This is a cash only, take out only, absolute gem of a local staple. I come here every time I’m in Philadelphia. The pizza is solid but the cheesesteak is top notch. The bread is amazing. The steak is juicy. The onions are sautéed to perfection. The cheese is the real stuff, not wiz. 6 stars if I could.
Very good pizza but the cheese steak is the best; my new favorite spot. This place is extremely popular though so expect to wait 45 min to an hr for the food. The long lines you see when you arrive are people waiting for food not people ordering so make sure you go order
I’m a big fan of cheese steaks and have had many in my time. This is the best one by a good margin. Roll is amazing, toasted with sesame seeds. Steak is very flavorful and tender. Amount of cheese is perfect (I usually ask for double - not in this case). Would recommend 10/10.
I heard this spot was a must visit in Philly and it definitely did not disappoint. The cheesesteak made by how they recommend it and the most popular style was absolutely amazing, I wanted another one. Their pizza is also very good and good quality. If you’re in Philly this is a must visit. There is no dining inside and you can only take to go.
Great takeout place for Philly cheesesteak. I got the copper sharp whiz, and I heard I gotta try “long hot whiz”. Definitely next time. They have a good system of taking order and keep the finished hoagies in warm storage.
Angelo’s is CASH and TAKE-OUT ONLY.
I’ve been trying a lot of places for cheesesteaks and pizza and this place has been my number 1 recommendation- so far - out of the places I’ve visited with more to go.
When it’s all said and done- your cheesesteak preferences are personal and you’ll find what’s best for you. BUT — Angelo’s is top-notch!! You will not be disappointed by the pizza or steak sandwiches. I highly recommend trying both!
I’ve tried calling a couple of times to place my order ahead. It’s a hit or miss (mostly miss for me). So, be patient when you go visit - sometimes it can be a wait for your order.
However, they move pretty quickly to get customers in and out. So, it’s not as bad as it seems.
Cheesesteaks and chicken cutlet sandwiches are the best! They make their own seeded rolls-so they taste fresh with good crust, bite, texture and flavor. It’s a roll that holds up well to the juicy steak and red sauce in chicken parm sub. We arrived at 10:40am on a Thursday morning and were 6th in line. By the time They opened at 11:05- (worth the wait) there were 15 people in line. We had a lot of fun talking to people in line about their cheesesteak stories. Food brings people together. When they Opened the doors, 8 of us were greeted and let in to order. There are 2 people at the counter that take your order. The woman that helped us was So friendly, helpful and patient. She gave us great suggestions- The Loaded Chicken Cutlet and to Use Cooper Sharp cheese. The cheesesteak sandwiches were loaded with tender, juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked steak. The cooper sharp cheese was perfect blend of creamy, melty, and tasty. The chicken cutlets are melt in your mouth tender and have great Italian season and garlicky flavor. It took 15 minutes to get our food. They take your name and phone number when you order. You wait outside and they call your name. When your order is ready they call you inside and you pay at pickup CASH ONLY. One of The best cheesesteaks I have ever had. I put sandwiches in a cooler and drove 1 hour home. They were still piping hot! Highly Recommended
One of the best cheesesteaks in Philly! Lots of tasty quality meat. Service was quite slow. They didn't realize our order was finished. After checking twice they looked in the to-go section and found our order. I suggesting pre-ordering online rather than going in person to order. Bring cash as it is cash-only. There's an ATM at the location.
At least every two weeks for me, well worth the wait. I prefer the square pan pie. Everything is awesome, and my cheese steak is with the Coopers cheese.
Philly cheesesteak was on point! The bread was ridiculously good and made everything come together lovely. Also got a margherita pizza which was super tasty. HAVE TO CALL IN TO ORDER because the wait is ridiculous. Also cash only but worth the hassle. Will definitely go back!!
Hands down the best pizza we have had. A bit of a wait but well worth it. Entire family was happy and nothing went to waste. The cheesesteak was delicious too.
Out of the 5 cheessteaks I tried in Philly (here, Pat's, Genos, Pete's, and Ishkabibbles) this one was easily the best! Got it with American and wiz.... perfect combo of fresh bread, seasoned meat, and cheesy ooey gooey greatness! The pizza was top notch and the Italian had great flavor. The wait wasn't bad at all (15 mins)I would try and call ahead if you can. It's cash only and they don't have seating it's more of a grab and go or grab and sit on the stoops outside but worth it! So worth it! If you are in the city it's a must have, you will not be sorry.
Best cheesesteak I’ve ever had. It’s the meat, the amazing cooper cheese, and the sesame seed roll. You must order at Angelo’s, no call ins. And many people were eating on car hoods in front of the store so there is no atmosphere. However we just took back to our car and tucked in to that amazing Sammy. I wish we would have shared 1 sandwich as it’s quite rich. I think 3 people could share 1. But here in America I guess 1 person could eat one themselves. Overall better than any other cheese steak I’ve had -and Philly is my home town.
I had my best Philly cheesesteak sandwich at this spot. The bread was heavenly, the sandwich was light and not overly cheesy, and the portion was ample enough for two people. I highly recommend their steak sandwich. Their pizzas are also amazing! I tried the "grandpa," which is essentially a Margherita. The tomato sauce and cheese were fresh, tasty, and of high quality. The bread was good, but it resembled deep-dish crust. I prefer thinner crust for Margherita pizza. I highly recommend trying this place. Keep in mind that it's a take-out restaurant
Cash only and take out only.
The best Philly cheesesteak in Philly. You order wait come back and pick up your Philly. Pretty simple.
The cheesesteak is delicious with a lot of seasoning on the meat
This steak sandwich travels really well. Bought it and put it in a cooler (with no ice obviously) to retain the heat. Made it 1.5 hours and was still warm. Bread was nearly as good as fresh from the store. Amazing chew to the bread. People are very friendly.
Very delicious cheesesteaks. The best in the city? Not in my opinion. The sesame roll needs to be replaced by an Amoroso, but the flavor of the steak and onions are fantastic; the sesame roll they use has an unusual taste and is a little too hard. Unlike other places, they definitely put a good amount of meat and cheese on because it's extremely filling, so make sure to come on an empty stomach.
The first time I came here I only ordered a cheesesteak with American cheese and fried onions, and that took just under 20 minutes. This was on a Wednesday afternoon at around 4:00 PM. Total cost came out to $14.08 and you pay when you pick the food up, not when you order; one line to place orders and the other for pickups. The second time I came here I ordered two cheesesteaks with extra American cheese and fried onions totaling $33.56. Takeout and cash only. Plenty of free street parking, but can be a hit or miss. Once I came here on a Sunday and had to drive around the block for about 15 minutes to find an empty spot. Staff is friendly and no outdoor dining either.
I’ve heard so many good things about Angelo’s I’ve heard some people say they have the best cheesesteaks in Philly so I came here. I ordered a pizza and a Philly cheesesteak with wiz, peppers and onions. They make their bread in house. The cheesesteak was easily the best I’ve ever had and the pizza was delicious. The prices here are pretty high and the wait is pretty long but well worth it.
The cheesesteak I had here was phenomenal. The bread holds up better than most. I got it with onions, mushrooms, and coopers sharp. Maybe next time I'll add some hot peppers.
Cash only! But they do have an atm
