This place has been on my Phoenix Foodie Bucket List for years now, and I finally got a chance to go. I absolutely LOVED my meal at the Larder + the Delta. We went just before the Beyonce concert and it was such a good, filling meal to have before dancing the night away. The staff was so friendly and very quick to assist. I LOVED the fried chicken skins. It was covered in a slight glaze of orange, lavender type of honey. I also had the gulf shrimp and grits, and it was amazing. The shrimp was a nice big size, the grits were creamy, and the hot sauce was a perfect blend of spice and flavor. My friend had the Blackened Mississippi Catfish, but I didn't take pictures of it - though it was very good (I snuck a bite). And we also had the Hot Water Corn Bread with a whipped honey butter. At first, I thought by the look of it and the first bite, it was kinda shortbread-ish but it was just a perfectly, non-messy consistency/not crumby but still crumbly (if that makes sense). It was very, very good and the whipped butter was not overwhelmingly sweet - just the perfect complement to the corn bread. The ambiance was clean and chill. Just a lovely time at this restaurant and would highly recommend. I will say that the parking might be a bit difficult to find because you are in downtown Phoenix where it's limited to street parking or valet, so highly recommend Uber or rideshare for convenience of getting in and out.

I stayed overnight at the FoundRE last time I had a commitment in Phoenix. I picked the hotel because of it's proximity to the larder + the delta. Yes, it's that amazing, a must stop when I have an evening in Phoenix. Make a reservation if you can, if not you may be able to grab an open spot on the patio. The menu is updated frequently, the hoppin jon was the best version of this dish I've ever had!! Shrimp and Grits also a must, the Gumbo (of course). Go, just go, whatever you order you'll dream about until the next time you return. 😁

Came here for the AZ restaurant week after we were impressed by the Super Bowl wings picked up order. The staffs and the chefs were very friendly. They also mentioned that they changed the menu very frequent to showcase the Southern cuisine. There are the patio seatings available. For the restaurant week menu, fried chicken skin was my favorite. It was crispy and well seasoned. However, Berkshire pork chop and Ethiopian fried chicken were a bit too dried. I might come back here again for the rotating menu.

Date night at this place and it was so special! Rich southern food! Restaurant has cool artwork and open to the outside with patio seating. Would recommend the chicken skins appetizer, catfish and cauliflower dish and the hoppin John (especially if you like southern food). I wish there was a bigger cocktail menu to go with all the delicious dishes! And our side dish came out before our entree but everything is made to order so the timing of that made it come out later. Would definitely recommend for a date night or even a night out with friends, casual dining with elevated dishes.

This restaurant is fantastic, the food and drinks are unique, inspired, and delicious from beginning to end. My only feedback is that the online reservation system requires a deposit fee up front, which is noted as a fee that should be deducted from your bill. But I think they forgot to deduct it from mine! It's all good, though, wasn't on purpose, errors happen đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

One of the best restaurants in Phoenix. Amazing beautiful food, lovely relaxed atmosphere, kindly service. Some old faves on the menu and some ever changing new amazing dishes. I wish I could eat here every single day. It might almost be worth going broke for. Since I can’t leave another review - I’ll update this one - June 2023. Had another amazing dinner here a couple months ago, and now enjoying brunch as I type. Wowza. A knockout all around. Great with a group, or by yourself. They’ll take care of you either way.

Made a reservation and enjoyed our delicious meal on the comfy patio. The restaurant has a small menu with plenty of vegetable forward options. The cauliflower was excellent, as was the hop rice dish. Every menu item we tried was thoughtful and offered surprises mixed in with the southern cuisine favorites. I’d return promptly! Our server was incredibly kind, relaxed, and very helpful. Well done & compliments to the chef!

More delicious than ever. Love the new Portland on the Park location! Chef Jones is a master with southern food. You have to order the hot chicken/biscuits and the cauliflower, at least. The prices will let you taste a lot of things. I don't know how they make the chicken so tender and crispy. Bravo! Full bar and open for Sunday brunch too.

The quality & originality of the dishes at The Larder + The Delta is consistently amazing. I’ve enjoyed items ranging from Crispy Ribs to Buffalo Cauliflower to Pimiento to Cheese and more- and never have I been disappointed. Chef Jones & his crew have the gift of combining just the right spices & flavor combos to really make the meal memorable. Best of all, the atmosphere is always welcoming, best enjoyed while sitting at the counter with friends and relaxing over a superb meal!

This was recommended to me by a chef colleague and I was not disappointed! It is a small place and I can see why they ask you to guarantee as not a lot of seats. The design is modern industrial but the staff are engaging and create the warmth - along with the open kitchen! (Do you need warmth in Phoenix??) I was gutted when told that they only had swordfish and steak left as neither are foods I like. The chef managed to create a fried chicken dish for me. Whilst I wait I had the collared greens (bit of a kick to them) and then the cabbage (1/4 of a head on a base of purĂ©e cauliflower). Wow. Not miserly portions but decent, so glad no starter! The fried chicken was rich in flavour and the meat tender under the crispy skin. The plantain pain perdu was like a plantain banana bread with cashew cream. The cream helped balance the ‘weight’ of the bread. Jonas was on the spot and thank you for looking after me. This place was out of my way, but glad I made the trip! When getting a Lyft/Uber, the unit is #1 so watch as you may drive past it!

Service was excellent— friendly, attentive, and professional. Atmosphere was warm (both figuratively and literally! It’s an open kitchen.) It wasn’t that busy when we went on a Saturday night but it was still kind of loud in there, and we couldn’t hear each other on occasion, so be mindful if you’re trying to take a date there. My friend and I had the catfish and the chicken skin and both were delicious! The chicken skin was diviiiine, so flavorful and the perfect texture. This was my first time having catfish so I can't compare, but it was flavorful and had the softest melt-in-your-mouth texture. Service was excellent— friendly, attentive, and professional. So glad we chose to eat here!

I never thought of myself as an expert in knowing what taste good or not. However, I spend a lot of money on the culinary expense and I love talking about food! Which makes me a proud foodie thru and thru. I will forever be a Stan when it comes to well executed and ambitious culinary experiences. The Larder and The Delta holds a dear place in my heart
and belly that will never be beaten. At this small, unassuming gem located in my hometown Downtown Phoenix (#sunsin4), they are delivering culinary excellence and I stan for every dish they serve (both brunch or dinner)! If you are ever in downtown Phoenix and wanting something delicious to eat and drink, I implore you to stop by this black-owned resturaunt and jump into the culinary experience. What to try? Don’t worry
I got you: — Lemon Ricotta Pancakes which is cooked to southern pancakes perfect with the crispy, thick edges and decadent syrup which plays a great culinary melody in tandem with the dollop of zesty and creamy lemon ricotta. It’s a quick song because it’s so damn delicious so be sure to get an extra side of lemon ricotta. Every time I experience this dish it takes me into a nostalgic vortex which drops me back to how I felt every time I had my mother’s pancakes when I was young. ProTip: this place is small and the people of phoenix really champion this gem, so be sure to get make reservations. Their cocktail program is legit and I find myself trying a new delicious cocktail every time I visit.

Been a big fan of Chef Jones for years, especially his hot chicken and Buffalo cauliflower. Great ambiance, right off Roosevelt. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
