I came in one evening for dinner… they were moderately busy, but I found a spot at the bar. Service was quick and they have a decent menu filled with the typical Mexican-American dishes. They start with chips & salsa and I asked if they had a hot salsa, which they brought me. The hot was very flavorful, but he didn’t tell me it was $1.99; I found out when I got the bill.
I opted for their pick three and selected a beef burrito, a roja enchilada with chicken and a verde enchilada with beef. The beef was decent, it’s ground and didn’t have a lot of flavor, but it was fine. The chicken was better, even though it didn’t have much flavor also, it had a better texture. The burrito was decent, but the enchiladas were much better. The tomato sauce on the burrito tasted almost like an Italian tomato sauce.
Overall, It was decent.
We went around 5:45pm it was pretty crowded. We were seated immediately & a couple minutes later we were given tortilla chips & salsa while we decided what to order. We immediately put in an appetizer order for the grilled chicken nachos(apps are 1/2 off for happy hour:) the nacho were delicious, fresh & flavorful! I ordered the fajitas with the chicken, shrimp, steak & chorizo. Huge portion & delicious! My husband ordered the grilled burrito with steak, he really enjoyed it. It also cam with a little side salad that was so refreshing & citrusy. The manager came & checked on us a few times also. This place is great we will be back very soon!
Best Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh. Hands down. I have been going to the location in Mt. Lebanon for a few years now. Meand my wife are foodies and we love trying different places. But for Mexican food, no other place we have gone to matches the quality and affordability as Totopo. The enchiladas my favorite but on this recent trip I got the fish tacos and I will be getting those again for sure. This place is a must try.
Absolutely zero complaints about Totopo. The service was fantastic - great from everyone involved. The food was delicious and we could not stop eating it! The entire restaurant was beautifully decorated and we cannot wait to go back!
Had a great time! Pictured is a combo I ordered: Southern Tamale + Northern tamale + Chile relleno
The chile relleno was hands down my favorite one (first plate). The banana leaf southern tamal (left) was so much tastier than the northern corn leaf one (right), but both were really good. The red rice and refried beans were on point.
I had an horchata drink which was incredibly authentic and delicious!
We had hot corn chips (totopos) with mild red salsa while deciding what to order.
The staff was super friendly, and they had excellent Spanish! a pleasant surprise. The whole vibe and music made it feel so authentic. I wish I had taken more pictures
👌 ❤️ Totopo is perfect! I recommend dining in. I always get the same thing: shrimp enchiladas which are a 10 and my fiancé gets the Topochanga burrito. Delicious!
Our favorite spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. Offering a relaxed and cozy environment, you’ll immediately feel at home! The drowned burrito is the go to and is so tasty. They offer several fillings and multiple dishes. Salsa and queso are excellent! They also have an open bar! 10/10 and highly recommend! We do both dine in and to go, always hot and fresh!
Nice place to come to for delicious tacos and drinks. Staff is super friendly.
Great experience! First time here, it's Taco Tuesday AND it's Happy Hour. Look out! I had 2 tacos, steak and carnitas. They were pretty good, I like the shells. Steak and pork were well cooked. Guac was good. I did manage a photo of the chips and salsa, and one of my, um.. 2 margaritas.. come and see!
The food here is so authentic! I don’t remember our server’s name but she did a great job. The ambiance is stellar and they sing happy birthday songs in Spanish! This is a very Latinx-friendly location. A LOT of the staff in general is very friendly and speaks fluent Spanish.
Regarding the food, my fiancé made me come here because of the fiesta rice lol. She said that the apple cider margarita was one of the best margaritas she’s ever had. My favorite thing was the shredded chicken they use in their tacos, burritos, etc. it’s fantastic - dense and very juicy. That’s some of the most shredded chicken I’ve had in my whole life.
The best Mexican food I’ve ever had!!! If you’re in Pittsburgh, you have to visit this restaurant. Everything I ordered was so delicious. I was wondering what Choripollo Asado was so I ordered it just to try it. Based on the reviews, people highly suggested to get this dish. They are absolutely correct!! Guacamole was very fresh, but a little acidic for me. It just needs a little less lime I think. The Salsa is so fresh and the best. The chicken taco salad was the best one I’ve ever had. The lime cilantro vinaigrette dressing is perfect. It’s not so over powering. I’m so glad I tried this salad. The part that I like about this taco salad is the shell at the end. It’s tasty, crispy and not hard. I like to dip the shell in Salsa sauce. The Tres Leche cake was so delicious according to my son. He was smiling when I asked him how his cake was 😄He rarely smiles, so that’s a good sign 😁The flan was good too, I was just so full so my son finished the rest. He said the flan was delicious too with a big smile on his face.
The food is very good, very tasty. Many choices. Service was really good, Juan took good care of us. Late lunch on a Sunday that the Steelers were playing, we had this place almost to ourselves. The separate bar area has TVs you can watch the games. Would definitely visit again. Prices were fair for the food received. Highly recommend enchiladas verde and the fried ice cream!! Tip: The parking is free on Sunday.
Really good fried ice cream. All enjoyed their dinners. Food was fresh. Will definitely return. Good service as well.
Fantastic authentic food and super-fast service. I told the waitress we wanted to be done in a 1/2 hour and they brought our orders out very quickly. Also reasonable prices and a great neighborhood full of shops.
Really outstanding Mexican cuisine. Everything we ordered came out very fast and was delicious. Our waiter was excellent and made our experience very enjoyable. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Pittsburgh.
If you are looking for great Mexican food look no further! The food was outstanding and just what we were craving.
Not to mention the beautiful decor, professional & friendly servers, AND the perfect house margarita all together making this place a 10/10!!
My favorite Mexican cuisine in Pittsburgh! The service is always great. The atmosphere is very pretty. A couple of my favorite dishes are the Chile Relleno, and fajita quesadilla. You can’t go wrong picking any favored entrée though! This is a also a great place for cocktails especially margaritas, and Paloma’s!
