We love Spice Island Tea House. We always get the tea leaf salad, Pad Thai and Vegetables and chicken with signature Ruby Red Sauce. All the food is cooked to perfection. More than five stars. We also get the coconut cake and ice cream. You have the best Thai food in Pittsburgh. Thanks!!!
My favorite restaurant ever. So small and cute! A little hole in the wall you have to try if you like Thai!!
My favorite restaurant Love the food and the people.Miss the Rangoon Night Market Noodles!

Love this place and specifically the pad Thai!!! I've come here when I'm in town for the last 20 years!
Awesome menu! Great selection of Pan Asian food. All items marked for GF and V!
Love this place, was treated like royalty by the waitstaff and they were excited about the menu which is always inspiring.
Best thai restaurant I have ever been to and I've visited quite a few. They also have a great selection of tea and most of their dishes can be served vegan. MY FAVORITE PLACE!!!!
Best pad thai around. Addictive thai tea. Cheap eats too!
The best place to work to eat to laugh!
Most amazing food ever!! Tons of choices. Fantastic service!!
A recent delivery which will likely become a new staple. The food here is very good and the online menu makes ordering plant based super easy and straightforward. We basically ordered a solid sampling of dishes and shared them. They were all good. The iced green tea hit the spot on a hot day.
Tofu pad thai was spot on (and very big portion), as was the coconut cake, truly amazing.
Hands down, the best food in Pittsburgh. I ate there regularly when I lived in the burgh and went back on recent trip with my kids (12 &16). My kids are used to a variety of foods as we live in Seattle. Their reviews were "suburb" (from the 12 yr old who ordered a veggie dish) and "the best food we had on the whole trip" (16 yr old who ordered tofu). I see lots of comments in here about it not being "authentic enough"-- sheesh guys, you are in Pittsburgh!! Pittsburgh. Ron is a lovely dude (owner) and anyone thinking of stopping by should stop "thinking" and just go enjoy some stunning food.
Make sure you get the samosas, I dream about them.
Perfect place for lunch, my favorite dishes are the slow cooked curries and the Burmese coconut chicken noodle soup (pictured). Their drink selection is also very good.
So many vegan options! Easy to veganize some dishes as well.
Online ordering was easy. To make a dish vegan (if possible) select “vegan” from the drop down menu when you click on the dish you want. Not all dishes can be made vegan.
I’ve had the pad Thai several times so today I wanted to try something new.
The Burmese tea leaf salad was incredible. Make sure to select “vegan” if you need to. It’s made with fish sauce and little shrimps otherwise. It reminded me of coleslaw. I loved the consistency and the taste. I could have eaten the whole thing myself!
The vegan superfood green curry was good. There was a warning label on it that says it’s very spicy and the spice level can’t be adjusted. It honestly wasn’t very spicy. Maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10. I wasn’t crazy about it. I like eggplants in green curry and there wasn’t any in this dish. I opted for the addition of tofu because I really like the tofu here. I also swapped coconut jasmine rice for the white rice based on the suggestion of another review. Good idea. Worth the extra charge.
The picked salad was ok. Not good, not bad. Glad I tried it to try something new but wouldn’t order it again. It’s already vegan and you can select a small or large size.
The jasmine iced tea was refreshing.
They have soy milk for Thai iced coffee and tea. I wanted to try these but can’t handle the caffeine.
Great staff, amazing food, and approved by my SG friend! Great flavors and everything was cooked very well!
Haven't been back for a few years as I moved away, but this place is great. The Burmese semolina cake is a standout, as is the roti. Prices are on the higher end for Pittsburgh, but the ambiance and service is good. Menu items vary in terms of quality; look at reviews for the standouts. Thai food is not the star here.
The Java fried rice is the best. Singapore Kway Teow was really good too.
Many unique selections. I usually get the gado-gado salad with peanut dressing. Always good very consistent. Prices are reasonable.
As a visitor of Pittsburgh, this place stole my heart. This hole in the wall restaurant makes some really wholesome food. We had the Java Fried Rice and the Fish Curry Noodles (Mohinga). My goodness, every bite was heaven. The fried rice was my personal favorite of the two. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Very authentic feeling food. If you're looking for Thai/Malay food, this is your spot!
This is one Restaurant I wish I could have taken with me when I left Pittsburgh many years ago. Your Food is delicious!!! This Restaurant is a treasure and will be missed.

Tried a Java Fried Rice. Added more chilli paste. It was good. I would buy it again or recommend it to another person. A person who likes spicy food would enjoy more.
Been craving Thai and omg I got takeout tried one vegetable samosa and mmmm. This foods going to be bomb.
I cannot believe I didn’t discover this gem until after I moved out of Oakland. The food is wonderful. I love their extremely detailed and well labeled menu. It is very clear what is available gluten free or as a vegan option. The ginger salad, Red Basil Curry, Pad Thai, and Green Curry are my go to dishes minus the fish sauce and eggs. The staff are efficient. They also offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash.
I have gone here almost weekly for the past few months and have never had anything but a delicious experience.
This is a great little spot with outstanding food and the menu is diverse enough that I always have trouble deciding what to get.
Delicious meal and attentive staff. Very cozy and pleasant atmosphere. No parking or anything but very easy to walk to from anywhere in Oakland. Huge variety of loose tea both hot and cold available. They also have various other SE Asian drinks such as Thai Tea and coconut pop. Very unique options compared to other places; not Chinese or Japanese but SE Asian cuisine. There are also well known favorites such as pad thai.
