Someone from Pittsburg recommended us this place while we were visiting for a few hours and it did not disappoint. The neighborhood is quite amazing, calm, green and you might wanna look up the Frick family while you're there.
The Afternoon Tea is one of the many food options at this cafe. I really enjoyed dining outside in the pretty grounds of The Frick Pittsburgh. It was just such a peaceful experience on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I will for sure be returning soon! No need for reservations at this time and the cafe closes at 3:00 pm I believe.
Got there at 10 am on a Sunday, not at all crowded, nabbed an outside table.
Ordering at the counter was fine, staff was personable and helpful, servers were lovely.
The patio can’t be beat for ambiance on a beautiful summer day.
I ordered the afternoon tea plate, which was beautifully presented (see pic).
Highlights were the scone & clotted cream—that was amazing! And I really enjoyed the ginger-licorice tea.
Now for the overly detailed food critique:
The cucumber sandwich was undone by very mushy bread. The other sandwich was tasty.
The scone was delicious, but could have had more tart cherries.
Berries were perfect and nicely presented. Cookie and brownie bite were fine, but a bit too sweet for me; I’d have preferred more fruit or another finger sandwich rather than the super-sweet stuff.
Overall, I give ambiance & service 5-stars
Food 4-stars, and Prices/value 3-stars.
Had a fabulous afternoon with my girlfriend for afternoon tea here.
We got sooo lucky to get the last table of that Saturday without reservation. If you know you want to make a trip here, make sure you call ahead. We were seated inside because it was super hot out. The host was very nice and got us menu quickly. I never had high tea before so didn't really know what to expect. I got to say, high tea is definitely a thing and I can't wait to experience it again. We both got our own tea(great quality) and share a tower of finger sandwiches and dessert. Everything was super yummy and created with care. Scone and jam was SO BOMB! 5 star for ambience and food. Service was also great. Would highly recommend it!
Brunch al fresco!! Having just moved to Pittsburgh, my wife and I were excited to check out the Cafe at the Frick and it did not disappoint. The weather was good so we chose for outdoor seating. We did not have a reservation but had no issues getting a table as we arrived before they opened. The food was bangin! upscale service and great prices. Sitting outside was perfect with our 1 year old. I would recommend without hesitation and I will be re-visiting soon.
After visiting the Clayton House, it was nice to come in and sit down to a hot generous cup of soup and shared a sandwich with friend on gluten free bread. It was delicious
Cute cafe with nice views to the nearby greenhouse and gardens. The omelettes we ve had were delicious and and the chocolate brownie was decorated very nicely. The place also offers a large selection of teas.
Beautiful place! So much to see. The Cafe is AMAZING!! Everything we have tried has been delicious!!! You can't find a more relaxing and beautiful outdoor spot!!
A tranquil oasis in Pittsburgh. Small but lovely art museum. A lovely carriage and car musuem. Beautiful grounds and a lovely green house to buy some plants.
Good beer cheese soup and sandwich for lunch. We got there ten minutes before closing but we were able to get take out and eat on the porch.
Gourmet lunch. Soups to die for. Limited seating inside. Tables outside or picnic on the grounds. Outstanding art museum, car and Carriage museum, greenhouse, and one hour house tour for $15. Easy parking. Hiking available in adjacent park and cementery.
Beautiful grounds. Pittsburgh's #1 attraction.
awesome! queer cafe, they have very good tea and their salad was small (i chose small but like 1/4 a normal side) but good! theey have powder sugar donut holes (awesome)! good experience and very awesome! (all gender potty!)
My husband and I stumbled upon Frick Park and the Cafe last spring after doing some nearby shopping. We were blown away by everything Frick especially the Cafe. So cozy and pleasant, with lovely surroundings, and excellent coffee. We are from Buffalo NY visiting our dear friends and knew that upon our next visit, the Cafe would be at the top of our to do list. I returned recently with a dear friend from India and of course coffee and lunch at Frick Park Cafe was top of the list. As always, the surroundings inside and outside are brilliant. We ordered coffee and lunch. While we enjoyed both, I feel some suggestions regarding the ham and cheese sandwich would be helpful. It was quite a large sandwich on a rather small plate. Not the best presentation and difficult to manage. In addition, the sandwich was without any side dishes. My suggestion is to offer a tea sandwich instead and then include a side of salad and fruit. That just seems to fit the vibe of the Cafe and give a more complete meal. Frick Park is a lovely area and I look forward to my next visit.
Very safe and tranquil way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Relaxing with nice garden view. Their creme brulee and vanilla gelato are delicious.
