Green Papaya is a cozy little restaurant with a fantastic menu. Great for a date or dinner with the whole family. I have been enjoying Chef Kim's fine meals for over 20 years. Its the only spot I can have the same entree and it still tastes as delicious as the first time I had it. The menu is very simple to pick from and easy to find something to satisfy your cravings. My go-to is the Green Papaya chicken with the Green papaya salad and a side of the most amazing mushroom soup that still has not been surpassed in taste. Hawaiian chicken or anything she makes with a garlic title is going to be great. If you like carrot cake be warned you will become an addict if you taste that first slice!
Crab cakes were special on the menu tonight! Always good, always fresh cooked.
Incredible food and the best hospitality
The Green Papaya is in a rundown strip mall but don’t let that fool you. If you come for early lunch or early dinner the doors may be locked. Just knock on the door and they’ll let you in. We’ve been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. Everything is always fresh, made from scratch and always very good. If you’re lucky enough to be here on a day that Kim makes crab cakes you must try them too, they’re the best. Not only the best but everything is also very reasonable. The deserts are only $3 and a must. We always order extra soups for freezing and extra spring rolls and chicken satay for snacks.
Kim and Henry go above and beyond to provide amazing food and service. You cannot beat their quality or prices. All of the meat and seafood is tender and cooked to perfection. The serving sizes are perfect. We often don’t eat out because we say we can cook a better meal at home… not at Green Papaya! They are our home cooked meal away from home! Soo good! Best hidden gem in NE philly!
I love this place! My husband and I go here all the time. They have great food, at a good price and excellent service. My favourite thing is their flourless chocolate cake! It's so good, we even bought a whole cake for my birthday & our anniversary. Some of my other favourites include their cream mushroom soup, chicken satay and shrimp scampi, creme brulee; even their warm appetizer rolls are something to remember.
My husband used to eat here with his grandparents and now it's our little date night spot. He even proposed to me here. It's a small family restaurant, but don't be fooled by its appearance; it's a real hidden gem!
I am so so happy what a find. I have passed this place so many times it is hidden in a dark strip mall and is very hard to see from the street. That being said once your inside you will be greeted by to of the sweetest owners. Who serve some of the most delicous food at super reasonable prices. We were able to walk in on a Friday night at 7 oclock and be seated right away. Now the food it was so so good. I had the chicken skewers for appetizers a garden salad and chicken piccante for less then 20 dollars. My wife had Vietnamese egg roll and broiled salmon that she raved about. My daughters had ny strip steak that they said was better then the steaks I make at home. They were grounded until I tried it. Wow that steak was excellent. They also had wonton soups. This whole amazing meal came to 63 dollars for the 4 of us. So dont let look the looks of this place fool you. Check this place out you will not be sorry. Just make sure you leave a table open for us we will be back again and again.
Oh this is also a byob place. Also gooogle showed this place as closed it was indeed open and awesome.
Hole in the wall five star dining. You wouldn't know to pass by but there's great dining going on inside this delapidated strip mall. The owners have been here 35 yrs. Try it.
It so sad to see Green Papaya go, they were one of Philly hidden gem restaurant. Good while it lasted, wish they can still stay open. :(
Kim and Henry always provide great food at very affordable prices with very friendly service. It's always a happy dinner when we eat there
