Was really surprised how nice this small family owned restaurant was for dinner. Cute place inside. Very nice table settings. Casual to a little more casual elegant. The food and service was perfect. We split the appetizer platter. Was very good especially the zucchini. 3 types of Chef Borek and falafel. The main course was excellent. I had the lamb kebob and the lamb was delicious and very tender. Like small cubes of fillet. Served with a salad and rice or a pasta. Salad was delicious and the rice was tender and buttery. My wife had the lamb adana, tender and very well made. Dinner also served with a basket of pita bread. Our dessert was kazandi and was like a flan creme brulee, it was also very good. Our server was Sercan. We take our time to eat and his service was perfect. Byob with no corkage and dinner pricing very reasonable for the high quality. We will be regulars for this fine restaurant. Looking forward to trying other dishes even though the lamb is so delicious. Highly recommended and so happy we tried this place.
Great place. They were super nice and the place was very clean. I had never had lamb before, but I like to try new things. I ordered the lamb kabobs, Turkish pasta, and salad. It was so good! The lamb was tender and so flavorful. When the water asked how things were, I told him how good it was and it was my first time eating lamb. When we were done we asked for boxes and he said no, I will box it up for you. So he boxed and bagged our food for us and then he surprised us with a dessert. He said he couldn't let us leave without trying it. He told us his grandmother comes and makes the desserts. It was so good, even being stuffed we had to eat it because it was so delicious. We will definitely go back to this restaurant. The staff, the place and the food were all 5 stars.
What an amazing experience! I went to Turkish Grille today for lunch. Amazing Turkish food! I felt like I was in Turkey eating. Everything was prepared from scratch and fresh. I had Mücver, Haydari and Patlıcan Ezmesi for meze and, Adana Kebap for the main course. All DELICIOUS! It was the best Adana Kebap I have ever had! Had "Kazandibi" for the dessert served with Turkish tea, of course. Yummy!
It was such a welcoming atmosphere and staff as well. It is a family owned restaurant and the owners,TC Funda Besen Akyüz and her husband, Erdal are such warm hearted friendly people. They work very hard to make every customer's experience a great one. Excellent food combined with their smiles and hospitality make you feel you are home. On top, everything and every spot of the place was so clean
I will definitely go back--many many times. Next time, I will definitely try Döner. Witnessed the preparation of the chicken döner...It is REAL Turkish döner! Must try!
If you want to try a real authentic Turkish food this is the place to go! ..."Turkish Grill" on Center Avenue.
The perfect combination of fresh, authentic, delicious Turkish food, wonderful attentive service, and a warm and inviting space.....
And it's BYOB!
Authentic Turkish cuisine and excellent service. The best that Oakland has to offer!
First time there... absolutely delicious!!You can tell the food is made with love. 5 Stars!!!!
I've enjoyed their food a couple of times in the last two weeks, and it was incredibly tasty and delicious. Also, the restaurant's ownership has changed, and now, an Afghan family owns the restaurant. They offer a new variety of Persian and Afghan dishes that I highly recommend trying, especially since we didn't have a Persian or Afghan restaurant here in Pittsburgh for so long.
On Friday night (Sep 22, 2023), our large group visited, and it quickly became one of the highlights of our restaurant adventures. They managed all our orders perfectly, and everything was absolutely great. Furthermore, since we were celebrating a birthday, they even played music for us. It was undeniably a special night, and we're definitely planning on returning in the future.
Highly recommended! 🤩🤩
I tried their chicken kabab and Adana kabab. The kababs and rice were very good. I ordered Kunafa but it came burned and dry (did not put a picture because it didn’t even look nice). I did tell the server that the Kunafa quality was not acceptable and they need to fix it. Their tea is very good it comes with cardamom.
If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, you're seriously missing out! The Persian dishes here are seriously on point, bursting with amazing flavors. Their Afghan and Turkish dishes are also off the charts delicious. Give them a shot – you won't be disappointed! New management, a warm and attentive service, and they're nailing it!
Ordered Turkish veggie kebab and chicken adana. Food was good, though it took them a while to serve it as there was a large (indecisive) group. The veggie kebab had more eggplant than any other veggie, which is something I didn't appreciate.
My husband is from Iran and we had the Persian platter. Excellent food. Nice atmosphere. A must try!
The food was delicious! I got Afghan Mantu and koobideh. Everything was cooked perfectly. The owners are extremely lovely people, and the restaurant feels so warm and cozy!
very lovely atmosphere, nice and peaceful. the service was great, and the food was wonderful. i'm visiting from london and wanted something close to the turkish restaurants back home and this was perfect. such a great experience, would definitely recommend. such a beautiful place with tasty food. me and my person enjoyed it! :]
Today, I came to the Turkish Grill restaurant located at 272 Melwood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. The restaurant is quiet and pleasant, the waiter is very friendly and beautiful, and the food is delicious and hearty, which I have never eaten in any restaurant. Thank you for the Turkish Grill service. I recommend it to everyone. Come to this restaurant for lunch or dinner
Very delicious food and The best service they are so kind and friendly.
I will go again and again .
This was my first time having food in this restaurant and it was a very good experience.
The food quality is really 5 star with friendly staff. We were group of 7 people with 3 kids and we all enjoyed.
Ashe Reshteh was very nice.
Delicious! A Turkish and Persian menu. Middle Eastern staples with different flavors. Dishes that I have not seen on any menu in Pittsburgh. Zucchini Pancakes and eggplant spread were standouts. I had a chicken and rice dish from the Persian menu that was fall off the bone and full of flavor. Even the little salad on the entree plate, was really good. Lots of veggie selection. Service good, Atmodphere good except for the giant tv screen and commercials on the music soundtrack.
Such a great experience. Owner was very friendly and the food was fantastic. Their Turkish coffee on point and was served in authentic Turkish cups. Very excited to try their new afghani dishes coming on the menu. If you are looking to make your tastebuds explode this is the spot !
Beef and Chicken kebabs are good. Chicken donar is average. Friendly service.
Ordered the five assorted cold appetizers and the mixed Turkish Grille entree to share. All the food was excellent. The restaurant has a nice small intimate vibe. The lamb was tender and delicious, actually every item was delicious, but the lamb in particular.
Very tasty. It was the best chicken doner and lamb doner sandwich I've ever eaten
TLDR: would definitely recommend if you’re in the Pittsburg area!
Overall had a great experience here and would come back. The food was fresh and the people were super friendly. Their lamb is very popular and for good reason - it’s arguably their best meat offering. Here is what we ordered:
Lentil soup: good flavor but would’ve like it to be hotter
Falafel: not bad, and the hummus it comes with is good too
Baba ganoush: yum! Flavorful and good texture, especially great when paired with the falafel
Zucchini fritters: really good, they are crispy and fluffy without being gluey
Lamb chops: cooked well (not over cooked), tender, and flavorful
Mixed grill patter: Adana kebab, lamb chop, and diner kebab were all flavorful, not dry, and not tough; the chicken kebab was a little bit on the dry side
Kunefe: nice and crispy on the outside and the syrup is not overly sweet
Baklava: flaky, sweet, and a great way to end your meal
The most delicious Turkish place in Pittsburgh. Very clean and cozy place great for a date or for a few friends and family. They also deliver and do take out.
There is a bathroom and wifi.
Staff is friendly.
Customer Service: 5/5 Great!
Price: Affordable $$/$$$
Expect to pay 15 for an entre meal.
Food Quality: 5/5 Great!
Balanced savory dishes.
The food was satisfactory. Didn’t love the Doner so much. Lamb Shish was good. Loved the Babaganoush!
