We were just visiting in Phoenix and stumbled upon this place, and it was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. There was a very generous amount of barbacoa, and all of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Their salsa also tastes very authentic, and their queso has a very nice flavor. The servers were very friendly, though they seemed overwhelmed.

This Venue has revived downtown for people like myself who grew up in the area.Since the reopening of Paz Cantina, I've been curious to see what it would be like. Joanna is still the muscle in the kitchen and seems to be flexing all over downtown. In an area where Aaron Chamberlin(Phx Public Market, Tacos Chelo) , Doug Robson(Gallo Blanco, Otro Cafe) and Michael Babcock(Welcome Diner) have reigned supreme, and with the closing of DeSoto Market, Paz Cantina has dominated the area by sheer size. Come visit Nubia in the Café for delicious coffee. You can also either have a a sit down dinner or watch a game on the patio or one of the two bars while enjoying Joanna's creations....or you can go in and enjoy free live music whilst being served your adult libations via Venus and Lauren. Being a Latino man who loves living and experiencing his culture and who grew up in the area when it was dominantly hispanic neighborhoods as well as an impoverished area, I am extremely pleased to have a place like Paz Cantina in the hood. I can't say enough about how elated I am to have a place where I can experience food, music and the culture I grew up loving and taking pride in. It's beautiful to see so many people enjoying what we grew up in. When you visit, you're gonna see Alan, the owner, in the background running around taking care of all the minute details to ensure everyone has a memorable experience.
Side Note: If not for Pete Garcia's (whom I loved and admired) failed Mercado, none of this would've been possible.
Good “gourmet” street tacos. Friendly staff but service can be improved a bit with checking in on guests. Nachos are amazing. Liquid cheese and amazing with the chorizo. Fresh tasting ingredients
Delicious food, great music, vibe and prices are reasonable and did I mention food was DELICIOUS. La Chica Torta is a MUST!!!! AJ is an amazing waiter very friendly.
Second trip here. Each time I see different aspects of the charm. Tacos are tasty, margaritas are good and the walls are covered in artwork/murals. Jessica at the bar was friendly and we had a great conversation. Good staff, good food, good environment.
I went here for Lunch with colleagues. It was very good but service was a bit slow. Paz also had a limited beer selection. The space was painted nicely and the atmosphere was fun.
I’m not from the area and everyone has been hospitable and the food is delicious! I make a stop here every time I am in town!
Fun atmosphere and friendly service. I took my 6 year old nephew here for brunch and he loved the table games and the large TVs to watch soccer.
We requested a children's portion of the Tres Leches French Toast and the kitchen initially forgot about it. Because of this they gave it to us for half off and I suppose it was worth the wait because my nephew LOVED it! He cleaned his plate and still wanted more lol. So kudos to Paz Cantina.
As a side note, I wouldn't always recommend to bring a child to this "bar" area side of restaurant but on a Sunday afternoon if your child is cool like my nephew they could enjoy it too 😎
Customer service is very good, food is very good, I definitely recommend this place.

Stopped in for a weekday lunch and found the staff, ambiance, and food to be delightful. I had the kale tacos and rice and beans and everything was delicious with well-balanced flavors. I'm not always a big onion fan but the pickled onions they serve on these tacos are great. They look to have an interesting selection of cocktails. The staff are rock stars.
The food is great. The drinks are delicious. I prefer the service inside the restaurant, but at the bar. There are only like 8-10 chairs, so don't expect to find a seat during happy hour at the bar.. The servers are a hit or miss. Some are on top of it, others don't come around enough which is why I love to sit at the bar. We tried sitting at the Venue side which has a full bar, but not even one server which is kind of inconvenient. Overall it is a good place for lunch or dinner!!
I have been to this place time and time and time again, and only have good things to say. The staff has always been friendly, and the food is always delicious. Most recently I called ahead for a group of 8 and was pleasantly surprised we had a place reserved in a more private nook (nice and cool to beat this horribly hot weather, too!). Servers were attentive and always giving refills + taking drink orders. My friends loved it as well. Whether on a 1x1 outing or wanting to get together with a group, I recommend this place :) P.S. their tortas are awesome!
