This is a perfect hidden gem for delicious Tunisian food. I never tried it before. The owners are very welcoming and nice people. I tried chicken shawarma the first time with my colleague and loved it. The spices are just perfect to leave your taste buds with authentic homemade food. I went back within couple days to try something new and am just blown away with the lamb sausage (merguez) dish. It came with fresh bread. I am very much in love with this restaurant and will try all the items in their menu in coming days. Thumbs up!!!
My first time having Tunisian food and I was definitely not disappointed. Owner is a very nice and sweet woman. Always making sure my friend and I were happy. Great service and great food!!!! Will definitely go back again!!!
This is exactly the kind of restaurant Phoenix badly needs: good, unpretentious, comforting food, from a region that, as far as I know, isn't represented anywhere else in Arizona. It's inside a crappy strip mall in a part of town I would rather stay away from (no offense to the West Valley), but that just means the rent is low. I got the lamb couscous and suggest you also get something with couscous, because it is fluffy and delicious and sits in your stomach happily. The lamb was tender and the salad that came with it was simple and refreshing (there was also way too much of everything, but I ate it all anyways). My wife's chicken dish was also grilled perfectly. The rosewater and almond drinks were weirdly pleasant to my Western palate. I hope to come here many times and try everything else (they have shwarma, for instance). Please support them, not out of guilt for another fledgling ethnic restaurant (although God knows we should have more of them) but because it is simply excellent food.
I visited about two weeks ago with my friend and his mom and the owner who ran the restaurant all by herself was kind and very very generous. Food was superb and my friend wanted to come back at her invitation. We were sad to learn today that the restaurant had closed down. We would like to wish the owner and her family the very best no matter where in the future world she chooses to be.
Our son-in-law is Tunisian and he (and our daughter) recently took us to Habbouz for dinner. Of course, he knew everything one needs to know about Tunisian cuisine; however, we learned that the food is so exceptional that you do not need to know anything about Tunisian cuisine to have an extraordinary experience. Our group ordered dishes which were progressively from mild to spicy so that we all got to try a variety of dishes. The strip mall where Habbouz is located is nothing fancy, but the restaurant itself is beautifully appointed, and the owners make you feel like you are part of their family. This is a restaurant that everyone in the Greater Phoenix area should visit!
Had Ajja Merguez, a highly and wonderfully flavorful curry of home made sausages and eggs. The curry was very flavorful and sausages were amazing too.
Excellent service, a very friendly set of people.
Altogether, a truly 5 star experience.
Awesome food owners are the best I recommend the ojja marguez and they have the best baklava I've ever had
This is my favorite place to eat! The women here are wonderful! The food is amazing!
I would give them 10 stars if I could. The food was made from scratch and was delicious.
Food is great. Lady who cooks and serves the food is very sweet.
