Absolutely phenomenal food. We had Al pastor, carnitas, and the steak tacos. All were amazing especially the carnitas. Chips and salsa was great and the churros were amazing. Atmosphere 10/10

Bustling atmosphere with really good high quality food. The service can be a little slow but be patient because once they attend to you they are very kind. The cauliflower taco is absolutely special and the fish taco is even a step beyond that. Haven't had a better fish taco since San Diego. The Birria tacos are tasty but I think the others are more worth the experience here. I know it's a bit pricey here so it's not your everyday Mexican restaurant but it is a great date night or special occasion place. Really good drinks and delicious food puts this place as one of the tops in Pittsburgh to hangout. Please go see for yourself.

Everyone was friendly. We had the Barria Tacos and chicken and chorizo, and both were fantastic. We will definitely go back.

Walking around walnut looking for a brunch spot and decided to try this place. Forst off, the drinks here are delicious, my guava mojito was amazing! The service is great, everyone was kind and our waiter promptly answered our questions. The food is delicious, flavors pop here, and that's saying something. Their brunch burrito was lovely, and that house dressing on the salad was way too good. Plus, their chile arbol salsa had a great hit of smokiness and a slight kick to it. Fresh ingredients and bright flavors. Even their huevos rancheros was packed with flavor. Worth the stop on a brunchy morning, but I would return to try them for dinner. Their vibe screams intimate meal with your partner or group. The wall of candles was a nice touch.

Omggggg. The chips are perfect, the queso and salsa are so flavorful! The fajitas were delicious. The server went above and beyond.

Absolutely delicious Mexican fare. Pro tip: instead of ordering a full serving of queso, get the chips and salsa; you can add a second dip for a lower price! Also be sure to order spicy everything: salsa, margarita, etc. So yummy! There are even a handful of vegetarian options, although if you eat fish the shrimp tacos are the best. The staff is really nice (we asked politely to be moved to another table away from the door and they were super accommodating).

We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and tacos. It was happy hour so drinks and apps were half price. Everything was delicious and service was great. We will definitely be back, especially since we have had a hard time finding any decent Mexican/Tex-Mex food in Pittsburgh.

Each of the things I ate at Tocayo alone were reason enough to stop by, whether you're looking for a meal, a drink, or a fun dessert. I would strongly recommend checking this place out, you will not be disappointed. My friend and I stopped by for a late lunch and were incredibly pleased with the food, service, and the drinks. The nachos were great but I have to recommend the chicaken tostada salad -- this is no ordinary salad, this is a fantastic meal. On top of this, I would strongly recommend you try the mezcal old fashioned -- it's an amazing twist on an old classic that will really surprise you. And finally, what would a meal be without a dessert? The churros and chocolate ice cream were decadent.

Loved the spicy watermelon margarita and the shrimp tacos. We asked for the spiciest guac, it was very mild but still tasted great. In the past, the food was average, but these items on the menu seem to be some of their best.

I absolutely loved the meal I had yesterday from Tocayo. Their dessert especially blew me away. Price wise, it's not too bad and the location is nice as well. It's a good place to dine in or get takeout from. I tried their classic cheese quesadilla and a tres leches cake. Firstly, a very nice surprise was that they give you free chips and salsa even with takeout orders. And, these wasn't just some standard chips and salsa. It was pretty tasty! The chips weren't too oily and the portion was nice. Salsa had chunks of onion and tomato with a nice spice and sourness to it. The quesadilla was also so tasty. Again, portion was well worth the price. They used the perfect amount of cheese in the quesadilla. The tortilla was crispy and topped with a salsa and sour cream. When warmed, this was so irresistible. You could easily share it with someone too. The best part of this meal was definitely (although everything else was fantastic) the tres leches. It seriously blew me away; definitely the best I've had in Pittsburgh or many in my life. So creamy, sweet, milky, and just perfect in every way. It is a bit pricey, but it's so worth it to me. You also get a bit of chocolate and a cherry with it (nice extras). All in all, I highly enjoyed my meal here and would definitely recommend this place. Try the tres leches if you come (order multiple if you can)! Good atmosphere, decent prices, and very high quality food.

Give this place a try! It’s beautifully maintained and decorated. The seating is comfortable and spacious. We didn’t have to wait on a Saturday night but full disclosure: we ate frightfully early (before 5:30 pm). The staff is professional and courteous and the dishes were well-plated, tasty, and fairly priced. The only suggestion I would have is add a few more vegetarian options (at least offer vegetarian rice) but overall a winner.

Upscale tacos that are unique and tasty. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Parking is tricky depending upon the time of day. Octopus tacos were tender with good flavor. Shrimp tacos had a great combination with the mango and pineapple.

It was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time! So good we went again the next day! We had margaritas, the naked burrito, beet tacos, and the lava cake for dessert. The spicy watermelon margaritas are my new favorite drink. I'd keep going back just for them. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because the menu can be misleading to vegetarians. I would like to warn that just because the menu options offer "vegetarian" fillings, that it apparently isn't vegetarian if the menu item includes the rice. The waitress informed me the second time around that their rice is cooked in chicken broth, so just be aware of this if you are ordering!

One of the best places for tacos in Pittsburgh, if not the best! Need to add Saviche on the menu to be 10 out of 10.

Open on Mondays! We stopped in at 7PM and the hostess was very welcoming and seated us without any wait. The dining room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Our waiter brought us water and took our drink orders within minutes of being seated. Blood Orange Margarita was delicious. Drowned Burrito with Chicken and Chorizo, excellent and the portion was enough to share. Finished with the lava cake and coffee which were both great. Wait staff was always attentive. By 8PM the dining room had become quite full. Family friendly but only a few children. Good date night spot.

Possibly my favorite restaurant. Drinks are wonderful. Great margaritas and an awesome Michelada. The chile arbol salsa has a great flavor and spice. The white queso is also delicious. The Birria tacos I had on this trip were great, but my favorite are the octopus tacos - TRY THEM.
