Amazing service from amazing staff! I enjoyed my breakfast meal at the location. This manager (assuming he was it) recognized that I am Deaf and gestured to learn what I would like. So he added my name to the waiting list. I was seated within 10 mins. The place was super busy but the whole staff was great. I enjoyed the waffle with two pieces of bacon with half avocado as a side.
My brother in law brought my wife and I here.
We didn't have any wait getting in.
The staff was friendly and very attentive. We ordered and our food arrived in a reasonable time.
I ordered the steak and eggs, which was pretty damn good. Wifey had some sort of omelet and she said it was pretty tasty.
If you're in the downtown artsy area of Phoenix definitely pay Matt's a visit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Staying at AC Marriott Bonvoy, it was a 12 min walk here. Looking for semi traditional diner breakfast and this one was just right. Service & atmosphere were great. Food pretty good. Oatmeal was a little on the warm, not hot side but it was good. Apple Chicken Sausage didn't have too much Apple flavor but was good/hot. If your interested in a pleasant and filling breakfast/lunch spot downtown AZ please visit here and give them a try 😉 you'll find something you want!
Listed as a side for many dishes, do not sleep on the potatoes. They come with most of the breakfast dishes and it is amazing. It comes with cheese, meat, rosemary, and a few other ingredients. It's very good.
My daughter enjoyed the chili. (It has a slight kick to it.) My wife loved the special scramble. The "Five Spot Platter" was a delicious breakfast sandwich with the potatoes on the side.
For a refreshing drink, get the bottomless iced tea. It's not sweet and unique tasting.
First time here, and an honest review.
Service: Top tier. Staff is kind and attentive.
Atmosphere: Its cute. Small, layout with a bar style and small dining area. Not many 4 people tables, but they could push the 2 seaters together for a bigger party.
Food: Excellent fresh squeezed OJ. And I love that they have bottomless hot coffee for under $4.00, its their own beans.
The pancakes are rated a 8/10. Fluffy and light, big and had a nice flavor.
Eggs were over scrambled, dense but made up in flavor.
Sausage was good authentic pork.
Hasbrowns were pretty good. They hit the mark on the crunch but lacked a bit of flavor.
Homefries were 5/10. They had flavor, but they were big chunks and kinda soft.
The avocado toast was 10/10 for us. The toast was absolutely delicious, the avocado was fresh, and the microgreens were perfect.
Overall, I would come back for a 7/10.
Plenty of good menu items, enjoyed the salami scramble. My second choice would have been the avocado toast but after seeing it the next table over I'm glad I didn't order it, looked like a salad on top of toast.
My only disappointment was with the lack of sweet n low or french vanilla creamer for the coffee which was otherwise good. Limited parking in the lot but found an open spot and almost no wait for a table
I visited here today with a girlfriend. I got the waffle and bacon with a side of eggs and the raspberry honey lemonade. My friend had the Hog and chick with a strawberry honey lemonade. Everything was delicious and served hot. I love Matt's! I will definitely be back!
Highly recommend! Atmosphere and staff are super nice. I love how this place is managed!
Food is really good. It is always busy and it is a very good sign!
Talk about a BIG breakfast. Stopped in for some brunch. We definitely got that! Great food, amazing burrito of the breakfast variety.
Will have to come back for the hash browns!
Hadn’t been here in a while but it was great to go back and see the spot as reliable as ever!
Had a basic omelet with hash browns and avocado. Delicious!! My buddy had the Grains, Greens, and Beans and he said he’d give it a four-five stars so I rounded up!
Great service too! Thank you all 🙏
Loved the food, love the ambiance, & loved the service. Staff were attentive. I like the artsy vibes, & the food was delicious! I had The Hog & Chick. The portions were filling! I love this place!
Awesome breakfast spot with made from scratch foods. My husband and I split the Hog and Chick and added a slice of toast. It was more than enough and we both left satisfied! Our plate came with 2 scrambled eggs, 4 pieces of thick cut bacon, hash browns, and thick cut toast with homemade blueberry jam.
First time traveling to Arizona and gave this spot a shot … amazing. I am a bacon man… and REALLY hate it when they give you thin pathetic strips.. Matt’s got it right… huge thick THREE strips with the meal… potatoes were so big and tasty … food was awesome. Server was completely friendly… everything was quick .. and price was great!
The breakfast is big! Puts other breakfast places to shame. Bacon was thick and crispy. Potatoes were like my grandma made, with sautéed onions and rosemary. Service was fantastic! The employees are hard working and genuinely seem happy about being there. Highly recommend!
I got the Five Spot Platter with hashbrowns. It was good even though it wasn’t hot when I received it. I look forward to eating there in person.
Part 2: I went for breakfast in person on day 2 and it was even more amazing. I got the Hog & Chick with a short stack of griddlecakes. Everything thing was absolutely delicious. Probably the best pancakes I’ve ever had.
Do you want elevated diner food? This is the spot. Even if you’re just ordering sausage, eggs, toast, and potatoes, they’re all so much more delicious than they should be. The pancakes are hot off the griddle and as fluffy and buttery as you could hope for. This is an Arizona staple breakfast joint and there’s no question why. Thanks Matt!
The food was ok…we just didn’t care for the seasoning. Service was quick. We ended up sitting crammed into the back next to the restrooms, employee closet, and a weird server order station. Definite seemed like they were just trying to get in as many tables as possible. It was noisy and overcrowded, IMO.
