I am going to be honest on this review. I rate this place 5 stars on the FOOD! the food is authentic, delicious, excellently prepared and the menu offers variations and traditional styles and dishes that just aren't available elsewhere. The seasonal menu is always special and excellent. that the service is sometimes VERY casual and the decor could use a definite update tells you JUST HOW GOOD the food is to make me insist on still rating it five stars. the Dumplings are thick and stuffed with flavorful filling. Not paper-thin sheets of pasta wrapped around meager bits of minced "whatever". Salt-baked ANYTHING on the menu is wondrous. the offering of "with crisp milk" on the menu may confuse you, but what a delicious confusion! Coconut milk dumplings deep-fried! I cannot recommend the food here strongly enough.

This place is amazing. It's not your ordinary Chinese restaurant with thick sugary and oily sauces. Everything is prepared well. The salt baked squid and the stir fried string beans are perfection.

We once had a pork ribs with purple leaves (sorry for the poor translation), and the pork was delicious, all cooked up to the right point before getting burnt. Other nice dishes include various Chinese vegetables such as pea shoots or Chinese spinach, and barbecued meats such as roast duck or the roast pork pot.

Simply this: If you're looking for a service, go to restaurant in the Mount Washington area (Le Mont, etc2).. If you're looking for typical chinese food (general Tsao's), go to your local mall and get it there. IF you want a true, satisfying, good food, regardless of the service, go here. Most of their food is NOT spicy, and their best dish is Salt-Pepper baked Squid. No other restaurant in USA can beat theirs. I've been to SF, LA, NY, etc2 and none can beat their Salt-Pepper squid. The next is their Chicken with garlic sauce, 8 Treasure Hot Pot, and Orange beef.

I have lived in the Oakland/Shadyside area for 2 years now and have tried most if not all of the local Chinese places. The Orient Kitchen serves the best tasting Chinese in the university area. Don't bother with all of those places in Oakland, just order from here.

The owner is very sweet and courteous. Great food from this restaurant. Ingredients are fresh. They don't have delivery but you can call and order take-out. Wait time isn't too long.

This restaurant cooks what I would call Chinese home cooking. They were very willing to adapt the menu to my taste. Very good food and a nice waitress. The place doesn't look like much, but I liked it. Slightly overpriced.

I used to come here for sushi constantly when i was in college. I've had sushi all over the world now, but really miss this place. It was always the same sushi chef and waitress, and this was back in early 2000s, so I hope it is just as good.

This place is upgrade version of oriental express as both are owned by same owner. The best pecking duck in Pittsburgh! And I also recommend fried squid.

The only place in Pittsburgh to get authentic Cantonese food. Best Chinese seafood in town. Lobster, crab, fish, they have it all!

Great lunch deal of soup and the food, and they give you plenty of food. Pretty good too, good vegetarian options, and the waitress is friendly.

If you want to eat real authentic Chinese food and not mall Chinese food here it is. Just bring someone who knows how to order because it’s really good!
