come early, stay late. This place has all the things you’ll need.
What a spot. The view, breathtaking. Philly skyline pops and sizzles. The service, quick, friendly and kind. Ordered wine, checked my watch, looked up it was in front of me. The Mezze gave me all the nutrients I needed. It was interesting bc the first bite I always questioned it (taste wise) but then you adjust to the flavour profile and I was invested. Onions in every form. Prosciutto honey fig special, sweet and salty, just how it should be. Plus a lovely aperitif! Go here
Been here several times Food was great. Pasta portions are small for the price. Service is great, the vibe and atmosphere is awesome as well. The dessert was outstanding on two different occasions, props to whoever’s doing the sweets!
Visited Irwin’s with two of my best buddies, while visiting from out of town. The food was exceptional and the service was timely, courteous and warm. We each commented but how the menus descriptions “underclubbed” our overall experience with the food. We tasted 80% of the menu and just loved every bite.
Overall atmosphere was super cool. We got 2 large pasta portions, 2 small pasta portions, and 1 app. Enough to comfortably fill you but overall the sizes were small. For the money you get a lot more food at river twice or zahav.
One of my favorite tasting menus in the city! There's lots of Italian classics with a twist! A wildly impressive pasta and entree selection that has something for everyone!
Roof top service & lovely view of the city
DELICIOUS FOOD! Plates are not large but they are plenty for a few bites of FRESH , GREAT TASTING FOOD! 2 Females & 1 Male , we ate 4 Appetizers, 3 Pastas & tried all 3 ENTREES & 2 Desserts & 2 Mixed Drinks w $60Tip bill was $400! Frankly thought it was well worth it-Loved the funky old high school & graffiti-Happy to see the current use of entire old building! Only problem was Parking it is hard to find because school’s lot is not open to the Restaurant! Sadly forgot to take photos… it was so tasty & we passed everything around! Maybe only a bite or two but all three people tried everything we ordered Forgot we actually got a special bread w peaches too -very good crust on that very yummy bread . Would go back tomorrow but waiting for cooler weather to sit out on roof this next time. Was 95 degrees or more when there at 5pm… too hot for rooftop dinner. Inside with doors open was nice
The staff from front to back was incredible! Extremely friendly, accommodating and everyone legit loves their job there. Food was off the charts FIRE. Mika took great care of us and made all the right recommendations. 10/10 would go back!
I'm a wedding photographer in Philadelphia and one of my couples had their microwedding at Irwin's this past year. What can I say!? It was the perfect intimate space, both indoors and outdoors, for their dinner party wedding. The food was out of this world and the hospitality was top notch. You must get the Gnocchi Sardi and Trofie. And with it being inside of Bok, we were able to use all the other wonderful spaces (gymnasium, auditorium, Machine Shop) for portraits and family photos. If you're looking to have an intimate gathering with amazing food and views, Irwin's is the place!
flavor, Flavor FLAVOR!
I’m a little late to the game, but well worth the wait!
Irwin’s just does it great! Every part of my experience was TOP NOTCH
I was greeted as soon as I walked up.
Once seated, the aroma of everything cookin’ was delish. I was more than ready.
Kristian made great suggestions, not just for a refreshing cocktail, but also for my meal.
I had the Crudo with Watermelon & Basil. All the flavors had me floating. What a great combo!!! That plate didn’t last long. I also had the fennel salad, which was light and lovely. And then the Bucatini with fresh heirloom tomatoes. PERFECT!
I had a great time, and looking forward to getting back real soon!
One of our favorites! Seasonal inspired menu. Great wine and cocktail offerings. Place often has diverse and fashionable crowd - all are welcome by the friendly servers. You’ll be glad you did.
Give my guy Taylor at the front desk a raise! Was so accommodating and super kind. Food was incredible! 10/10 would go again to try different specials. THANKS TAYLOR U ROCK
Definitely enjoyed myself here. The views from the rooftop are amazing. Good was delicious. We sat at the bar and had a great night with the bartender. Well visit again soon!
Irwin’s was good food but BEWARE. If you have over 5 people it’s an automatic tasting menu, which we weren’t made aware until we were ordering. We spent double what we would have, so that left me a little salty.
Rad food to share w/ an awesome view.
We loved the tasting menu! Was great for conversation and to try new things. Mostly everything was delicious and well made. Highly recommend for a nice intimate date. Only issue was where we sat got very dark when it got a little later in the evening.
Irwin's wowed us from start to finish. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was attentive and super friendly. I highly recommend the lamb main course, gnocchi pasta and scallop small plate.
