My dad has been raving about this place and trying to get me to visit, and finally, I did. What I discovered was an absolute gem of an authentic Mexican restaurant. It may not catch your eye from the outside, but the moment you step through its doors, you’re in for an extraordinary experience.

Great authentic Mexican food and restaurant. You might be surprised if you haven't eaten here. From the outside appearance to the inside. Go try them out. I wasn't sure about it. And I was wrong. Food is delicious. Made fresh.
Enjoy a quaint atmosphere, that hints with a foggy memory, not quite yours but still at the edge of a memory of forgotten time when breakfast was a family extravaganza of delicious aromas and breath taking bites of home made food... it was an unforgettable moment with each breath and exhale with one more bite....
Authentically great! Great food, service, and environment. Definitely, a place you have to check out for yourself. If your eye causes you to think double walking in, then allow your nose to guide you to an explosion of flavors.
Great authentic Mexican food! We were visiting from Canada and the waitress was so helpful in helping us with the menu. We tried her suggestions the Molcajete Mexicana and the House specialty. We were not disappointed the food was delicious and made fresh, including the tortillas.
La Barquita has excellent Mexican food and great service. My daughter had her graduation dinner at La Barquita for 25 people. We booked a few months before, so we did not feel rushed. They made special menus for her graduation with her name on them. In the end, only about 20 showed up. After the commencement ceremony, we called the restaurant to see if we could show up a couple of hours sooner. They were able to accommodate us. The whole staff was lovely. Tere was our waitress. She was amazing!!
We asked the hotel staff for their favorite Mexican place in pheonix and they all recommended LA Barquita. The menu had options for everyone and the food was second to none, even my neighbors from Mexico. The margaritas and molcajete was my choice and perfectly cooked with amazing spices.
The BEST molcajete de Camarones ever! It always comes out fresh and delicious every single time. Most importantly chips n salsa are BOMB! Today I had the chipotle camerones and it was good. I will be going back to the molcajete but I forced myself to try something new. One thing that doesn’t change is the service, it is always on point. No one talks about tea but here it is so good and fresh one day I will try the agua de piña it just sounds refreshing. The tables are small and you will mostly likely have to wait but you will not regret it!!
Great little restaurant if you are looking for authentic mexican cuisine. Food is really good and you get a great amount for the price. We felt that the staff pays a lot of attention to how every meal is prepared and would love to come back again.
This is small restaurant with food that is big on flavor. Service staff were friendly and welcoming. Our food arrived hot and mine sizzling because I ordered the Pork Carnitas fajitas. Since most of us eat first with our eyes the food presentation was so on point that I had sternly stop everyone from eating so I could take pictures. My family loved the homemade hot chocolate and the agua frescas were to everyone's liking also. Make sure you are ready to eat when you dine here because the main dish is on the large size with addition of rice and beans. Overall great food with flavor to match.
Unassuming Mexican eatery to serve delicious birria, menudo and molcajete. It was my first time to have molcajete, similar to fajitas, but the meat came out in large pieces in a stone bowl. Both the steak and chicken were tender and full of flavor. The grilled cactus was crunchy and yummy, wish there were more! The service was great too. The waitress was very patient to explain every single dish to us. Love this place and glad we came here before flying back to NYC!

The ambiance and food were excellent.
Parking was a little tight right up against the restaurant but ample on the side facing the fast food place next door.
I like that there was a good variety. Other members of my party could have ordered an American meal if they felt less adventurous, but they didn't, we got ALL Mexican dishes.
Most interesting was the baked cactus leaf. It was tangy and very much like a pickle without the crunch.
The fish tacos were excellent and made with seasoned baked fish, very nice.
He musicians came to each table to ask if we wanted a song. Any thing more than $5 is too high, but they're artists, so we paid and they sang a lovely song. It may have been for the holiday, but maybe they perform regularly?
Will stop here again before we leave.
Yet again! The experience just gets better and better and I love coming here. I've been coming here for the past years and they have yet to fail my expectations. The food is cooked to perfection and the service, wait time, and atmosphere is amazing!! Come and try the food you won't regret it

This place is legit! Rated high for authentic Mexican food for good reason! Food is delish!!!! We got there 1st thing in the morning and I'm glad we did because if we came any later we'd be standing in a line outside waiting for a table to open up. There was pretty much a line all morning, so you know the place is good.
Service was quick. Staff were nice. Decor was interesting and certainly suited for shorter people...lol.
Next time I'm in Phoenix I'm coming back to LA Barquita!!!!!
