All of the food is fantastic, I am a regular here and have never found a single thing I disliked. The food is always hot and fresh. The ability to see them making all of your food in the back room is an amazing aesthetic. I love this place and wish it was packed everyday. They deserve it.

The restaurant is quite empty which surprises me considering how ridiculously good the food is! That is good because you get a seat and eat.... It's probably the best Italian American food in the area by quite a bit. They don't advertise themselves as authentic Italian, but a 4th generation Italian American restaurant instead. And it shows through the menu item style. They don't offer the 3-4 course menu that a real Italian restaurant does, but what they do serve are absolutely bomb pastas with extremely big serving sizes. They're so big each dish may actually serve 2 people. Most (if not all?) the pasta is also homemade. You can tell by the shape and texture of the pasta. My favorite is their gnocchetti, perfectly creamy (unhealthily amazing) with the perfect garlicky taste. Their food is also way better than the popular spots like Buca di Beppo and other places. Don't waste your time there. Come here for the outrageously large and amazing food here. Please support Garbarino's!!

Garbarino's is a gem hidden in the center of East Liberty! First things first, make a reservation they have limited hours and seating. Second, plan ahead to find parking on the street. The food and atmosphere are wonderful. Garbarino's is relaxed and chic, serving refined rustic Italian with recipes that have been passed down through 4 generations. The dining experience had an immersive Italian feel with The Godfather: Part 2 playing silently on the tv above the bar and the music of Dean Martin and Johnny Mathis playing while we dined. The portions are huge! Believe me you will be bringing enough home for a second meal. The Italian Sangria was perfect. For appetizers we had the delicious greenz and beans and the meatballs in sauce tasted 💯 exactly like my Mom's!! We tried the Rigatoni Siciliano -which was spicy and saucy and the Rigatoni Ragu -which was rich and meaty. Both dishes were perfectly prepared. A cannoli and tiramisu were taken home to enjoy later -both were tasty. Garbarino's is a must try for Italian food. 🇮🇹

Seven of us went here to celebrate a Pitt graduation. What an outstanding classic Italian meal, generous portions, and excellent service. The owner and chef is originally from Johnstown PA (as is the graduate), so when he heard we were, he come out to say hello. We shared a couple of appetizers ( see pics below: garlic bread, brussel sprouts and garbanzo beans) and had a variety of main courses. We ate well and took home leftovers. The canolli was fantastic, too. Can't wait to go back to Pittsburgh and Garbarino's. Thanks to owner, chef and host and his entire staff.

Probably the best Italian food I have had in my life. Meatballs tasted just like my Sicilian aunt made. Nice atmosphere great service. Owner checked on all the customers to be sure everything was to their liking. I will definitely return every time I am in Pittsburgh

What a gem in East Liberty. We started out with a caprese salad and the mozzarella melted in your mouth. The veal parmesean chop was huge and came with a side of pasta that was big enough to be it's own meal. My wife got a tomato cream pasta with meatballs that she loved. We also loved how you could tell the pasta was homemade. The vibe and ambiance was perfect, with the Godfatber playing on the bar TV, nice lighting and rustic tables. We dine all over the city and Italian is our favorite, we will definitely be adding Garbarinos into our rotation!

Food was excellent. Greens and beans was in a NY style with sausage and some tomatoes. Rigatoni Siciliana was so flavorful with layers of sausage, banana peppers and then to smoked mozz. Chicken Parm is classic with the right flavor of tomatoes and Parm and mozz. Love the tiramisu, the marscapone holds the chocolate and lots of coffee flavor. The cannoli is wonderful, with chocolate chips at one end and chopped pistachios at the other and the filling is smooth and creamy with just right amount of sweetness.

I’d give it more stars if I could. We made reservations on open table on a Saturday night. Fantastic service. Great drinks. Outstanding food with great size portions. I would definitely go back and try more food. My favorite were the Brussels sprouts.

Really impressed with Garbarino’s. Unassuming from the outside, it seemed too good to be true when I walked into the tastefully decorated restaurant with red checkered napkins, gold frames with old family photos hanging on the walls, and The Godfather playing on the bar’s TV. I wondered if the food would be as good as the environment, and it was. We took advantage of their restaurant week specials and shared the meatballs and greens & beans as appetizers, spaghetti bolognese and rigatoni & ragu for our entrees, and tiramisu and cannoli for dessert. The portions were huge, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful surprise. Friendly team members greet and serve you in a very clean and inviting environment. The food not only tastes outstanding, the presentation was spot on like a piece of art. almost felt guilty ruining the display but it tasted soo good! I couldn’t resist then cannoli with pistachio on one side and chocolate chips on the other. Delish!! Wish I could give the restaurant more than 5 stars.

We had an absolutely amazing time celebrating my birthday at Garbarino's! My husband & I had reservations during happy hour time & we were able to enjoy some DELICIOUS spritzer cocktails at happy hour prices! Did I mention they use pasta noodles for straws to avoid using plastic?! Everything was amazing from the appetizers to the meals! The meals are plentiful & they are very accommodating with boxing everything up for you. Garbarino's has an upscale take on your classic authentic Italian joint. The pasta is homemade & the sizzling garlic butter than is served with the bread is so different & delicious! Will definitely come back again - maybe to sit bar side during happy hour!
